Avatar m tn Before this there were never ED problems, but since there has been. Are there any other medications to lower blood pressure without this side effect? As of now the hypertension is under control with these meds.
Avatar f tn I just really don't want to take the diltiazem. The doc said it's not any more potent than metoprolol, but I hear all the negative comments about it and 120mg a day seems a bit high. And if it won't keep my heart rate down then it won't be of use anyway. The fear of rapid heart beat is there, even though I know it probably isn't dangerous, it's a bit unnerving. And even if I'm totally relaxed, the last few times I tried to have sex, I could not keep an erection.
Avatar n tn I have high blood pressure and have tried various drugs to lower it. I am told that they will not operate if my BP is high. The complication is that all the BP tablets that I have tried cause erectile dysfunction. The question is - how am I going to ejaculate the bloody mess in my prostate if I can't get an erection? Does it matter if I am unable to discharge this material? What happens if I don't?
Avatar n tn Viagra dilates vessels to increase the blood flow to the penis, while the blood pressure medications dilate certain vessels to lower the blood pressure. Thus, the question arises as to whether it is safe to combine these two different medications. Since they both independently dilate the blood vessels, it is conceivable that together they could lower the blood pressure too much. So Viagra is usually not recommended for men with high blood pressure.

175688 tn?1297556647 When in physical rehab after heart attacks, the blood pressure drugs I take would lower my blood pressure so far that I was encouraged to drink water to raise it. That being said, high blood pressure is an absolute guarantee of early heart trouble, and a looking at the long term, he needs to modify his diet, get exercise, etc.
Avatar f tn s not safe together with nitroglycerine, and possibly not with alpha blockers which dilate the blood vessels, as blood pressure can drop too low (additive effects) from vasodilation. If you still are having tachycardia despite the 25 mg x 2, you can talk to your doctor about increasing the dose. 50 mg is still a small dose. Your discomfort with feeling a rapid heart rate during sex probably contributes to the ED.
Avatar m tn Hello. I can't second guess your physician; however, I'd be very careful with Viagra and high blood pressure. There are no herbal supplements that are effective. None have been certified as such by the FDA. As to why you're sometimes having erections and sometimes not: blood pressure highly affects blood flow to your penis, and that's what creates an erection. So if there's any medical condition that inhibits blood flow, this will affect your erection.
Avatar m tn s why your blood pressure is lower after you exercise, the blood is still in these large muscles causing pressure to be lower. Also, your dizziness is most likely due to the lack of a cool down period. When you stop exercising suddenly, it will cause your blood pressure to drop, like when you get up too quickly. You need to gradually lower the demand on your heart by doing some kind of cool down exercise like walking or light stretching. Try it, your dizziness will most likely go away.
Avatar f tn Yes its normal

Avatar n tn How is your overall health? How is your blood pressure and blood circulation? Men lose testosterone as they age but don't know if that's what is happening here and would thin it is more about your blood flow. Do you smoke? Are you overweight? Do you exercise?
Avatar m tn And when I went through ribaviram and alpha interferon, ten years ago, I was a null responder and had no change in blood pressure. So my current circumstances lead me to wonder if curing HepC helps lower blood pressure. Too bad there doesn't seem to be any studies yet on this conjecture, since thousands of us are now being cured.
