Avatar f tn I am just curious how old does the baby have to be before they can go for allergy testing. On my husband side there is a lot of family members including him allergic to the medicine of codeine. I want our baby to get tested for this allergy so if and when our baby does get sick i will know not to give him anything w codeine.

Avatar n tn My pediatrician wants me to take my son for allergy testing, but his only symptom is coughing. He has no other symptoms, has had a chest and sinus X-ray, which were normal. He has had antibiotics and steroids. The cough has not gone away. Not sure why he thinks it is an allergy... Please advise. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Where can I get the titanium allergy testing to see if I am sensitive to the hardware in my neck? I believe it is called the Melisa test and it is a blood test. Does anyone know where I can get this done?
Avatar f tn I think we are going to try the allergy shots for my son. We figure that it cant hurt, and if it does not help after about a year or so, we can always stop. Is the cream that you are talking about available over the counter or would I have to ask the doctor for it (lidocaine?
5986700 tn?1380791380 As far as the coughing and allergy type symptoms go, mine were pretty bad for the first month to month and a half. I have really bad seasonal allergies though, so it's hard to say what's normal. Have you tried any allergy medication? It might help you to be more comfortable for the time being until this passes. Just please hang in there and know that this is all temporary. I promise it will get better. You are doing a fantastic job! Keep on fighting the good fight!
Avatar m tn Even allergy testing got all red and swollen, but not nearly comparable to the swelling of the Tetanus shot. 15 years ago I also got a Tetanus shot and had nothing but minor discomfort for 2 hours, then again 15 years ago my allergies were not nearly as bad. I'm thinking this was an allergic reaction that did not go systemic like my other allergies. I didn't read about it itching anywhere else and antihistamine helping the itch? Anyway that's my update.
Avatar n tn Because allergy meds seem to only work for a while on me like a year or so, the doc has now done allergy testing and I am on allergy shots. I do not have any severe allergic reactions ever but due to the constant headaches and alot of sinus infections we went to shots. Other avenues of my headache causes have already been exhausted. I have no structural problem in my sinuses and my MRI was clear. On my allergy testing..
Avatar f tn I am inquiring about the MELISA metal testing now, but what has gotten me very upset is thinking about having the Rod in my femur removed. Is this done is it awful. I guess nothing couldn't be much worse than my life now.
Avatar m tn It hurts physically like breathing in bleach or smoke (I have asthma). I am allergic to garlic if I eat it, also confirmed by allergy testing too. But I was told I had to come in contact with food allergy to have an allergic reaction to it. The smell of it makes me very ill, triggers asthma, dry tight throat, mucus, even vomit. It's a brutal feeling. Very few odors hurt me like this. Bleach and smoke are the other two that hurt but only garlic makes me feel ill beyond breathing problems.
Avatar f tn t had the allergy test I never would have found out my severe allergy to June grass pollen. The allergy test I had didn't hurt. At least then you will find out what you're allergic too. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn he has an allergy related skin condition (Urticaria Pigmentosa), seasonal allergies, and food allergies (tree nuts only). He takes the adult dosage of Zyrtec daily and uses Flonase to keep some of the allergies under control. Because of all of these allergies, I assumed the tongue issue would also be allergy related (the allergy specialist disagrees though). We have also tried Benadryl to no avail. He hasn't had a decent night's sleep in weeks.
Avatar m tn Allergy blood testing requires only one needle stick (unlike skin testing). This may be more attractive for people who are afraid of needles. Allergy blood testing is the preferred test for infants and very young children However..... Disadvantages of allergy blood tests include: 1. More expensive than skin testing. Many health insurers do not cover allergy blood tests. 2. May be less sensitive than skin tests. 3.
Avatar f tn (yes, dry mouth is a sign of anxiety, but this is only tongue all day) My insurance will not cover allergy testing so I am trying to exhaust any other options to rule out everything else before being tested for specific allergies. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have an appointment with my general practitioner in two weeks but cannot see my ENT again for four months.
Avatar f tn You are very welcome I hope he does well , it does sound like allergy .. let us know how he id doing ...
Avatar n tn No facial numbness but extreme dizziness and breathing difficulty. I have an epipen but have never used it. Does anyone know of a common allergy to food additives or preservatives. I have to eat out a good bit for my business and am getting very nervous about eating in restaurants. How can I narrow down what is causing these problems?
Avatar m tn Yes, it is possible you could have an issue with gluten even thought the tests were negative. A lot of people have found that out the hard way - after years of being miserable. The most reliable tests - IMO - currently are the fecal antibody test and the gene test. You can read about them at enterolab.com But also consider checking out whether or not you might be casein - the major protein in diary - intolerant.
Avatar f tn No, I'm not asmatic. I give my allergy shots at home for maintainence now, and the vials are marked A,B,& C. So I'm not sure exactly what is in them. Might they be the cause of the eye sx? Thank you.
Avatar f tn is generally used as the control for intradermal testing). After the testing I was told I showed no allergies, but to still use caution. As a result, I haven't eaten any nuts & am pretty much petrified that they could appear in any foods I eat. This morning I went in for a food challenge w/ walnuts, since that seems to be what caused the initial reaction. They did this by first having me eat a small piece of walnut (about 1/4 of a walnut).
