Hi, I had a second ablation about 9 months ago and it apparently was successful because I have been in normal sinus rhythm since then. the problem I'm experiencing is with my heart rate. since the ablation proceedure my heart rate elevated to 100-110 bpm. my EP prescribed cardizem cd and it is keeping it under control now. the side effects are what's causing me problems. my toes and lower legs are feeling numb.

I am pretty constipated sometimes even after as much water I drink. I have been reading alot on the diovan hct side effects and come to find out that all of my problems are from it. I am going to have to find a new bp medicine. I sincerely thank you for your time to reply.

as I didnt have this happen before.. not even when on toprol or diovan. but did have worse side effects from them ! have you ever had anyone with these problems or symptoms , that is on verapamil or maxzide ??

I am also taking diovan 80.12.5 once a day. I would like to get off this medication as it is making me very sluggish and tired all the time. How do I wean off this medicine as I am only taking it for one month.

blurring vision - lazy eye lids- effects nerve in eyes. with long term use be it known, I went to my eye doctor (yearly visit) he found after testing, I had slight left eye signs of early Glaucoma. he than asked me what b.p meds am I useing daily? I told him, and he said - Point blank get off the Diovan ! it can cause Glaucoma.

ve been using anti-hypertensives for ten years now starting with Lotensen and then switching to Diovan HCT then to hydroclorothyazide for a year or two then back to Diovan HCT. I have a fasting blood glucose level of 101 and 102 for several years now and have been taking diovan hct and excedrin. I know these drugs have the ability to raise blood sugar readings. Should I be concerned about these readings? If I get off these drugs will my levels return to normal?

I had been on HCT 25 mgand Diovan Hct 320/25 mg for about 2-3 years. My primary doctor took me off the HCT. I had an appointment with my endocrinologist prior to this. I advise the dr what took place with the ER and my primary. The endo doctor then took me off the Diovan HCT and started me on Diovan so that i could take a renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests.

as the side effects from toprol and diovan are very harsh for me! I cant understand why a Doctor would go backwords and put me back on a medication that caused me problems before? seems strange to me ! and now that im on the stuff, im haveing all the bad effects again -shortness of breath at times, and dizziness and fatigue, massive headaches ! and cramping everywhere.. b.p dropped down but its not under control yet.. as it spikes..

Started on 80mg, tried 160mg, back to 80mg and currently on Diovan 160mg/12.5mg HCT as of a week ago. My BP was spiking to 150/100 so my doctor decided to try adding the water tab. Here in lies the issue. Over the course of the last year I started noticing that I was getting very tired, and especially dizzy throughout much of the day. Headaches have increased, stiff muscles, and a general feeling of sluggish.

Recently started Symbicort inhaler and systemic blood pressure went up 180/108 and was wondering if the med would be likely to raise pulmonary pressure as well. Doctor added HCT to already prescribed Diovan which seems to be working but am on low dose of Symbicort and may have to increase it.

I've been on Benicar HCT 40/12.5 for 3 years, it's the only BP med I've been on and it has worked wonders with no side effects. My BP is down to 110/70 from 150/90 and as I said, I have had absolutely no side effects to date. For me, it's a great med, but maybe not for you. There are many to choose from, just keep working with your doctor to find the one that works best for your situation.

Some drs are not up to date on the newest meds and some are unaware of side-effects. There are patients who can have negative effects - I know that one drug I took gave me hallucinations and it was a BP med, not a "psychiatric" med. Most pharmacists have access to the best kind of meds you should be taking. If a dr and a pharmacist work together, you have a better chance of finding the drug that is best for you. I have been on verapmil and maxzide for just over 30days now , switched off of toprol xl and diovan (due to adverse side effects and massive problems) Im started getting alot of trapped gas and bloating belly conditions! no matter what I eat or drink -it happens? it does go down within 2 or 3 hours after. but sometimes I get the worse ever trapped gas! painfull goes right to my shoulder and upper back and chest ! pushing bloating feeling ?

I have now been on Metopropol almost a month. I do get depressed (I probably shouldn't have read up on the possible side effects) and get tired very early in the evening. By 8 p.m. I'm ready to hit the sack. Very annoying-- The running hasn't been affected too much; I'm slower, but not by much. However, I'm constantly hungry. Munching all day long so have gained about 5 lbs (even though I'm exercising as much as ever) Is anyone else really hungry on beta blockers?

This is a very common high blood pressure med and both have the same potential side effects so I would think your symptoms are not related to your change in meds. You should discuss this with your doctor to be safe. There are many benefits to a diuretic, most BP meds have this as well. The idea is to decrease your fluid volume load which makes it easier for the heart to function and to help prevent the asorbtion of salt. Check with your doctor and see what he thinks.
