i started on celexa 20 mg almost a year ago for anxiety/postpardum. for the celexa to reach it's full max you have to give it up to three months. that's what my doctor/friend told me and it held true. i went to see my doctor today b/c of horrible aniexty lately and he choose to up the dose to 40 mg and said it would take about a month for me to feel any change - i've already been on it for about a year.
I have been on 20mg of celexa now for a week and he would like me to go up to 30mg soon. Does anyone know how long it takes for this stuff to kick in, I'm just wondering if I should hold off with upping to 30mg for awhile and see if the 20 mg is enough. I hate feeling ansie all the time, and the klonopin does seem to help with that, but isn't it pretty addictive? My dr. said not to worry about that and when I started feeling better we would wean off of the klonopin?
I have just gotten Celexa but I am scared to start using it right now because i see my gf on wed. Would bad enough side effects occur to where I might be different towards my gf? I also want your advice on what's better. Lexapro or Celexa, or maybe even what's better then those for anxiety. I have done everything to attack my anxiety by quitting smoking and all drugs but it's only help a little bit. I finally came to the conclusion that I am ready to start medication.
When I first stand up, I have tingling in the bottoms of my feet, but it subsides in 10 seconds. Three weeks ago I had an anxiety attack and my GP has put me on Celexa and Klonopin until the Celexa kicks in. My tingling and anxiety have subsided, but I still have it. My GP told me to wait 2 more weeks and then she will send me for a nerve conductive study (not sure if I'm calling it the exact correct name). As a neurologist, does this sound like MS to you?
s not making any more serotonin than your body makes naturally, what it is doing is altering the natural way your body uses it. The reason anxiety is triggered in many anxiety sufferers when using alcohol or other drugs is it disorients us to use them -- it's why we like them -- but when you're an anxiety sufferer, disorientation feels like what it feels like when you're really anxious so it triggers the same feelings. Doesn't happen with everyone, but it does happen a lot.
t know what to drop. My main issue is anxiety and sleep. I know Buspar helps with the anxiety but it only helps when using another SSRI. I would like to drop the Celexa because of the weight gain and then maybe drop the Buspar. I basically need something to relax me during the day and knock my butt out to sleep.
Honestly, I just switched to the Klonopin. I was taking 4 mg Xanax. I could pop 1 mg of Xanax sometimes 2 and totally function.
My doctor thinks so and prescribed some Ativan and Celexa. I think I fell the affects of the Celexa because I feel like Im in a good mood most of the time. Im still having chest pains and my heart rate will increase for no apparent reason. Sometimes both hands will turn purple colors now. So Celexa has helped my mood but not my symptoms. Whats wrong with me?
is celexa just for depression?? or does it also help with anxiety's?? is this one on the bottom of the list?? like zoloft,paxil,lexapro,prozac..this is in the same category as these others....please explain this??

ve been on my typical dosage since 3 weeks ago, I can rule out Celexa. My doctor does know about my Celexa. My first guess it the Birth Control. If you take Xanax or Lunesta occauonally, can it cause anxiety when you aren't taking it? As if your body is addicted or something? I never want to be addicted.
Ryan is my favorite source of knowledge on this forum so I would consider his advice. Would like to add that Celexa, while not specifically for anxiety does seem to have some effect for me. I have panic attacks ( now under control ) and GAD. I have taken many SSRI's with no help. Celexa is the only one that has helped enough that I can taper off Klonopin. I am down from 2 mgs a day to .75mgs a day with no return of symptoms.
t specifically approved for anxiety, neither was Prozac when it first came out, but it did help many people with anxiety. So has Celexa. Specific approvals are more for patentability than anything else -- to get a copycat drug patented and approved by FDA you have to show it treats something different than previous medications. So Prozac got approval for depression, but was always used for anxiety as well.
Ask your doctor about celexa. No antidepressants are specifically for panic or anxiety besides benzos but many AD are used to treat anxiety even though they treat depression too.
Don't take anything on your own without doctors supervision cuz that can make things worse.
Hi guys does anyone here take Celexa and if u do does it work I'm kind of nervous taking any pills since iv had issues with pain meds but just been having a hard time so my dr wants me to try them any advice or info about this med would be great thanks
Hi. I was just wondering if going off Celexa would help ensure I get some of my memory back. My memory has become progressively worse since I went on the drug years ago. Mostly short-term, but to some extent long-term as well. I am heading to a masters program and later on hope to pursue a PhD, so I can no longer accept this issue. I have a feeling that my working memory has decreased as well, which is unacceptable.
