Discharge from nipple during mammogram

Common Questions and Answers about Discharge from nipple during mammogram

discharge

Avatar n tn Squeezing the nipple sends message to the brain and the pituitary gland responds by increasing prolactin levels, which in turn produces discharge from the nipple. The discharge can come in a variety of colors - gray, green and brown as well as white. Some women are more prone to more discharge including women on; birth control pills, certain blood pressure medications or on major tranquilizers. These medications increase prolactin levels in the body.
Avatar f tn I recently noticed during my menstral cycle a yellow discharge from my left breast when I squeeze it from outside the nipple pressing in toward the nipple. I'm very concerned that this may be some form of breast disease as I've not had this occur before. Further reason for anxciousness is that I am not currently on a medical aid. Young and concerned.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am 43 years old, do not take hormones, and I have been having bloody discharge from my right breast. I had a mammogram, and a ultrasound, and they said they saw a "spot" and want to keep an eye on it, and come back in six months. I did not breastfeed, do not take hormones, had a hysterectomy, and I have an empty sella. Where else could my hormones come from if this is hormonal, and should I be worried about it?
Avatar n tn I felt a warm and tender on my my right nipple and notice some discharge first it was clear and now it's starting to look green, first it was light green. I went to the doctor and she notice that same nipple is inverted. I have an appoinment next month for a mammogram to see what it can be.
Avatar f tn I recently had a bloody discharge from my left nipple, this was a large amount, bleed through my bra onto my shirt. I went to a Breast Cancer doctor, had a mammogram and ultrasound, showed nothing except dense tissue in left breast. They took a smear of the discharge, results came back with benign atypical cells, what does that mean? I had an MRI done on friday, still waiting on results.
Avatar f tn I had a mammogram. Had blood nipple discharge then. Had Dr appt 1week later Dr did exam found bloody discharge again! Said to wait 6weeks, could be from the mammogram. ( I had a surgical biopsy on that breast 6 months ago) Is there need for concern?
Avatar f tn Nipple discharge can occur from many causes and the discharge can be almost any color and consistency. It's usually nothing to be concerned about but there's no harm in checking with your Gyn. about it ... If you mammogram was normal I wouldn't think it would be from anything serious. Ck. it out though if you are overly concerned. Regards ....
Avatar n tn It is important that you see your doctor concerning your discharge. I had a blood tinged discharge from my breast and normal findings on my mammo. My dx was dcis, ductal carcinoma in situ, which is a cancer that is confined to the breast but often times does not show up on mammos. Your doctor may take a sample of the discharge for testing, or might send you for a breast mri or biopsy.
Avatar f tn Hello. I am writing on behalf of my mother who is experiencing nipple discharge. She is 64 years old and does not take any medication. She has been experiencing spontaneous nipple discharge from one breast since December. She went to the doctor last week and was put on an antibiotic. They sent a sample of the discharge to the lab and it came back no growth. Yesterday she had a diagnostic mammogram and sonogram.
Avatar m tn In the meantime I have started to notice some clear nonsticky discharge from that breast. I am going for another mammogram and ultrasound. Everything I read on postmenopausal women having clear discharge isn't encouraging. I have no pain and cannot feel any lumps other than this small one I have had for a while. Could I have cancer after just having a clear mammogram eight months ago? I am scared to death.
Avatar n tn Today in coming out of the shower I noticed serum leaking from my right nipple. I gently pressed the areola, and more leaked out. I checked my breast for lumps and there is nothing noticeable. I had a mammogram about 2 years ago and it was negative. I am 54 years of age, healthy and I live in the Middle East, so it's a bit hassly going to a doctor. Any idea what this could reasonably be. I have never had anything like this happen before.
Avatar f tn Hello! I've had have some nipple discharge for a couple months now. It has been a milky white discharge. Not pregnant and haven't had sex since March. I had nipple pain on and off. My dr sent to for a mammogram/ultrasound but was done on the breast and not the nipple. Today while washing my body i notice the milky discharge and went and press down on the side or nipple to see if any more milky discharge comes out and it scared me cause this brownish (blood?) discharge came out.
Avatar f tn I have been having a reaccuring nipple discharge for the last 3 months. At first I it was staph infection, and ultrasound was done and everything is normal. No discharge for two months unless I squeeze the nipple. 3 weeks ago a blood discharge without squeezing, back to the doctor and staph infection again taken 2 kinds of antibiotic. I had urltrasound and mammogram done again. Twice this year. This las mammogram and ultrasound found some lump and schedule for biopsy this Friday.
Avatar f tn In 2006 I had 2 episodes of spontaneous bloody nipple discharge from my left breast that I observed on my bra. Again one episode in early 2007. A bilateral ultrasound was unremarkable except for cyst in right breast. My general surgeon said to watch and wait to see if it occured again. It did not. However, In May 2009 I had one episode of spontaneous bloody nipple discharge from my right breast and in June 2009 a reoccurence (1 episode) in my left breast. Again on my bra.

Avatar f tn In 2010 I had an implaon implant and two weeks later I had the blood/brown discharge from my right nipple, about 4-5 days later it went away and never came back. I hade the implanon out in Jan 2011 and exactly two weeks later, the same thing in the left nipple and same thing about 4-5 days went away and it came back last week. Could it be hormonal or have a caused a duct to be damaged, or in infection? I am so scared I have cancer. I always think negative!!
Avatar f tn While bloody discharge is never normal, colored discharge might mean amongst many noncancerous conditions- pregnancy, duct ectasias, fibrocystic disease(especially if there is lump), and Galactorrhea(relating to medicines and hormones). So many of the conditions as you well can see are not serious, yet it is required that you consult your doc right away and get an ultrasound and mammogram, as required. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn Dear Holly: A general comment about nipple discharge. Many women have some type of nipple discharge or fluid when their breasts are squeezed, and its normal. Squeezing the nipple sends message to the brain and the pituitary gland responds by increasing prolactin levels, which in turn produces discharge from the nipple. The discharge can come in a variety of colors - gray, green and brown as well as white.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your response. I just noticed last night and again this morning a "pus-like" discharge from the nipple of my breast that I am awaiting the biopsy on. It is a very small amount but kind of disturbing and wondering if it is related or if its normal as I have read that breast discharge is not uncommon though I've never experienced anything that looks like this before.
Avatar n tn It is a symptom that needs evaluation (as you are doing). Discharge from the nipple is usually associated with increase prolactin levels so with low levels and discharge there may not be any correlation between that and what is occuring in your situation. This symptom needs to be evaluated in context of your whole situation - the mammogram results as well as any other testing, your breast surgeon will be better able to discuss the causes in your situaiton as more information is evaluated.
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you see your Dr. for a clinical breast exam and possibly some type of testing (ultrasound or mammogram). Breast discharge that is spontaneous (without any type of stimulation such as squeezing) can be a cause for alarm but even then more so when it's from one breast only. You do need to have this investigated though as breast cancer in men is not all that uncommon. This of course would be less likely since you don't mention any lump in the nipple area.
Avatar n tn I have secondary infertility, now treatad with clomiphene and betahcg to induce ovulation.my age 35.now i have pain and a drop of brownish discharge from one nipple(right) for 2 days.
