We both have other priorities though- me with sorting out my divorce and taking care of my son, he has a ten year old son and is finishing his master's degree. I do know you are eligible for Cobra (36 months I think) under his insurance at work. It is expensive but you would get a rate given to all their employees ..better than nothing. If he makes the big $$$$ and you have been married more than ten years, it is possible that he could be made to pay for the Cobra. Ask your lawyer about it.
I had breast cancer 5 years ago and went through the wringer. A year after finishing treatments, I told my oncologist that I was about to lose my health insurance (and since have). During an argument with my husband he said he will move out of state and not be in my child's life. I'm 30 weeks pregnant. I have recently calmly asked him if he meant it and he said yes. When my son was born in 2012, I fought for his sperm donor to pay child support. A year later he was summoned to pay it but has not made the first payment. In case of a qualifying event such as death or divorce, Federal COBRA can be extended from the original 18 months to as long as 36 months (18 + 18 = 36 months); however it doesn't seem like you have had a qualifying event (as described by COBRA law).
The good news is that after exhausting your COBRA you are HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act) eligible, which means you will qualify for some type of coverage depending on your State of resident.
