My 35 year old daughter had a stroke on August 26, 2008. I have also been looking for a message board or a group for support for her. Everything I am finding is for older people and I must say, young people's issues are so different. If any of you find something please come back and post it. I would be curious to know why you each had your stroke at a young age? My daughter's was from birth control pills and I think this is more common that most people realize.
Are there any support groups that meet for Chiari survivors, sufferers in Knoxville, TN. My daughter had decompression surgery a year and a half ago. Since then she has been suffering from headaches and mind seizures as well as fear, depression and anxiety. She has had to quit her job and we are probably going to have to file for disability for her. I think a support group would help her feel not so all alone.
I have shied away from going to support groups for various reasons but am beginning to think now maybe one would be helpful. Thoughts?
I feel like I am losing ground daily not only physically but also emotionally. I have applied for social security disability (something I said I would NEVER do) because my physician refuses to release me to go back to work. I just feel that I can no longer be the "strong" one.
It seems that Seattle does not have any support groups in the area? How do people cope when they find out they are positive for HSV 1 or 2? I was diagnosed over 3 years ago through a blood test IGg. I have pretty much isolated myself from going out, meeting anyone and I have no one to talk to at all. I got blood tested after going online and requesting the STD test through quest diagnostics laboratory. My results ccame back positive for both HSV 1 and 2.
s checked out of the marriage more than before as in he will not support me financially,buy anything I may need even if for our home. I don't get pocket change! It's so bad this on top of all the other bull I put up with that I'm full of anger and hate for him he's like a child I can't talk about anything at all with him. He's become so mean and selfish. Says the most awful things! My situation is that I have no options, sick of hearing ppl say change it as if I can.
Yes I have friends and I'm sure they have groups and stuff... I work a full time job I'm okay during the day.. my problem is when I come home to an empty house/bed what's when I start freaking out.. and getting depressed and upset....

In the past I have actually contacted all the local hospitals in my area and I live in a large metropolitan area asking if any of them offer support groups for eye conditions or would in intrested in hosting one on their campus. None offered any and only one would think about the possibility of having one. There are Community support groups for the Blind.
I was just curious how many of you out there are getting aftercare and what kind? After I failed over and over and felt completely beat I realized that I could never let my guard down and needed a support group to help me STAY clean. I did go to N/A for a short time, it's a great support group, but it was not for me. I go to meetings on Friday's, it's a lil different from N/A. I guess my main source of aftercare is this forum because it has taught me the most.
Yeah I understand the difference between a made up war on women and a real war on women and the womens groups in America only sticking up for liberal women. They will not stick up for conservative women and will not talk about anything overseas. Should they not want same rights for all women no matter where they are? They are for WOMEN right? Oh no I am wrong, they are for women who are liberal.
