Common Questions and Answers about Divorce laws per state

divorce

Avatar f tn How to file for divorce in (whatever state). I got one on ebay when i went through my divorce. Between that and searching the internet and talking to people who have been through one...I did my own divorce without a lawyer, didn't cost me a penny and I got what I wanted including support and custody arrangements. I was however fair about it. You might check into one of those books for your friend. Even if they aren't going through a divorce it does cover custody and support.
Avatar f tn I didnt want to hear the comments i should have waited till it was final and all the negativity.
Avatar f tn Find out the laws in your state. I am here in TX and if the other party doesn't respond or contest the divorce will continue. If no response then they give up rights to anything mutually owned potentially if the filer makes claim. As far as telling him, that is purely personal and depends on your relationship whether friendship/respect exists between the two of you.
Avatar n tn In the divorce paperwork they will set visitation. Idk what the laws are where you are but here in KY you can not file for divorce until the child is born. You can file for legal separation but that is it. I would go ahead and call a lawyers and see what the rules are in your area. You may be able to file but not go to court until after baby is here. In divorce papers they will set up child support, visitation, medical support for baby etc.
Avatar f tn I have been wanting to leave my husband for several months now. And he is on to me that I'm seeing someone. Which I have been. But every time I tell him I don't want to be with him anymore, he forces our love for me to love him and I don't. I love him in a caring way but not an intimate way. Hes a type of person who gets hurt very easily, and I want to know how bad of an idea would it be if I told him I had been seeing someone for 7 months?....
Avatar f tn I looked into costs of DNA when I first found out and if I wanted to be divorced prior to birth it could have costed up to $1600.not sure what state you are in or the laws there but you need to get a lawyer and get paperwork started.
10707428 tn?1415569790 My husband kicked me out yesterday. He said he wants a divorce because he doesnt love me anymore. This is all so sudden, and a shock to me, because i thought we had a great marriage. My question is, i want to move outside the country, im 7 months. My question is can i fly on plane across the ocean when im 7 months? Can he sue me for kidnapping his child even though he's not born yet?
Avatar f tn Ok I can help u with this as I worked with divorces and paternity for 12 years prior to my career now. But I'm from Texas so laws change from state to state but usually minor details. But by TX law it would complicate things. Legally the legal father is your husband. Now naming your bf as the father on the birth certificate doesn't establish paternity between the baby and ur bf. It actually doesn't do anything. U can name anyone on the birth certificate.
Avatar f tn Check your local laws. They vary from state to state. Here in SC, I was told by a cop that since the father and I were never married I had complete legal custody of our son, even though he signed the birth certificate. I also have set it up with his mother that he is not to be alone with our son, nor can he take him anywhere unless she goes along as well.
Avatar m tn t work and she is the bread winner and in the past i used drugs to hide my pain and my pride. I only straighten up when she threatens divorce. Then I see what I have done. I ask her to point it out to me and she's tired of doing that. She doesn't have a life.
5111430 tn?1377663221 So my husband is on my last nerve! I'm done with it we've been together since February 21, 2011 got married February 25, 2013. All he does is blame everything on me constantly picking fights! He's always right and I'm wrong Im done with it all, idk what to do at this point besides divorce, but then what happens after divorce???? We have a 1 year old and I'm 17+1 with our 2nd what happens in court about custody?? Anyone been through this??
Avatar f tn It actually depends on where you live. What your state laws are. My state, for example, is an at will employment state. (I think that's the term) they can and will fire you for anything. They can say I don't like the color of your shoes, you're fired. Make sure you look up the laws for your state.
Avatar f tn In TX just because you're married doesn't mean his last name has to be on the birth certificate. Here they let you choose weither you want him to sign, last name & if you Want him there!
Avatar f tn It would affect custody rights but seeing your children are raised that is not an issue. This is how it is in Canada, and our divorce laws are similar I think. I bought a book on law and divorce when I went through mine. It was enlightening to say the least. We were **** poor broke so there wasn't a lot of marital assets. I did threaten him with all I would do to him if he didn't pay for the lawyer for the divorce though. So at least I got $1000 out of the dead beat.
Avatar n tn I got one of those letters and I will tell you I did not sit and feel sorry for myself. Nope. Let me just say this Dr's can say what they choose but If you haven't got caught Dr shopping. Didn't fail a test he will write that prescription until l you find another that will. He can not leave you with out the medication that you are accustomed to or he will get sued and he very well knows it. Do not let a DR **** you out of your med.
Avatar f tn The finances can be complex related to divorce and each situation is different. Each state has different laws too. Do you know the laws of your state? Is the house in both your names? I understand the fear you have of losing money on the house and having to find another home for yourself. It stinks. Getting a spouse out is a bit hard. Divorce should do it but you need someone to advise you. Document everything related to his drug use. Take pictures. Record things.
1530342 tn?1405016490 Here is a link to the gun laws, restrictions, state by state. As you can see the laws in a lot of the states are very lax. I didnt compare them to the federal law which takes precedence over the state tho. So for anyone interested to find out what they are in your state, here is the link. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn Basically your benefits are determined by your employer. So I may have BCBS and you may have BCBS, but we aren't both getting the same coverage if we have different employers. The best thing to do is contact your human resources department or bneefits department to see if whatever benefit you are looking for is covered, e.g. IVF....or you can contact the health plan and see what they have to say. Many plans will cover infertility testing...
Avatar f tn But what has a greater effect on your care may be rules or recommendations, sometimes state laws, that set maximum limits for daily opioid medication consumption. Some states, like Washington, have a law that requires a qualified pain doctor to oversee cases where people require over 120mg morphine equivalent daily (MED).
Avatar f tn Ignorance I know first hand cause my n laws really wreck my nerves. Most days I'm stuck hollering at kids and I don't understand I will shut my door and lock it some me time. Everyone beats down my door if I'm sleep and don't answer they will call my phone 1000 times annoying as hell. This is my first child but they expect for me to get up every morning get my nephew ready for school and take him but I quit after him missing a few days they got the picture.
