ve been using anti-hypertensives for ten years now starting with Lotensen and then switching to Diovan HCT then to hydroclorothyazide for a year or two then back to Diovan HCT. I am about 20 kgs overweight. I walk every day and when in a good routine 8 kms a day, up and down hills through fields etc.

My blood pressure is now in the low range (averaging 108/58). At what point in my weight loss (goal of 220 or lower) would you think I'd need to have my BP meds changed (if at all). I just thought a member here may have already gone through this and would have some advice. Thanks in advance!!

I do in home oxygen therapy 24/7 but am breaking away from it, since starting my weight loss program.

Today I am at 110/69. I am losing weight and eating better than I did 3 months ago. 3 months ago I was at 230lbs, and I would always get these pains in my chest and my heart would beat fast. Current weight 207lbs. Cardiologist said I have too many extra beats and put me on Atenolol on Tuesday. But he doesn't know about my history of HBP from my family doctor. My BP had always been high since last year.

(1) My blood pressure has been dropping as I lose weight through exercise and diet; I've lost 12 pounds and my bp has dropped from 148/98 to 135/88. I am also taking Diovan though hope to be off it as I continue to lose weight. (2) I don't smoke and rarely drink. (3) I did have a stress test a year or two ago that turned up nothing significant. Any further testing I should consider? (4)I have spoken with my family doctor, but other than the stress test, she suggested nothing else.

I guess I just have hypertension, perhaps early stage heart failure signs, most of which are reverseable? Just low salt, exercise, weight loss and BP med? I read I should have had a full blood panel to check kidneys, liver, rule out Diabetes. All I got was a lipid panel. Cholesterol ok, triglycerides fine. I just don't understand an EF that high! I don't understand my Diastolic stubbornly staying around 90. But I want to rule out cardiomyopathy which no doctor has.

However, I have trouble sleeping, dry skin/hair, loosing hair, early menopause, fuzzy thinking, headaches(migraines), fatigue, increased difficulty losing weight, muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches(on meds for arthritis), irritability etc. All seem to be symptome of hypothyroidism, yet my endo will not even try a low dose synthroid. I am taking Diovan HCT and the few things I have read, say it can skew the results. I am at my wits end in trying to feel better.

my dad had a triple bypass last apr 21. last saturday, jul 4/2009 he started on diovan 160/12.5 (from corvesy+) and since Sat he's been experiencing chest pains that is not going away. is this a side effect? is he allergic to the this new med he's taking or is this angina? should he get himself to an ER?

I am also taking diovan 80.12.5 once a day. I would like to get off this medication as it is making me very sluggish and tired all the time. How do I wean off this medicine as I am only taking it for one month.

My question is could this be the result of the CVID? My PP reduced my Diovan HCL 160 to Diovan 80 to see if that was the problem. Should I be concerned?

I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.

I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for about 2 years now. I started taking Diovan 40 mg about 3 years ago, but my doctor thought it wasn't working so he increased it to 160 mg. After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together.

I started Diovan over 10 years ago as my blood pressure was borderline high. Started on 80mg, tried 160mg, back to 80mg and currently on Diovan 160mg/12.5mg HCT as of a week ago. My BP was spiking to 150/100 so my doctor decided to try adding the water tab. Here in lies the issue. Over the course of the last year I started noticing that I was getting very tired, and especially dizzy throughout much of the day. Headaches have increased, stiff muscles, and a general feeling of sluggish.

I started drinking lots of water and eating healthy. Doctor gave the OK for me to look into a weight loss program (non-surgical) at another hospital. I heard good stories about their program. No reason for the sudden increase in BP has been found.

A stress test 3 yrs ago showed no heart muscle damage. I am over weight..I am om synthyroid..simvastin..diovan..Omeprozole..iron..and I take tylenol for arthritic pain( about 2000mg qd. I am not under excessive stress. That said do I need to have any studies done?

August of last year I was put on Tricor and added Diovan 160 in Novemeber, and have always been taking 1000mg of metformin twice a day. Since November my blood sugar has become unmanagable (fasting in 150+ range). Recently I stopped taking Diovan, because I noticed that it appeared that this whole thing started after i took Diovan. I tested my blood sugar and my mornings results for two days were in the 130s and went up to 150 again, so I went back on Diovan per my doctor's insistence.

i am on diovan 360mg twice a day, betaxolo 10mg and hctz 25 mg. and i cannot loose weight, I have gained 20 lobs after taking the hctz for a year or more. Not matter how little I eat or how much i exercise I gain. I have tried stopping the hctz and then my bp shoot up. Help!!!

I had a cardiologist tell me a couple of years ago that I had the "heart of a 60 year old" - what does this mean? Anyone have a clue? I have controlled high blood pressure (Diovan) and am a bit chubby, have quit smoking a year ago.

I was slowly weened off Toprol xl and Diovan - about 8 months ago - and put on ccb -verapamil and dieretic maxzide iv been on them for about 4 months - and have been having problems, such as ankles swelling. and closeing throat when eatting! as well bloating belly conditions. over the past month iv noticed my face is always red in color. and my left eye has been twitching off and on.. I seem to dehydrate rapid and cant hydrate fast enough - even when I cutt down on the dieretic med.

I am 73 and take Warfarin for atrial fibrillation. I also had a hip fracture nine months ago. I also take a blood pressure medication, Diovan, and Metopropolol 25 mg. Would any of these drugs cause the elevation in liver enzymes?

It was a couple of yeras ago that I was on Diovan,but it did cause some weight gain.It did not include a diuretic.I am go happy that you both responded,and I am so happy I found this forum.

Hi I am also having the same poblems with my blood pressure being off the chart.I have been having the problems since March and they still havent got it under control .I went to the hosiptal last week with a reading of 208/135 at midnite with my head killing me. They did nothing for me expept to check my blood and found my creatin levels were high 52 <25 is normal from taking ,diovan 320,tekturner150,and my fluid pill torsemide 40 mg daily.
