My mom needs to know if i am in need of medical help! Thank you.
Avatar f tn I dislocated my knee in April this year, went to the hospital and they popped it back in. It took from April to July for me to recover, with different knee braces and pysico. A week after getting discharged from the hospital in July, my knee dislocated again however this time it popped back in by itself, it took until September for it to be fixed. I just got discharged from physio last week (November).
Avatar m tn Hi Joedev Have you ever dislocated or otherwise injured your knee? There is a possibility that it is either your knee cap "sublucating" (partially dislocating) or damage to your cartlidge. When the "lock" occurs, how do you get it to "unlock" and do you get the sensation of something "moving back into place"?
Avatar f tn Well, you've landed on the multiple sclerosis board, but having recently dislocated my knee, I've also had a knee mri and a visit with an orthopedic surgeon and physiotherapists. I would think this is a relatively normal knee (depending on your age). I imagine they were evaluating you for a torn ACL/PCL/meniscus? I expect there is another board with members who will be more helpful :).
Avatar f tn There was no break on the x ray they originally gave him, The knee cap dislocated several times over the following 3 weeks (when he wore a brace)after the x ray, so the cast was put on but no repeat x ray was performed. I will check back to this forum for help as it goes on, it's nice to know there is someone listeneing!
Avatar f tn He is taking out the plica, its gotten calcified and it pushed out my knee cap, so its not technically sublaxation because the plica is making the cap out of place. I appreciate your response and thank you for caring.
Avatar f tn t ask me about swelling or continued obvious heat in the knee, nor did he tell me if the dislocated patella had moved back into place, nothing. Do I go forth with the PT or get a second opinion ASAP? The “good” orthopedic specialists in my area book out a good ways. Thanks for any advice you can give.
Avatar m tn on investigating they found that my femor and knee cap was in a bad way and worn and in time i will need a knee cap replacement, however thankfully not at the present time. Iam a fit person who teaches amrtial arts. My problem is that it has been weeks since my operation but the knee is still badly swollen and sore and i am still struggling to straighten it and bend it behonf 40 degrees..
Avatar m tn I was putting in padded flooring in my home gym for about 4 hours. Since then I've had pain in my right knee only when kneeling on my right knee (like when tying shoes). It's to the side of the knee and feels like something is being stretched laterally at first, before I get a sharp pain that feels like it's stinging/tingly. It is not completely on the side of my knee, but in the softer area to the side of my knee cap.
457721 tn?1256640798 Also, in some cases, strengthening the muscles around the knee cap and/or re-balancing the strength of the muscles around your knee, can help stabalize it. I have what they call "bilateral patella-alta", meaning both my kneecaps sit too high up, so you can imagine how easy it is for me to dislocate them. Due to the awkward position, I can also only wear knee gaurds for a limited time or risk "Patellar compression syndrome".
Avatar n tn Seering pain shoots through my knee joint and down the sides of my knee. Have I dislocated my knee? Or is it something like a severe strain?
Avatar m tn I would first say, do not do any exercises that cause pain. The pain could be realted to the knee cap. Apply ice (no heat!) 10 minutes at a time a few times a day.
Avatar f tn But no use, then had advised me to wear knee cap for few days. I was feeling better with knee cap. I removed it after 25 days, it was little better for 2 days, then again the pain is back. After few days, went to orthopedic, he said no problems and advised me to do some exercises. Then also no use. I have still have the pain in my knee and following parts....couldn't talk for more than 10 mins. Could you please advise me how to solve this and become normal.
Avatar f tn I was told that I have patella feminel pain, I am use to having trouble kneeling and walking after a shift at work and and my knee being weak and the knee cap moving around, but lately even when I am not doing anything it feels as though something is push up on my knee cap, and extremely painful and I cant get the pain to go away. At time it feels as though something is being wedged under my knee cap.
Avatar n tn They went up the stairs, and so did this monter. Climbing/Crawling as fast as I could up the stairs, the top of my knee cap (Patella? area) of my knee got "caught" (slammed into) the curve of the next step up. It felt as though my knee cap slammed downward towards my shin/ankle area. A loud POP sounded and my knee instantly went numb and within about 6 seconds looked as though it had 3 ounces of liquid piling up in it. Within about a minute, a bruise was visible.
Avatar f tn m sitting and move it a certain way i cannot make them go straight without pain and then a pop. Also when I ice skate or roller blade the medial side of my left knee cap hurts and the lateral side of my right one, what does this mean if anything?
Avatar f tn UPDATE ~ received X-today, but it's unlikely anything will show up. I feel it's soft tissue damage. At least she confirmed swelling, and the blood pooling in my ankle, though it's not as bad as the 1st week of injury. Next will be an MRI after results are sent to her. She gave me a script for Celebrex because I can't tolerate most NSAID's. Another question?? I have no back pain, could this possibly be sciatic nerve pain.
Avatar f tn The pain occurs mostly above the knee cap and slightly along both sides. I have never had any knee injuries nor do I remember injuring it prior to when the pain began. I made a doctor's appt for February 22nd but it seems to be getting worse and i'm not sure if I will be able to handle the pain. I have minimal swelling above the knee cap but no redness, warmth or presence of a fever.

Avatar n tn t remember which) are too weak (due to the fact that my knee are still growing) to keep the knee cap from sliding over to far and causing inflammation and swelling in the knee. So, it would be great if someone knows what is wrong and what it is called. Thanks.
Avatar f tn ll usually last a few days and go away. sometimes it is accompanied by knee pain (i dislocated my knee cap in high school about 17 yrs ago) And sometimes there is a radiating feeling in my inner thigh. sometimes I have all these symptoms at once or sometimes 1 or 2. a bit before it all started happening I noticed the veins behind my need were getting darker but not bulging. none of the areas feel warm and no redness. on the inside of both knees I have a large cluster of spider veins.
293157 tn?1285873439 s orthopedic doctor that same day and then was started on a physical therapy routine to strengthen my upper leg muscles to hold the knee cap in place. It is simply a group of exercises that I can do at home. I saw the therapist for a few weeks to practice the exercises. In the meantime, for four days I stayed off of that leg, got a knee brace, got a cane, used R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression and elevation). After four long days, it was fine and has not happened since.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been having pain mainly in my left knee above and to the left of my left knee cap. I have had X-Rays and a MRI to see if any problems can be found. The doctors said they have found nothing wrong. I went a physical therapist around April of last year during spring track. He said I didn't have enough thigh strength. I do the exercises daily he instructed and they seem to not work anymore. Right now I am running winter track.
Avatar n tn Lately I've been having this popping in my knee cap when i stand or just plain walking. My knee will give out and sometimes stiffen up and it is very painful. I'm 29 and overweight I'm 5-6 and 210lbs. i think it might be to much weight on my knees, because I;ve never been this big before, but I'm not sure. If there is any pain medicine that you can suggest I would really appreciate it.
Avatar m tn The pain is most apparent when i lift my left knee cap, you know how you can tense or whatever and your knee cap will move up.sometimes along with the pain i get twitching in my knee, i dont know what it is that twitches, but sometimes its rapid twitching that passes quickly. there must be something wrong because the right knee is fine. the pain isnt even bad, i can cope with it.
2092579 tn?1332911982 Doctors say that i just need to take it easy to prolong the life of the joint. I wonder if the problem is with the knee cap and what can be done to give me complete relief and make it feel normal.
