Common Questions and Answers about Does allegra d make you drowsy

allegra

If I take the zyrtec every day, I do not itch and there are not red spots or hives. Zyrtec does make you quiet a bit tired, but you can take it before you go to bed.
Hi, I am sorry about the trouble your hubby is having. I took two antihistamines during treatment. Benedryl and Allegra D. The "D" part is important because it is a decongestant. It is available as an over-the-counter drug in most states. However, it will also keep some people awake especially when they first start taking it. I took it for a long time prior to treatment and it doesn't bother me anymore but still. Your hubby should ask for help with getting some sleep.
I have really bad allergies/sinus, and tried allergies meds, and have done some research. Pseudoephedrine gives me bad heart palpitations and extreme anxiety, leads to chest pains. I've tried taking Zyrtec, with Psuedo and the side effects made me feel so bad, I stopped taking the med.
This is an older, stronger antihistamine, which can definitely make you drowsy. It’s also used to severe allergic reactions and rashes. ● Oxymetazoline (Afrin) can be used for severe nasal congestion only occasionally and should be used no more than 2-3 days at a time. If you also have nasal congestion, then you can get the "-D" version of the various antihistamines. The D stands for decongestant, which is usually an oral version of phenylephrine or pseudo-ephedrine.
Hi and welcome to Part 50! Wow part 50. Please make yourself at home. Snuggle down. It'll be a bumpy ride but I know you Tramadol Warrirors can do it!
Hydroxyzine may cause drowsiness, but it does not make everyone drowsy. I do not get drowsy from it. I know it works for some people, but Benadryl did absolutely nothing for me. I think part of that has to do with the severity of the rash. It is not one or two bumps. It is generalized. It is a systemic reaction.
Bring me up to date .. the cold mades make you hyper? I've always had to take 1/4 dosing on cold meds bcz of that side effect even before the thyroid issues and could never take anthistamines as my heart would have palpitations .. so even when I was in pre-term labor they decided not to use the anthistamine with the risk vs. benefit thing and how far along I was in the pregnancy, etc. Now to ::::: vent :::::: along with your post ...
but when you are going though it you think all kinds and worrying about it will make you feel it more its like when you get a headace if you keep thinking about it it get worse same with this i know when i get it i will sit down and watch my fav movie sometime i get up and it gone but if i start thinking about it again it will come back i can have it for weeks then its gone for weeks its just the way it is but the best thing to do is to know its not nice but you will not die from it .
Found myself allergic to animals - very young pups and cats in general - they're too excitable - emit too many hormones or fermones (I think that's the spelling), etc. Getting them neutered could be as much as a 98% fix - really! ..... unless your problem is dander. Stay away from guinea pigs - gerbils - mice - all those "cute little things". If you have them, make sure someone else does the cleaning..
It doesn't irritate my stomach and does not make you drowsy or anything. Obviously there is an underlying cause for your son's ailments, but immediate relief of symptoms while you are dealing with the underlying cause is a good thing. Also, Allegra gave me severe back pain. Just something else to consider. Good luck.
It is an older drug and will make you drowsy for the first couple weeks, but that goes away completely with time. Zyrtec, Zantac, Prednisone, allegra, etc.........all garbage. Take Elavil and Be Free Again!!!!! -Best of Luck to all, I feel for all of you.
I am firmly convinced Allegra was at least partly the cause of my first Afbi episode. I think the "D" on any of the meds is the decongestent that will speed your heart up. I have sleep apnea and must breath thru my nose to use my cpap machine. I use the Breathe Right nose strips, Ayr Saline nasal mist and gel. I got a nasal rinse bottle from the allergist, but I had a lot of trouble with my ears then, I guess water being forced into the eustachian tubes.
I am not paid to say Zyrtec is a wonder—honest--but my symptoms went away almost immediately once I started taking it. 9 days later I have had no problems. It does make me a little drowsy. So if your symptoms are similar to what mine were-- and if you are in the Pacific NW during warm weather try out Zyrtec (Ceririzine Hydrochloride) before you waste money on a doctor who might not know much about the cause of your Angioedema anyway.
If you're diagnosed as Idiotpathic, I suggest you don't give up looking for an answer, I know how insane it can make you feel to not know why you are having swelling attacks. Hope to hear from you. thanks!
I saw a dermatological surgeon yesterday and she is going to start me on a drug called cytoxan (a chemotherapy drug) and plaquenil ( an old drug used to treat malaria) pretty aggressive but I have exhausted all of my avenues, and being a nurse myself I know what to watch for, Do you have any suggestions or anything that works for you? Do you get hives all over your body and do you get them everyday?
Knowing that others are out there looking for answers and have the same problems does make you feel better though. I have been ill now for roughly 3 years, what has brought this on I have no idea. When you are sick for so long and you include constant fatigue, headaches, and anxiety, it is very easy to slip in depression, especially when you look for answers from medical professionals and they cant provide them, I am talking about are own local Dr’s rather than the ones here.
They drove me crazy to the point that I thought they were never going to go and there was no total relief except doseing myself up with up to 6 antihistamine pills a day. As most people know make you very drowsy cause the none drowsy ones i became immune to and had to change. I would sleep about 18 hours a day which made life very hard with a toddler. One day though they just went away as quick as they came. I have had a few episodes of them since but at most few weeks.
at first the heat really really irritates your itchy hands and you think you are going crazy.. but guess what folks it eventually subsides and it does go away..now how did I figure that out..?? when I first showered with my irritating itchy hands I would scratch my hands worse in the shower under the heat and then put my hands in cold cold water... the cold worked for a while but then the itch would come back...
Also the floors of the showers in swimming pools are usually washed with a mix of pure chlorine liquid and water - if floors not rinsed well the chlorine lingers in the atmosphere until completely vaporized. Does this feel strange when you also take a shower at home? If not it could also be a nervous issue in the sense that when you swim you are irritating some nerves - test and see if swimming a different stroke would aggravate the feeling. One stroke a day. Good luck.
It's an anti-histamine that doesn't make you as drowsy as benedryl does. The two forms that Zyrtec comes in has 10mg of anti-histamine, and that's the highest mg it has. You're only supposed to take one, but when I get itch fits I have to take two or three to get it to stop. Zyrtec without insurance costs $75.00, and I have to take two or three everytime I have a fit. It only comes in thirty day supply, so you can imagine how fast I can go through that stuff.
Debbie: thank you so much for all of your very helpful info!! I am now strongly considering going back and asking the Dr. to perscribe Elavil for me. If it works, than it must be shingles, right? (because I to have been convinced that it's somethaing gastrointestinal but they find nothing.) Would you mind answering a few more questions about the Elavil? -- Do you take the it as needed or on a regular daily basis? -- Again: how long before you experienced some releif from taking the Elavil?
It's just everywhere here and there and it really does drive you nuts... I don't have any idea why... I came here to see what was wrong with everyone else. Ok so you have absolutely no answers. Guess I'll go to the doctor... LOL I will say, it started out with my hands and feet. When I wake up it is a horrible warm "desperate" itch that has to be dealt with NOW! feeling... Understand what I mean by that? Even my lips.. mine has been going on for 2 weeks.
(Yes my spelling stinks) Stay positive, it ***** but stay on a plan that works for you, there is really nothing we can do, you just need to tell your brian to make it better. One last thing, aniexty attacks cause more fluid which cause much more issues.
i have no clue what causes it, but i know how to make the itching stop. I use tea-tree oil (you can buy it at a health food store or online) i get the pure 100% one, but if you have dry skin, try using a 70% or less one. It's kind of drying, but they mix it with a non drying oil when its not 100%. I rub some of the oil on my hands and it immediately stops itching. I can finally sleep now! :) now to find what is causing this...

Go in a day after shaving, and if you have a trigger, use it when you go in to make sure they can look at it while it's happening. For example, my wife's itching can be triggered by being cold. If she's shaved in the past few days, she gets goosebumps really easily, and it makes her feel cold, and makes the itching a lot worse. Try shaving one leg and not the other, then you have a comparison. If the shaved leg itches and the other doesn't, there's more proof on your side.
I've been on every kind of herbal combination imaginable. I've tried D-ribose, I mean ,you name, it I've tried it. The only thing that is ok is I get massages sometimes and that helps some.I have a electric blanket on my bed like the bottom sheet for pain. Anyone else with anything that they do that helps please tell us.
But once or twice a month, I sneeze uncontrollably, hundreds of times, all day long, and nothing, not Allegra-D, not Claritin, not Benadryl, will stop it. And the weird thing is, this sneezing is NOT accompanied by the usual itching. When I have a "sneezing day," I am nonfunctional. All events are canceled. It is absolutely exhausting. I sometimes wonder if it has anything to do with weather or barometric changes; it seems like it rains or there's a temp.
