During this time I had chapped lips, dry mouth and a white tongue. I got over the pharyngitis. I still have chapped lips, dry mouth and a white tongue. White tongue is not thrush. At age 13, I started wearing lipstick to cover up my discolored lips. Over the years, I have consulted several dermatologist and none were able to tell me why my lips are discolored or how to treat them to remove the dark spots.

I have not burned, bit or done anything to cause a bump on my lip. It does not hurt only feels a little tight and is not discolored in anyway. It has been coming and going for several months. Any thoughts on what this could be?
About 5 weeks ago I noticed either sides of my tongue were discolored and then a tingling, pin-pricks sensation begun. Then this discomfort began spreading. I noticed "pimple" like cluster under my upper lip. And this discomfort kept moving around my mouth (still does). My gums also appeared inflamed and have some white areas under the surface.
I went to the doctor, she prescribed me Peridex (?). She didn't want to give me any anti-biotic. There was no sign of fungus either.

my upper lips have 3-4 dark spots and I don't know if it's from the sun or not but i recently got it this year. I don't remember when but it was definately after april. On my bottom lips, some are partly red and some are dark, and there are also a few light speckles that almost form a line between the red and the dark area of the bottom lip. is there a way to reverse this or treat this discoloration because it REALLY bothers me! thanks! i also got a photo.
I have very dry eyes, mouth and lips. I am also suffer from fatigue, general body soreness which feels like the flu, and muscle weakness. I use serum tears, systane (over the counter), and restasis for the dry eyes which provides some relief. I take very good care of my teeth, use biotene products and chew a lot of gum (trident with xylotol) but still have decay and erosion.
Tested neg for hsv1 and hsv 2 but i keep having sores in my mouth off and on and patches on my lips that get really irritated
Hi im broke ive spent alot of money on doctors and urologist and dermatologist in the past year and a half and i just need some help. I think its possible i may have genital and oral hpv or possibly not but i havent had any luck pinpointing my issues yet. it is red and when I put water it is discolored . I used many topical creams and yet nothing really works...I did a urine analysis and the result was: urates + and few bacteria .... I took effervescent and the pain started to disappear but the reddish still exist
I used antifungul and bacterial and even steroid but there is no difference ......the urologist said that I have enlarged prostate and this cause me pain in the opening of my penis ....
the tingly area right above my upper lip appears to be discolored slighty and a touch raised. and i have a small sore in the corner of my mouth that does not itch or burn or tingle. despite the fact we told each other we were clean, i'm concerned i've contracted something. Red dye 40 in Kool Aid and Mio was causing my peeling. Also look out for Mineral Water which is in most "natural" lipbalms. A chemist friends peeling came from that and I'm avoiding that as well (including mineral makeup). I'm using a MAC lip condiitioner that looks like a gel (not the one w sunscreen). I'm better after 2 months of peeling.
I would like to know if there is a cure for my discolored lips that I have had since I was teenager. I am now middle aged and I feel so disfigured and it seems that as I become older I am getting more withdrawn from everything and everyone because I am so self conscious now. I had sought out treatment years ago, but when the dermatologist told me there was nothing they could do I just gave up hope and tried to live with it.
Ask your dr to write RX for "Miracle Mouthwash" . My mouth sores started in corners and then the chaped lips and then all around the mouth. My wife found the "Miracle Mouthwash" suggestion somewhere. Had already asked the dr about it but he didn't suggest anything except to go to a dermatologist. Hope it works for you.

I have discolored lips also from smoking though. My bottom lip in center is very red or very pick. Rest of lip around that discoloration is normal color. Can't wear lipstick especially reds because my lips look very uneven. is there anyway to get this redness or pinkish toned downed to get back to narmal skin color. Not pretty at all.
But she closed her lips and I was drunk and kissing her outer mouth(not even the lips). I am very worried about gonorrhea. Are the tests for oral gonorrhea accurate? Are the treatments for oral gonorrhea effective in curing it?
I have read that most gonorrhea infections oral or otherwise go away on their own if left untreated. The reason I worry is I am a smoker and smoke more than 10 cigerettes a day and if that might be a impedence for my immune system to act against the oral infection.

it could be somet in your lipstik n tht, i use to get very bad chapped lips tht spread across my full lips and mouth to the bottom of my nose.
Thanks for the reply doc. The upper lip looks discolored from the small white dots which spread across my entire upper lip. You could see them in photo. It isnt like smooth color changes from dark to white. It is cause by lots of small white dots. Currenly I'm not able to access dermatitis due to the place I live. And again thanks for the advice for my chap lip.

Do you have any other signs and symptoms? Burning mouth syndrome causes chronic burning pain in your mouth. The pain may affect your lips, tongue, gums, inside of your cheeks, roof of your mouth, or widespread areas of your whole mouth. The pain from burning mouth syndrome typically has several different patterns. Treatment depends on your particular signs and symptoms, as well as any underlying conditions. Drink plenty of fluids.
Is your husband on treatment for HCV? I have the same problem with mouth sores...inside my mouth and in the corners of it. The sores inside flare every couple days after my Friday shot..usually by Monday then fade by late Wednesday. A Biotene mouthwash or spray at work helps as does a weak salt/soda solution to rinse with.
The fever concerns me though, especially if he is treating. I think a call to his Dr. may be warranted for that.
