Do kitties get seasonal allergies? Our older Spirit (about 12ish, spayed) has been sneezing clear mucus, has bright clear eyes, good appetite, normal behavior (wants to play and does her pm yodeling and such) but this has lasted a good week now. Well as some of you know my cat Abby is extremely attached to me and sleeps with us in the bed. Abby cannot stand to be away from me and we know why. My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays,she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.

I've developed severe allergies since moving in with my girlfriend who has a cat and a dog. So severe that I am constantly sick whenever home, find myself waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air (asthma - I have an inhaler), and hacking up a lung in the mornings. We've tried vacuuming more and bathing the animals but it being a small town home, living in close quarters, it does not seem to help. Now we are looking at me moving out and starting allergy shots.

Hi, I get allergy shots for cat dander and pollens. Mine are covered under preventive care and are 90% covered. I had Rush and Rush day is kind of expensive. I take Xyzal (antihistamine) and Nasacort (steroid nasal spray) for allergies. Both are prescription medications. Benadryl works and it's OTC, but is really sedating and you have to take it several times a day. Tammy2009 is right about cat bathing.

He used to suffer when anywhere near cats but for some reason they picked up a stray cat and wouldn’t you know it, ever since then these symptoms started and have been getting worse. My theory is that the constant assault of the cat dander is causing an autoimmune issue which is making his glands swollen which in turn are pushing on the nerves in his should which go into his arms. Hi, just had a question. I get ringing in my ears that both my family doc and ENT says are caused from allergies. It comes and goes, somedays it's barly noticeable, somedays it's worse, it's similar to if you clench your teeth, it's that same noise, I take nasonex everyday as suggested by my ENT. I do gave a clicking in my jaw, so now I'm half wondering if its TMJ, or if its because I still have my wisdom teeth?

My cat does the same thing. I've had her looked at and they kept saying it was probably allergies. She also gets a weepy eye from time to time and I have to get an ointment to put in her eye. This last time we decided to try antibiotics in case it was some sort of viral bacteria or something. I've heard herpes in cats can cause these type symptoms too. You might want to get that checked out. Otherwise, it's probably just allergies.
