After trying Doxy, Azithromycin, and Flagyl, the only antibiotic that finally worked was Avelox. The question now is what I should treat my partner with. I know from my experience that my NGU was passed sexually, and she needs to get treated before we can have sex again. The problem, is that she said she is allergic to Avelox. Another problem, is that since it is NGU, we cannot test to confirm if the bacteria is cured, and she is also asymptomatic.
Ciprofloxacin, Avelox, Levaquin, norefloxacin, etc) cause, instead of choosing to diagnose each symptom individually?
Went to see a couple of doctors and they think it is sinus infection - so went on two anti-biotic treatments (Augmentin 10 days - which did not work, then Avelox 14 days). I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question,
wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.
I have tendonitis as a result of taking Avelox. Is this a condition that can be treated like other tendonitis and what is the prognisis?
As for herpes- there is nothing in this history to suggest that this is HSV. HSV does not cause prostatitis, does not last as long as your symptoms have and does not cause urethral pain without there also being external lesion. This is not HSV.
I hope these comments are helpful. Typically problems such as prostatitis require a more prolonged course of therapy with a medication such as trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole.
Avelox... I went yesterday and saw a lung specialist, he calmed me down and told me that i only have a little pneumonia in my lower left side it's nothing to be worried about. It's the bronchitis that's causing a lot of pain in my chest and back that I did not have prior to the antibiotics.
Sometimes there is a lot of guess work to diagnose the problem and trial and error to find what works to fix it.
Keep working with your dr and hold the accountable to find the answer for you. Try to be as patient as you can, but not too much.

treated with doxycycline by end of june for 1 wk. started on avelox end of july for 1 wk. then given levaquin for a wk. by last wk doc said she didn't think was infection cause levaquin shoudl have killed anything, even though I was still having gobs of green phlegm coming down the back of my throat and out of my lungs. she sent me to the asthma and allergy clinic where i was tested for 27 diff allergies all negative for.

After two days of suffering ithcing in my urethra, followed by a frequent urge to urinate, I began to take some left over Avelox (400 mg) that I had on hand. Trust me, I know this was dumb. 36 hours after I began taking the Avelox (one dose on Friday night at 5:30 pm and one on Saturday at 5:00 pm) I had a swab for gonorrhea and chlamydia (1:45 pm on Sunday). The test results just came back negative. Is it possible that the Avelox ruined the test results?

Sure, there are lots of antibiotics. If you're allergic to azithromycin, you also probably can't take clarithromycin and erythromycin. And if doxycycline doesn't work, there's probably no used in taking tetracycline. So that does eliminate a lot of them. If the doxycycline isn't working, either your tests are consistently false positives, or you have a resistant strain. It's not typical, but it does happen.
I do alot of manual work lately and am out of shape weighing 194 at 5 ft 7...used to work out like crazy but havent in a long while...my waist is still only 34 but its all fat accumulated around my upper body and stomach...definetly need to drop 10 to 15 pounds...high cholesterol and blood pressure too but not enough yet for meds...if I drop weight my GP said both will be alot better....hopefully that really bad cold that hit my sinuses is resolving itself...
The problem persisted and it seem to show a lack of flow when i was peeing and it also took alot of push to get the pee even when i knew i had to go. coinsidentally, I was given Avelox for my ear infection a day later. I have been on avelox for 5 days now it still burns when i pee, the tip of the penis is swollen and the hole is red and swollen. 2 days ago i went to the urgent care and got tested for my urine sample and that showed up clear and I called today and they stated the std of gon.
Please help my anxiety as I have one confirmed swollen lymph node by my doctor who perscribed avelox. I am also experiencing pins and needled and a burnin feeling in my right leg as well as a stiff neck. Any help you could provide would he appreciated.
I am a 44 year old male and the only other thing I take is valium 5 mg ...the avelox 400 mg that I have taken two 7 day coursed of recently I can no longer take as it effects my heart rate now...my ent switched to levaqin 500 mg and that also was no good for me...floroquines are not tolerated well anymore by me either now...
Pristinamycin is apparently used quite a bit in Europe for Mycoplasma Genitalium. Does anyone have any info on success rates before I get a plane ticket to Paris? Seems to me it would be worth it to fly over for a week and take advantage of their socialized medicine to get a prescription, and check out the Mona Lisa and the Eiffel Tower while you are there. I have searched online and can't really find too much specific to M. Genitalium.
