Avatar m tn I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for about 2 years now. I started taking Diovan 40 mg about 3 years ago, but my doctor thought it wasn't working so he increased it to 160 mg. After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together.
378273 tn?1262097621 I am 73 and take Warfarin for atrial fibrillation. I also had a hip fracture nine months ago. I also take a blood pressure medication, Diovan, and Metopropolol 25 mg. Would any of these drugs cause the elevation in liver enzymes?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately your question was accidentally posted on the bird forum. I didn't notice your question posted on the heart disease forum which may be the best place to ask. Both medications are angiotensin II receptor antagonists which will relax the blood vessels and lower BP. As to which will work best for you, that's up to your cardiologist. It's not unusual to try one medication to manage CHF only to find it's not doing as well as expected, then try another med.
Avatar m tn I have had an heart failure due to high chotesterol so I am on medication for Hipertension/ High Cholesterol. I recent weeks after I start using Co-Diovan 160/12.5 mg in place of Hyzar I am experiencing a gradual tightening in the upper chest toward the neck/throat and it is as if i may stop breathing? I am not sure if the change in medication has anything to do with it! I use to to exercise for about 30 min. or more each day, I can do only 2-3 mins. and with great difficulty?
459164 tn?1206363843 Hi to everyone. Hope a dermatologist, doctor or anyone can help me with my question. Does Diovan cause cellulitis? or does it make it worst when you already have it?
406399 tn?1201884300 I have a @uestion please : After 6years on Toprol xl and Diovan , my Doctor switched me to another medication - verapamill and maxide - iv taken these before and had problems with them both !! fact is the verapamill ccb caused palpatations. and I was put on a beta blocker from that point on.. as to stop the palps and control the b.p. / the Toprol xl and diovan both lowered b.p well and stopped the palps for me.. but iv been living life in pain and suffering for 6years now..
343006 tn?1314446471 I was slowly weened off Toprol xl and Diovan - about 8 months ago - and put on ccb -verapamil and dieretic maxzide iv been on them for about 4 months - and have been having problems, such as ankles swelling. and closeing throat when eatting! as well bloating belly conditions. over the past month iv noticed my face is always red in color. and my left eye has been twitching off and on.. I seem to dehydrate rapid and cant hydrate fast enough - even when I cutt down on the dieretic med.
Avatar m tn I started Diovan over 10 years ago as my blood pressure was borderline high. Started on 80mg, tried 160mg, back to 80mg and currently on Diovan 160mg/12.5mg HCT as of a week ago. My BP was spiking to 150/100 so my doctor decided to try adding the water tab. Here in lies the issue. Over the course of the last year I started noticing that I was getting very tired, and especially dizzy throughout much of the day. Headaches have increased, stiff muscles, and a general feeling of sluggish.
343006 tn?1314446471 But, when I was on beta blockers (for palpitations), I had a stress test. My report says I had a blunted HR because of medication. I was able to complete the test, exercise as I would normally exercise, but my HR would not increase past 110 or 120. I remember being told that the BB was doing its job..keeping my HR down Now, I'm on an ACEI and now when I have a stress test, my HR increases as you would expect (180's). Are you limited to taking CCB's for the HTN?
514523 tn?1215832667 8 I have high bloodpressure and have been on Diovan for 2 months . But My Dr. is giving me Toprol and Zocor too while I wait to see the ENDO . I am kinda scared to take all these meds along with what the Endo is gonna give me. Anyone with hyperthyroidism taking any of these meds and do they have bad side effects?
Avatar f tn my dad had a triple bypass last apr 21. last saturday, jul 4/2009 he started on diovan 160/12.5 (from corvesy+) and since Sat he's been experiencing chest pains that is not going away. is this a side effect? is he allergic to the this new med he's taking or is this angina? should he get himself to an ER?
Avatar f tn All seem to be symptome of hypothyroidism, yet my endo will not even try a low dose synthroid. I am taking Diovan HCT and the few things I have read, say it can skew the results. I am at my wits end in trying to feel better. I know it is my thyroid, but cannot get doc's to listen. Any advice?
Avatar f tn For people who have glucose intolerance and a high blood pressure, diovan is a good medication since it decreases the risk of development of type 2 diabetes. However rarely diovan may cause muscle breakdown as a side effect which may cause achy legs. I would advise getting your symptoms evaluated by your doctor for the possibility and if diagnosed as the reason, it is advised to switch to other group of medications like ACE inhibitors for blood pressure control.
Avatar f tn since then I have been to a Chiropractor, had needle stuck in my back, had an x ray, a CT scan, an MRI, done almost 3 months of Physical therapy with every exercise for the Piraformis muscle, had branch block twice, nerve burning once, cortisone shot in the SI joint once, more exercises. medication to relax the muscles. medication for inflamation. Nothing helped except for 1 week when I had the first branch block injection.

Avatar f tn My question is could this be the result of the CVID? My PP reduced my Diovan HCL 160 to Diovan 80 to see if that was the problem. Should I be concerned?
378273 tn?1262097621 Do you mean Metoprolol? This is the generic Toprol medication all are slow release, SL as far as I know. But, you may be talking about something else. I respond because I have been on both Toprol and Metoprolol for periods of time, the latest has been about a year now. My dose has been much higher, as high as 200 mg a day (2x100mg). While this has given me undesirable side effects I am not aware of one being depression. I've read the warnings, maybe I've overlooked.
1346429 tn?1303874854 The aldomet is to lower my blood pressure, I was taking Diovan before I got pregnant, but the switched my medication because Diovan kills the fetus or causes serious birth defects.
Avatar f tn I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.
Avatar n tn In general mild blockages are not stented but are treated with medication which with diet, exercise and medication and risk factor modification can prevent coronary artery progression.
Avatar n tn My 79 year old mother, who lives in another state, is on medication for hypertension. She takes Carvedilol, Diovan, Dilitiazem, and Clonidine. Her doctor even talked about putting her on a fifth medicine. I'm not a doctor, but it doesn't make sense to me for anyone to have that many different prescriptions for one problem.
Avatar f tn 5 about one week ago and takes three bp meds; atenonol 25 mg, diovan hct 325/12.5, amlodipine besylate 5mg, also started Ranexa 5 weeks ago 500mg twice a day (for angina). His bp now is 110/60 range but with the dizziness on Monday it was 84/52. Would the nitro patch cause the diziness? He is to wear the patch for 12 hours and take it off at bedtime. He has had 3 angioplasty's with a total of 7 stents in the last 7 months and he is also diabetic with good control.
Avatar n tn my toes and lower legs are feeling numb. I tried metoprol and diovan hct and although by bp is in the normal range my heart rate is elevated unless I continue on the cardizem cd. Is there another medication that I can discuss with my cardiologist to replace the cardizem cd that will keep my heart rate in the normal range? I feel I've got to withdraw from the cardizem as the side effects seem to be progressing the longer I use the medication.
