Avatar m tn Check into celiac disease. If you suffer from vitamin deficiency specifically vitamin d and k or also calcium deficient. If you are suffering from gas, are lactos intolerant or gluten intolerant then you have bad bacteria in your gut and probably celiac disease. My guess is that PATM is a cause of many factors specifically bad bacteria in the gut. Bad bacteria in the gut poops toxins which can cause many side effects like gas bloating etc...., good bacteria poops vitamins and minerals.
Avatar n tn pylori infection can cause atrophic gastritis. Stomach surgery is common cause of vitamin B12 deficiency. All patients who undergo stomach surgery need to have their vitamin B12 status evaluated, or better yet, to supplement with injectable vitamin B12 Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity can cause vitamin B12 deficiency.
Avatar m tn I think yellow stools can mean a lack of bile. I'm far from an nutritionist, but that sounds like a digestive matter, maybe from the drugs. Many, many people are allergic to Sulfa drugs, and throat swelling is a common symptoms of drug allergies. I'm very allergic to Morphine Sulphate, and I have throat closing/swelling, or whatever happens if I get it.

Do I really need to take all three? or can I just take Vitamin D?
Avatar m tn How can you know if this is sebhorreic derma. from vitamin deficiency and getting rough with a face scrub? or the onset of perioral dermatitis/rosacea? I'm scared that what I do next will effect the rest of my life...
Avatar n tn //www.vitamindcouncil.org/ as suggested above. I concur with the recent posts. Vitamin D deficiency can cause many problems unknown or ignored by some doctors. I am proof. My level was <7 and I had many symptoms associated with the deficiency. I was prescribed 50,000 units once a week and noticed almost immediate improvements in my level of energy. For years I complained of being tired to my doctors and my age, job, menopause, etc.
Avatar f tn It could be Vitamin D deficiency. It could also be a defiency in magnesium and it vitamin B12. Are your iron levels ok? You should insist on being tested. I was deficient in D, iron and also supplement with magnesium and B12.
Avatar f tn Most of us have moderate to severe vitamin D deficiency, including people living in sub tropical countries, since so many people spend much of their time indoors with their office work. So, they aren't in the sun enough to boost up their vitamin D. In the winter, though, since we're living in a place where we can't get sun exposure for our skin even when there is sun, most of us need to supplement vitamin D.
Avatar f tn Vitamin D deficiency is commonly due to not enough sunlight. However, the causes of vitamin D deficiency are numerous and you may have more than one condition contributing to this deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency is estimated to affect at least a billion people worldwide. When vitamin D levels are not rising well or at all (vitamin D resistance) low magnesium levels are the first suspect. High doses of vitamin D can worsen an existing magnesium deficiency.

Avatar f tn Excerpt from Know the Importance of Taking Enough Magnesium with Your Vitamin D... "Vitamin D, just like all other nutrients, works in harmony with several other nutrients to perform its many functions. Most importantly, vitamin D requires and 'uses up' magnesium to convert from supplements or sun into its active form in the blood. As such, it is a big mistake to simply take large doses of Vitamin D without taking the need for magnesium into consideration.
Avatar f tn If you have the symptoms and signs and meet the criteria for diagnosis of fibromyalgia, then this is likely not caused by the vitamin B12 deficiency. However, treatment of your vitamin b12 deficiency with appropriate doses of vitamin B12 may improve symptoms such as fatigue. Regardless, vitamin B12 deficiency should always be treated, as it may be affecting several parts of the nervous system. Thank you for using the forum, I hope you find this information useful, good luck.
Avatar f tn Hi Dr. Fong, I have been having muscle twitching(all over the body), muscle weakness (thighs and calfs)and soreness x 2 months. All my blood works are normal, except vitamin d level is 15. Does vitamin d deficiency can cause those symptoms?
Avatar m tn My doctor is on vacation and the other doctor in her practice does not believe that Vitamin D Deficiencies cause pain (yes, that is exactly what I was told). The hematologist referred me back to my regular doctor for the pain as he was brought in for a different issue. What do I do?
Avatar m tn Vitamin D is a neuro-hormone and there are studies showing that it does improve mood (depression) but I'm don't know through what mechanism. We have had similar responses to vitamin D in that I began with a level of 20 and went up to 27 after approximately 3 weeks of therapy. I've had problems tolerating high doses so it will probably take me quite awhile to reach maximum improvement on a reduced dose.
Avatar f tn t get my head around one little deficiency could cause all these problems, but after many many tests and everything clear apart from this, I realise she is right! I am on 20,000 a day for two weeks then I have to go back to the DRs for tests, now I know what is wrong with me I can move forward, I just wonder how long it will take as I have read it can take at least 3-6 months before you turn a corner.
Avatar n tn Doc. Said it was a vitamin deficiency, cause i do not eat enough B6 or B12 vitamins, so i was getting bruised easier and have long lasting pressure marks, so i need to remember to take a multivitamin. He said it was the blood vessels underneath my skin that are becoming unstable because they do not have the vitamin and then bursting causing the bruise.
Avatar f tn This is my first post, I have been researching the effects of vitamin D deficiency, which brought me to you guys. I went to my Dr. with some worry-some issues, Did blood work and the only thing that came back abnormal was my vitamin D levels and B12 , which my Dr.. does not seem too concerned about. My vitamin D level was 11 , 3 months ago and I went to my Dr. feeling worse than ever, she did another round of blood work and I am at a 8.2.
Avatar m tn Hello~It sounds to me like you have a severe Vitamin B deficiency, this will cause the tongue to look red and be sore, I know, it has happened to me. I suggested taking a good, high potency B vitamin, add to it, extra B-12 and B-1. Also, add some brewers yeast to your diet, this is chock full of B vitamins as well. I like to put a teaspoon on my cottage cheese or pop corn, it tastes yummy on pop corn actually. Give this a try, it should get better in a few weeks to a month.
Avatar f tn Your labs show you have vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency can cause many symptoms and some of those symptoms are actually due to calcium deficiency since you need vitamin D to absorb calcium. Calcium deficiency symptoms do include pins and needles, muscle cramps, headaches. Optimal vitamin D levels: 40 - 60 ng/mL (100 - 150 nmol/L). Causes of low MCV and MCH include: Copper deficiency Low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria).
Avatar f tn Hi Biochemist357, thanks so much for your advice. Really interesting as I had a vitamin D deficiency too which I was told can cause degeneration of spinal cord, could that be a cause? Is there anything else I should be asking for to treat it? Many thanks!!
Avatar f tn Is it common for those with ms to have abnormally low levels of vitamin b12? I read that a vitamin b12 deficiency could mimic symptoms of ms but that doesn't explain remissions. Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
Avatar f tn To answer your question, no. The body needs B-complex vitamins (which can easily be obtained from eating red meat), but a lack thereof doesn't necessarily cause vitamin D deficiency. Do some research and you'll see that Vitamin D isn't really a vitamin at all. It does, however, play a role in the proper functioning of almost every system within the body.
