celexa

hi my doctor is putting my wife on celexa for her anxiety and panic attacks, i was wondering does anyone take it and how it makes you feel, she has been taking buspar for 3 days and i think it made her worse and help would be greatly aprreciated
Celexa will take 3-4 weeks to begin working and usually works well for depression, and slighly well for anxiety and panic attacks. Please do not use Celexa as your fall back medicine for anxiety Most doctors will not give you Ativan or other benzo's so easily, but please try.
I have been prescribed Celexa. Which i havent taken yet, of course. So does anybody take it? Know anything about it? Comments, Suggestions? Anybody?
I am prepared to do that, I was just wondering if the tingling and undercurrent of anxiety is due to the initial side effects of Celexa, or if I could be responding to it as I did the Zoloft? I didn't want to quit taking it too soon for the simple fact it might help. I need your advise. Many thanks.
Went to see him because of my anxiety kicking back in but stronger this time. I even doubled my meds but no effect. My Dr now wants me to try Celexa instead of clomipramine but I can't take it for at least 10 days as he says there maybe interactions with Celexa and clomipramine. So I am to taper off Clomiprmine and then start with celexa.I have been on Clomipramine for 19 yrs now but it does not seem effective. I have been on Clonazepam for the same amount of time.
My doctor has prescribed my Celexa for panic with agoraphobia and severe anxiety. I'm scared to take the meds because I also have a phobia of medications, fear I will have an allergic reaction and die. Have you heard of anyone being alllergic to celexa?
I am also very apprehensive on taking this drug. DOes it really help? The doctor told me to take it and do not worry about the side effects. But I am, I do not like taking meds that are not for strict health reasons. I usually don't even take ibprofen or tylenol. I just wondered how Celexa affects ones sleep?
Afternoon all, I finally asked my Dr. for something to help me deal with anxiety/anger sides that I have been dealing with for almost 2 months. She prescribed Celexa and I started it on Thursday night and have been really nauseous along with a fuzzy almost headache ever since. I thought my stomach issues were relatively under control before this started, but now I am having the hardest time eating much of anything.
I have been on 20mg of celexa now for a week and he would like me to go up to 30mg soon. Does anyone know how long it takes for this stuff to kick in, I'm just wondering if I should hold off with upping to 30mg for awhile and see if the 20 mg is enough. I hate feeling ansie all the time, and the klonopin does seem to help with that, but isn't it pretty addictive? My dr. said not to worry about that and when I started feeling better we would wean off of the klonopin?
Is there another drug she can take with the Celexa to help? If you have any other comments that could help my mom please give them.
I am just now starting Celexa, prescribed by my doctor, since Paxil didn't work. He said that Celexa will help control my anxiety and nervousness. I thought though that Celexa was for depression? Will this drug REALLY help my anxiety and nervousness???
my doc gave me trazedone but i do not feel comfortable taking a sleep aid. From what i herd it does not help anxiety much. I am looking more for lexapro or celexa to help me out. I have never been a big fan of meds since i took zoloft when i was 16 now 23 made me real sick, i just could not take the side effects. is this drug helpful and is it easy on the stomach?
In my experience with SSRIs like Celexa it actually increased my anxiety for a couple of weeks. It was probably a combination of my anxiety about taking the med along with physical symptoms as my body adjusted to it. I really started to see the benefit after 3-4 weeks. Klonopin is a benzo that is usually prescribed more long term and I believe it is usually not taken on an as needed basis.
I also don't want to go back to the way I use to be with the panic and anxiety. Isn't there anything that can help with anxiety and depression?? Oh yeah, I gained 20 lbs. in the last year, which really isn't helping the depression either!
As for the Celexa, they always start us out on the lowest dosage, and increase it as needed until it is controlling our anxiety, this is typical so don't be concerned about it. Celexa has worked great for me, taken along with Clonazepam. But we all respond differently to these types of meds, so what works for one....may not another. That's the frustrating part, since we have no way of knowing what will work without trying it first. Once we find what works...it's well worth it!
Does not take long before my anxiety takes over...I took 2.5 mg of my celexa. Gosh I just want off this stuff!!!!! I guess I could try to take it every other day until I can stop. I am just so mad about this...when I stopped I told myself that was it and I would get through the withdrawls. O well....
I am currently on 100 mg of seraquel at night and 1 mg of klonopin tid, 200 mg of lamictal, 100 mg of wellbutrin and now down to 40 mg of celexa, tapering slowing down from 80. eventually off of wellbutrin as that and celexa do seem to be doing anything for me ( we think). does anyone think that with the taper I could be having some rebound anxiety as my body is adjusting to less amounts of celexa? thanks. I have been doing really well but noticing a little anxiety creeping back in.
Paxil, Celexa, Lexapro(2 mths) and back on Celexa. I was having anxiety. I was very very happy, not depressed, but my dr. convinced me after a long time that I needed an anti-depressant. I've since gained so much weight; I don't recognize myself. I decided to get off of the drug. I tapered off slowly. One month after I was completely off and after all the brain zingers and dizzies were gone, I found I really was feeling blue and anxious. I went back on celexa.
my doctor prescribed celexa 10 mg a day started for four weeks felt not so good on that and quit cold turkey now life is very hard. been vomitting hot and cold flashes anxiety like crazy. i only took celexa four weeks this is worse than opiate withdrawel. does anyone ou there think it takes more than three weeks to stop feeling effect of celexa because i really thing the opiates are out of my system?
On the contrary, I asked my psychiatrist to help me taper off of Celexa. She said to break the pills in half and take one every-other-day for a week and then half of that every-other-day for a second week. I asked if there would be discontinuation problems and she said not if I did it this way. Boy was she entirely wrong, and I'm wondering if the medical community is being correctly informed about these medicines or whether she is a total quack.
In the meantime, if they are particularly awful, as you have described, you can ask your doctor to prescribe some quick acting anti-anxiety drugs to help you with this period.
that shame doesn't have to derail us.....it can actually be used to help another. Lastly, wanted to share a minute on your Celexa question. I've been on 5 different AD's over the last 10 yrs and believe it or not...Celexa wasn't one of them, lol. But I was on Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Cymbalta, Lexapro, and Prozac. I did the best on Lexapro and the worst on Cymbalta. I read up a little on Celexa and found that the MAX dose is usually 40 mg and yet your dr. STARTED you on that?.
Does Celexa make you gain weight. I was just prescribed this medication, and am unsure what to think. Will it lift my apathetic mood? Will I gain weight from it? I would love to hear anyone's story regarding this medication.
How long does celexa take to really start working before I can stop of worrying and obessing about my heart? I have been like this for years and I just am in a constant state of panic and worry about this.
I have just recently started taking Celexa for anxiety, and I have noticed some increased feelings of anxiety...has anybody else dealt with this? And if so, how long can I expect this to last? I really, really want to tough it out, as living with this cycle of endless anxiety is torture...but does this mean I should start taking it, to try another antideressant, that may in turn cause me the same side effect? Also, I am trying to increase my work-outs to help fight the anxiety...
i started on celexa 20 mg almost a year ago for anxiety/postpardum. for the celexa to reach it's full max you have to give it up to three months. that's what my doctor/friend told me and it held true. i went to see my doctor today b/c of horrible aniexty lately and he choose to up the dose to 40 mg and said it would take about a month for me to feel any change - i've already been on it for about a year.
Lexapro or Celexa, or maybe even what's better then those for anxiety. I have done everything to attack my anxiety by quitting smoking and all drugs but it's only help a little bit. I finally came to the conclusion that I am ready to start medication.
