Avatar n tn One is if you have hypothyroid or Hashimoto's disease, which both mean your thyroid gland is not producing enough hormone, and thus you can get that collection of problems. So, visiting an endocrinologist and getting your thyroid tested is how to find out if it's your thyroid doing all this to you. Two is if you are taking some sort of medication that is giving you these as side effects, so you would review any drug you're on and see if you need to have it changed.
Avatar f tn Well, I'm glad I'm not alone in the memory department. Not that I would wish any one on this post, especially you Dave, to have memory problems, but at least I feel more assured that it is normal. Thanks for responding.
1260255 tn?1288654564 Yep. Examples: I spent two hours training a new volunteer at work. The next week, she came in and I just glanced at her and didn't say hi. Her face looked familiar, but I assumed she was just some substitute worker from another branch library. When I finally remembered half a minute later, I said, "Hi Melissa!" Her name is Angela. Also at work one day, I made some derogatory comment about men while kind of gossiping with female co-workers (which I shouldn't have).
Avatar m tn ve done cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and alcohol. My issue is that I feel like I have memory and cognitive issues due to my past drug use. I have since graduated from college and hold a computer related job. I do well in my job, but can't get over the past drug use and blaming it for my perceived inadequacies. I do brain training programs like mindfit, sudoku, read books, yoga, work out etc. I am literally trying everything I can to try and regain my sharp memory and cognitive skills.
Avatar f tn I do know that if I am really tired I will have memory loss to the point that I cannot complete a sentence. So does it mean that when I am 73 my brain will act like it is 83 or older? This really has me worried.
Avatar f tn As I got older, I realized and it was medically documented that many of my problems came from that wreck. The pain distracts me from thinking clearly, I forget things like you and I use the wrong words, and the fear from the accident makes me nervous. You say you hit your head. I suppose you could ask for an MRI so the doctors can look and make sure nothing like a swollen blood vessel or other abnormality from the accident is pressing on your brain, causing your symptoms.
Avatar m tn It sounds like you may be having some work problems. That can cause stress and the memory problems too.
1830047 tn?1321667793 A doctor once explained to me that a particular anasthetic works like that. Consciousness and recording of memory are two different functions in the brain. She told me what I said while coming out of the anaesthetic, and I had absolutely no memory until a couple minutes later in the recovery room. I am a recent addition to this forum...Just out of curiosity, have you been checked out for Lyme Disease yet? What are your symptoms?
676143 tn?1312941771 So does anyone else have problems with memory lately? I feel like the baby is sucking my brain away. I keep forgetting so many little things. Luckily, it hasn't gotten me in to too much trouble yet - but one of these days I am going to forget something really important!
Avatar f tn I have the exact problem. I have ADHD. I dont remember a lot before the age of 13, from then I had to mostly relearn everything I had learned in my younger years. Now I find it hard to remember anything I read, listen to, or try and study. I feel lost and confused since I am only 19 with this type of problem.
Avatar f tn My general neurologist referred me to all of them. The last one was an M.S. specialist (today). She said a had a number of problems that don't add up to anything specific. I have a balance problem, a memory problem, a slight vision problem, and hyperreflexia. I have small white matter lesions in the periatrial and centrum semiovale of my brain. Are these common areas for M.S? I had a negative lumbar puncture. One neuro said I have M.S.
804276 tn?1480858056 i have had really bad memory problems for most of my life and was wondering if my conditions could cause this. i have points in my life, many, that i just don't remember at all and they aren't bad situations. everything from what i ate yesterday to a family member coming to visit from out of town, years ago, but i don't remember it ever happening. i'm so afraid of alzheimers when i get older but i don't think my memory problems fits alzheimers.
1399170 tn?1333845258 I'm 16 (turning 17 next month), and I also have the same memory problems you're having. My guess is that it's stress from school, your schedule, and personal life b/c the middle school/high school part of your life is very busy and stressful. ADD might also have a part in your memory problems. You had mentioned that you forget things like homework if you get distracted.
Avatar m tn There are neurologists that specialize in memory problems so if this persists you might want to request a referral to one... and the sooner the better. You may also want to get your thyroid hormone levels checked. It's a simple blood draw. Disturbances in these hormones can cause memory impairment.... as can disturbances in several other hormones. Obviously there can be other conditions that effect your memory such as vitamin or mineral deficiencies.
414131 tn?1202530891 I am experiencing various problems mostly with memory. I am 49 and was diagnosed a year ago with diabetes. My A1C was 6.5. I was very tired. I could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. All I had to do is sit down and start to relax. My brain was not working so well either. My memory was becoming almost a thing of the past. I was having what I call random access bad sectors. It would strike randomly and I never knew if I would recover what I just forgot.
963268 tn?1312900315 I have mobility problems, and I've had cognitive problems - of the two, I'd much rather have problems with mobility. Although it makes things tough sometimes!
Avatar m tn Memory problems and/or "brain fog" are a very common symptom of hypo. However, as you mention, other scripts, etc. can also be to blame. If you'd post your most recent FT3, FT4 and TSH with reference ranges (ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report), we can take a look and see if you look like your meds are well adjusted for you. Do you have other hypo symptoms as well? What thyroid meds do you take and dose? What other meds are you taking?

Avatar f tn Also noticing memory problems. Anybody have any ideas? Sensory preception problems have been mentioned to me. Going to U of M not to much info coming.....
Avatar n tn Hi, How is your stepbrother? Encephalitis or inflammation of the brain caused by a virus may present with fever, headache, nausea and vomiting, seizures, personality changes, memory loss, and even coma. It can be due to a variety of viruses and may not respond to antibiotics at all. Symptomatic treatment like fever and pain medications may help. Many people with encephalitis make a full recovery.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am wondering if anybody has a suggestion of medications that work to help with memory problems associated with SCT that will not cause more memory problems or possible brain damage with long term use?
Avatar m tn Sorry if this is the wrong board, but I'm not sure where to post this. I've been diagnosed with a b12 deficiency and vitamin d deficiency, along with low testosterone and a few other issues. Lately I've been having A LOT of trouble with memory, and it's scaring me. My problem is that i'll see something or hear something, and it reminds me of 'something' but I can't figure out what that something is. It happens so often that it's becoming pretty scary.
1763947 tn?1334055319 Hi, I was wondering if any one else has experienced problems with short term memory? Mine is getting worse by the day and I am really worried. My friend called me one night and the next day when we spoke, I didn't remember ever talking to her the night before. This type of thing is happening more and more. My move was delayed until the end of the month which means I am delayed in seeing my new LLMD. Would love to hear if this is something many people experience?
765802 tn?1263300851 You are welcome, I have found that many folks who have short term memory loss do take meds, you may still find that the Pharmcist says they should be okay , if that does happen see whether your memory returns when you (ask the Doctor) if you stop them for a few days. This is up to you,I am not reccomending you do it is your choice and only as a test. 2 of the meds plus the new statin are strong meds...Ask before you do anything, I still think it is med related Good luck let us know .
Avatar m tn From my previous post everything was ruled out. The thing that i am most concerned about is the memory problems, constant detachment, its like my brain and mouth is disconnected. When i talk it feels like my brain is not coming up with the things to say and it is not working together. I have that constant empty feeling in my brain. This all happened.after that screaming episode like something changed in my brain. and i lost my memory.
Avatar m tn It seems like Wellbutrin is another one that people have had problems with. If it is not MS, it could be from the medications you have taken.
