I think you may have an anal muscle problem, particularly since you've had this since you were a girl, and could be an operation might help you. Quit drinking the coffee during the day... only drink it when you usually go to the bathroom IF you go in the morning or after work... if you drink coffee after the evening meal, it'll keep you up at night.
Hello, I must ask why are you using the enemas? Did the doctor prescribe them because you have been constipated? You stated that you have used 8 of them already, is that in one day or over some time? It is possible your pain is from the frequent enemas but it is hard to say. Please give more info so that I may be able to answer your questions.
I am a first time mother with only 5 days left until my due date. I've done this all natural so far not taking anything except Tylenol and prenatals.I really don't want to accidentally induce labor. Is there anything I can do to relieve constipation that's safe this far into pregnancy?

s without taking a laxative (have taken them 2 times - 1 week apart). Before trying the laxatives I did 2 enemas (2 days apart) with very little success. I have stomach pain and bloating. I too suffer from chronic constipation and colonic inertia. That is when the muscles do not work. There are several tests to determine if it is a muscle issue. I do disagree with the doctor above, fiber is not the answer to all constipation. My doctor told me that fiber can just make things worse in people that have muscle issues. It just bulks up even more and then you look pregnant. The key to my finding out what was wrong was finding the right gastroenterologist.

Hi there...I did a little research and found that mineral oil enemas do not apear to be toxic to cats. BUT...there is an enema out there (phosphate enema) that is very toxic to cats. I think some of the confusion comes from the fact that a brand name enema (Fleet) makes both mineral oil enemas and phosphate enemas.

I have not had a regular bm in a week. I am losing sleep and my stomach literally feels like it's doing flips. I have tried stool softeners, hot tea, coffee, relaxing. And nothing! I am miserable. Hubby has tried everything to help me, but it won't budge. Also, on top of this, it seems I have caught a cold from goodness knows where. This is causing me to not be able to sleep either as I am up all night coughing.

I know what you mean. I have had this problem for up to 10 days.
For me, sometimes I have to use sodium based liquid laxative for severe constipation- they sell them in drug stores. They are usually lemon or cherry flavored- but they are a last resort. They taste awful. Fleet enemas are also helpful. I've actually used them together.
I also use Kleri Tea. Usually one tea bag, steeped for about 8 min, will do the trick.

What is temperature of Water? Is it better to use fresh water than the phosphates in enemas for fear of harming inner tissues? Any other pointers for one embarking on the dark side??
