296025 tn?1233256719 WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PREVACID USE WITH HEP C? SINCE ITS EXPENSIVE IS THERE A GENERIC FORM?
Avatar n tn I have had a feeling of a lump in my throat almost continuously for several months now - used to be off and on but now it's al the time. I have had several tests done due to some gastro symptoms. An endoscopy showed that there is mild/moderate hyperplasia in a small area at the z-line. The doc said its prob a reaction to inflamation from light reflux. My questions are, is it possible that the lump feeling is a result of the hyperplasia?
Avatar n tn Personally, I like Nexium. I think it is a better drug. I have a drug plan and I have to take Prilosec. I can't even get the trade name, I have to take the generic. I took Nexium for a few years and I do think it worked better for me. I don't know about water brash, sorry.
Avatar m tn he prescribed for me aciphex but i have not taking it yet is not covered and i did my own research i found out and please correct me if im wrong. clarithromycin might help that.
Avatar f tn My husband was originally on Aciphex, but placed on Nexium after our insurance stopped covering aciphex and he was miserable. Aciphex has always worked so much better for him. Finally, after a year of misery he's back on aciphex and so much happier. I hope it works as well for you.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried Zegerid? So far I have tried Prevacid, Aciphex, Prilosec,Protonix, and Nexium. Aciphex gave me bad side effects and Nexium made my reflux symptoms worse. Prilosec did absolutely nothing for me. I was successfully treated for H. Pylori in Nov 07. Since then I have been suffering from Water Brash and now heartburn. I don't know where to turn. My GI now wants me to take Zegerid(isn't this med just like Prilosec with sodium?).
Avatar m tn Hi bklyn, thanks for your reply. I drink one, occasionally two, cups of coffee or tea each day. A caffein-free soda perhaps every-other day. I otherwise eat a low fat diet, and drink plenty of water. Breakfast is generally cold cereal, occasionally fried eggs. Lunch is soup and a PB&J sandwich, or simply a cold-cuts and cheese on rye. Dinner is a protein (mostly chicken, occasionally beef, pork, fish or tofu, or beans), two veggies, and a starch.
Avatar m tn told no I am not fine, one area no concern, other area metaplasia, was I still taking the Aciphex. I have gone back on the Aciphex but am terrified after reading on websites that I did the wrong thing. Endoscopy only done originally because I had still unexplained/diagnosis following three days of diarrhea, cramping, dehydration. On antibiotiic, H pylori ruled out. History of GERD, hiatal hernia. Control symptoms with diet, OTC Gaviscon.
Avatar f tn Aciphex is a fine choice for a proton pump inhibitor to treat the GERD. If the symptoms continue, you may want to consider a 24-hr pH study to quantify the severity of the disease. Sometimes adding an H2-blocker like Pepsid or Zantac can help. If GERD continues to be present, and the symptoms refractory, you can consider surgical treatments like a fundoplication. Otherwise, other disease can be considered, including delayed gastric emptying, and evaluated by a gastric emptying scan.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Aciphex for a couple years with good results. However I recently had a sinus infection and took Amoxicillin for 7 days. Here it is, 2 weeks after stopping the Amoxicillin, I am having severe heartburn again. Did the antibiotic have anything to do with this?
Avatar f tn well I am going to see my GI doc monday.. I have GERD and was taking AcipHex but had to stop when I found out I was pregnant.. so I am hoping it is just severe GERD related to that.. however, my lower back (flank, both sides) )is hurting more this morning, where the kidneys are.??? I am just wondering if the 2 can be related.. took pepto bismol last night and that seemed to help the stomach pain a little, but not completely... thanks for input!

193988 tn?1215023883 re cancerous. Luckily, prescription meds (aciphex) have made all the difference in his condition and he can now eat normally again. A reflux diet mostly involves avoiding acidic foods and beverages like alcohol, caffeine, tomato products and spicy foods. Because reflux is often worse when a person is lying down, avoid eating two hours before going to bed. In serious cases of GERD, over the counter meds won't help.
455075 tn?1223052517 By any chance did you switch from brand name synthroid to a generic? Sometimes the levels of thyroid hormones in generic just aren't as consistent as they should be. However, it just might be your body adjusting to all the changes - I had a TT in May '06 and had perfectly good levels until my 3 month followup, when I went hypo and needed a dosage increase. I'd call you doctor and tell them your symptoms and ask to have your thyroid levels tested.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar m tn 2 weeks ago had sudden nausea (never vomited) just nausea. It was intermittent. I have a history of GERD due to an ulcer 14 years ago...Been on prilosec, nexium aciphex, etc., ever since. My GP ordered an upper GI. All normal except MASSIVE GERD. He doubled my nexium to 2 a day. Also had a chest xray which was normal. He ordered abdominal blood work - all normal (gall bladder, liver, pancreas, etc) Still couldn't shake the intermittent nausea....
Avatar n tn My Gastorentologist asked me to continue to take Aciphex. I am not comfortable taking these medications for such a long time and when I stop taking the medication I am getting buring in my stomach which I never had before. Is the any cure for my condition?
Avatar n tn Yes. Long term use of PPIs like aciphex causes decreased absorption of vitamin B12 leading to a deficiency in this crucial vitamin. Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms include numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Permanent nerve damage will occur if vitamin B12 deficiency has has gone without treatment for a sufficient time. The baking soda test: Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate, not baking powder) in an 8 ounce glass and drink it.
Avatar f tn The only thing that would touch the GERD was aciphex and my insurance company kept fighting me to take a generic because they didn't want to pay for aciphex, but the generic was for prilosec and didn't work for me. In Oct 08, I was finally sent to an ENT for what was supposedly "unrelated" issues, but turned out to be thyroid anyway.
Avatar f tn it is a wrong name for drugs just to make more money for the first drug maker who did the drug generic is the same drug made from another drug maker, this is why the name generic is very wrong, generic sounds like the drug is different but only drug maker is different.
198506 tn?1251156915 Do you think this may be a side effect of the Aciphex? Thank you in advance for any insight you could provide.
Avatar n tn ) )that my stomach was stripped and now needs to heal and then maybe I can tolerate fructose again. Also, after I drank the fructose solution from the test I had NO symptoms...shouldn't I have had something if I'm drinking a fructose solution....that was on a Friday and I had no problems on Saturday or sunday...yet another question...when I have an offending food...how long until the reaction starts and how long will it/can it last? Thank you for taking time to read all of this....
Avatar f tn My doctor does have me on 2 20mg aciphex a day and I thought perhaps it was tricking my body into thinking it didn't have enough acid, so was producing too much, so I cut myself down to one Aciphex a day and seem to be doing better. Thanks for asking.
