I took azithromycin and rocephin injection as a precaution (before the swab results came back), and am currently taking Augmentin to get rid of the strep. I was feeling fine and healed until yesterday when my throat started to hurt again. I changed my toothbrush about 5 days into the antibiotic treatment and the next day it was hurting again. Is Augmentin good enough to treat this? Could it be coming back for some reason?
Except for a low growth of Group B strep. The discharge has a burning sensation, I have stomach pains, pain sometimes with sex, painful periods, excessive lubrication with sex.. So I started gargling Listerine, is it possible that by gargling too much listerine I can make my throat more raw? Or will the Listerine just keep on helping?

i went to the the doctors and tested negative on a rapid strep test for strep throat. i also tested negative for mono through a blood test. they gave a culture to a lab for a more thorough strep test, that has not come back yet. to treat my throat they gave me augmentin (amoxicilin and clavulanate). so far i have taken one pill and i will take another in 12 hours.

Two weeks ago, Monday the 7th I went to the doctor with a sever sore throat and was giving Augmentin to take for 10 days (twice a day). My throat was really sore, I had a 103 degree fever, and thyroid glands were swollen. Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen didn't do much to relieve the pain. The rapid strep test said I did not have strep throat, but after looking at my throat a few times the doctor believed the test was wrong and gave me Augmentin.
I recently took a 10 day course of augmentin for strep throat or tonsillitis (I took the prescription prior to testing to see which). Toward the end of the treatment, I started to experience some mild discomfort after urninating. Weeks later I am still experiencing that discomfort, in varying degrees. You need a mono test, and a strep test due to the rash and sore throat, also a throat culture to test for different bacterias (Strep A and Strep B). The rapid strep tests they do in the clinic only test for one type of strep. Also, even though rare anymore, you should ask them about possible scarlet fever. You need a new CBC done, it is possible that the WBC has went up since the last test. And also have an epstein barr virus test just in case the rapid mono spot test comes back negative.

Over the past 18 months I have had three anal abscesses, and I had another abscess approximately 6 years ago. In all cases these abscess presented quickly (within 2 days) and I have had to have 3 of 4 drained by the surgeon. My most recent was caught early so my doctor decided to try Augmentin before having me see a surgeon to have it drained. I've been sick since the beginning of February, and I don't know what to do. I came down with strep in February; it hit me very suddenly overnight. I waited a couple days to go to the doctor to see if it would get better, but it turned into the worst sore throat I've ever experienced, so I went to the doctor and the strep test came back positive. He put me on 10 days of amoxicillin.
I was administered a strep test which came back negative but the pain increased, I could not swallow anything, I had ear aches, and began to run a fever. I went to the ER within 4 days once the pain was intolerable. The DR. Prescribed me augmentin and the pain subsided until the meds were gone. Four days later on Thanksgiving all of the symptoms returned. I went to the ER again to get a different diagnosis or pharyngitis. I was prescribed clindamycin and prednisone.

I am desperately seeking answers to my 7 yr old son's problems. About 8 weeks ago, he started complaining of tummy ache after school. Within a couple of days, he also started having headaches always on his forehead. The ped. put him on Amoxycillin due to a possible sinus infection. He also had bloodwork done and his T4 and TSH came at borderline. He responded to the Amox. for a few days and the headaches returned.
