Does ezetimibe work

Common Questions and Answers about Does ezetimibe work

zetia

Avatar m tn also statins like simvastatin were reported to boost response a little but better not mix 2 statins, in a report researchers of ezetimibe effect on hbv and hcv suggested the use of ezetimibe with interferon but without simvastin ezetimibe dose is 10-20mg daily but human trials with dose 50mg daily for a limited time did not find any sides or toxicity
Avatar m tn The FDA-approved drug ezetimibe (sold under the trade-name Zetia) is readily available and perfectly targeted to the receptor, Sainz said, so the researchers had an ideal method for testing NPC1L1's involvement in HCV infection. The researchers showed that ezetimibe inhibited HCV infection in cell culture and in mice transplanted with human liver cells. And, unlike any currently available drugs, ezetimibe was able to inhibit infection by all six types of HCV.
Avatar m tn I have been taking 2000mg Niaspan daily for the last 18months, helping to raise it from 25 to 30. I run about 9miles a week, work out 3-4X at the gym each week, and drink a glass of red wine every night. I eat nuts every day, take Omega3, and rarely eat red meat - subscribing to a low cholesterol diet. Weight is 185 at 6'3", age 50. LDL is always pretty low - most recently 66.
Avatar m tn If i had to guess the dynamic equilibriums at work here i would say that ezetimibe alone might reach a 20% drop and the combo with irbesartan another 20%. Myrcludex at effective dose will drive it much lower. The antivirals, as previously mentioned, act synergistically with any entry inhibitor simply because the number of virions requesting entry will be much smaller. The reduction rates will a actually multiply, true synergism.
Avatar m tn simvastatin. try it for 6 month and report to us if it does not work. steff thinks it does not work. i might try it myself. perhaps it is too weak. We should try ibesarten and simvastatin together.
Avatar n tn You could consider going for a higher dose of Lipitor, another way to go is to consider taking a drug that limits cholesterol absorption such as Ezetimibe. There is a combination drug Simvastatin and ezetimibe that may be better in controlling cholesterol. Discuss these drugs with your doctor. Best of luck to you. Stay positive.
Avatar m tn Only around 20% of the fat in your blood comes from food, the Liver can make fat by itself and does. Without statins my total cholesterol is 375-400. With 40mg of Atorvastatin accompanied by Ezetimibe, It is 160-162. It has to be said though, more and more research is revealing that fats have little to do with it. I don't think it will be much longer before they finally find the culprit.
Avatar f tn I live in Canada and I see here that everyone seems to talk about cholesterol numbers in 100s, where here in Canada they seem to use a different system to show counts. Does anyone know how to convert these numbers to the numbers that the US goes by so when I read these posts I can figure out where I fit in? here are my numbers: Cholesterol 3.84 Triglycerides 1.04 HDL 1.37 LDL 2.0 TC/HDL-C Ratio 2.
1006041 tn?1250396768 I hear that this is rare and I cant tell physically that I am allergic but it is apparent through my blood work after taking just one pill. My doctors are dumbfounded and told me to take fish oil, though they laugh feeling that fish oil is night a good enough treatment along side a healthy diet. I just want to know is this allegy as uncommon as I hear it is and is there any other medications that might help me?
Tbd About two years ago my doctor added ezetimibe to my regimen. It has been lowering my bad cholesterol how ever the first of this month I missed taking them for about a week and for the first time in years I felt less fatigued. I do have Fibromyalgia which is usually the cause of my fatigue, but this is a different type of fatigue. I have not restarted either of the cholesterol meds back because I have felt so much better. I know I need to talk to my doctor about it.
Avatar m tn no study for its activity on hbv, we do know it has activity but the trial has never started simvastatin lowers hcc 50% and prevents fibrosis/cirrhosis so it is indicated on all hbver, this has thousands of pateints studied for decades to find this data on hcc you better use simvastatin instead other statins, also ezetimibe has in vitro effect on hbv so these are the best choices on hbvers
Avatar m tn There was an in vitro study on ezetimibe inhibiting HBV DNA production. The ed50 was fairly low and in a similar range as lamuvidine. So it looked very interesting. But in an in vitro study you have a constant exposure to the drug, which is impossible to achieve in vivo. And the cells used are not the same as regular hepatocytes in human liver, with many differences in gene expression and cellular physiology.
Avatar n tn m not certain who told you to restrict your daily intake of oil to 15g? but it does seem a little absurd. Oils are unsaturated fats and the fats you should be reducing are saturated, and of course, avoiding trans fats at all costs. It is also worth considering that we all absorb fats at different rates and only around 15-20% of fats we eat ends up in our blood, the rest is recycled or made by the Liver.
Avatar m tn one good point of your status is that your virus should be wildtype, it has little opportunity to mutate with your low hbvdna so when immune system will be recovered hbsag shoudl be easier, at least theorically anyway it is not good to have hbvdna detectable so if it does not go down to und by few months it is important to consider possible aid from ntz or ezetimibe
Avatar m tn Yes clomid does work for some people depending on the quality of your husband's sperm. I had a friend that used clomid for only 2 months and got pregnant.
