I have had gastric sleeve surgery on November 20th 2014 and have lost 55 pounds and still losing around 3 pounds a week. my goal weight is 150 pounds. In fact, my ocd and fear have increased since I started this medicine. ( I am also on Diovan and and a water pill). I have also heard the Metoprolol increases anxiety. I must say I haven't had many panic attacks but I do get these hot surges....any one else?
I am taking 75mg of plavix along with low dose aspirin. I am also taking 50 mg of metoprolol bid and diovan for blood pressure. What drug can I safely use to control the typical headache or backache.
Someone else told me the elevated enzymes could be due to my taking both Metoprolol and Diovan. And I also have very low BP at times which apparently can also cause this. I will make sure I track this.
Many medications can cause acid reflux, at the point where your esophagus meets your stomach is a valve or spichtner valve, this valve allows food and liquid to enter your stomach, but is not supposed to allow any acids to back up into the esophagus, Certain medications (Blood Pressure and others) relax this muscle and it stays open, when the acid rises back up into the esophagus it burns or irritates the lining of the esophagus causing chest pains that are often mistaken for heart problems.
I had the tests because I was having PVCs, the doc adjusted my BP meds, I take Diovan 160 hydrochlorthyazide 25 mg and metoprolol 25 mg x2 daily. That solved problem no more PVCs or not that I noticed. Now 4 years later they are back, only when i lay or sit, doc did Ekg it was normal, said not to worry, well they are scary and wake me up and that all I think about. Any ideas why they started or what to do. My BP IS good, my pulse is good, just driving me crazy.
I hope no one here gives you advice on going off a medication that doesn't included you discussing with your doctor. On the general subject of Metoprolol I'll say 25 mg once a day is a very low dose and hope your get some feed back from others on side effects. It seems they vary greatly person to person. For me 50 mg a day has minimal side effects, but yes, it does cause some fatigue. I am also in permanent atrial fibrillation which may be the real issue for me.
? . I have high blood pressure. I was taking diovan 320 and dilitiazem 360 & metoprolol 100mg. With this my blood pressure averaged 130-140 over 80-90. Mine runs about the same, the highest it has been is 110, and averages about 86 BPM, I used to be on Metoprolol, it was prescribed by a Cardiologist, and controls High BP by slowing the heart rate, that could be an option, if you have Palps, maybe your bouncing back and forth between Hypo and Hyper, I am Hypo and taking Diovan for BP, but my HR still spikes now and then, and with stress it tends to spike also.
and 400lbs) and have type2 diabetes, high blood pressure and lower extremity lymph edema. I'm on; ToprolXL, Lotrel, and Diovan/HCT for the high blood pressure, Gemfibrozil for slightly elevated cholesterol (I cannot take statins), Actos, and Metaformin for diabetes. I recently started physical therapy treatments for the lymph edema. The PT said that the HCT (HydroCloroThyazide) component of the Diovan is a diuretic which I remember being put on to help treat the Lymph edema.
I was still feeling dizzy and I wanted to stop the Diovan or the Metoprolol Succinate. My cardiologist said I should continue the Metoprolol succ and I can stop the Diovan. I was OK for a week or so, then suddenly, I felt the same pressure in my head again and I woke up at night. My BP was 150/100 and I got scared again. In the ER, they kept me overnight and I was admitted. The doctor put me on Metoprolol Succinate (25 mg) twice a day and observed me for 4 days.
You could see my vein on the left side above my eye towards my hair line pulsating, does this symbolize anything? Also I am now on blood pressure meds Diovan 160 mg 2x Daily, Adalat 90 mg, hctz 25 mg and low dose asprin......is this needed, not needed and will these be something I always have to take even if I lower my BP? Anything I can do to lower bp outside of lose weight.

I also have intermittent PVCs and PACs I want the doctors to take me off the BP meds because when I have the low BP I feel extremely tired, but they don't agree. Any suggestions or ideas? Hi all! I'm new to these forums so let me give you some extended Cliff Notes. 39 year old male who has been struggling with Anxiety for 20 years, High Blood Pressure for 13, Diabetes for 3, and now, Sleep Apnea.
I respond because I have been on both Toprol and Metoprolol for periods of time, the latest has been about a year now. My dose has been much higher, as high as 200 mg a day (2x100mg). While this has given me undesirable side effects I am not aware of one being depression. I've read the warnings, maybe I've overlooked. Metoprolol does make me tired and at high dose make me short of breath, which doesn't seem to be your reaction as you are able to run.
Hmm 2 of the more common side affects of diovan are nausea and vertigo... cymbalta can raise blood pressure slighty( 2-3 points) and can inhibit the the elimination of lopressor causing higher concentrations in the blood. I would question the doc about the cymbalta and the diovan.
I have a follow up visit with my Cardiologist's Physician Assistant (PA) concerning my change about 3 weeks ago from 100 (or more) Metoprolol a day to taking 50 mg Metoprolol and 240 mg Diltiazem XR (Diltia XT) a day. The former is Beta Blocker (BB) and the latter a Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB). Both are long/extended/slow (whatever) release and are often prescribed for taking once every 24 hours.
I was on Diovan and switch to metropolol 50 mg in May. I have since then gained 15 pounds pretty quickly. Could the new medicine be doing this. I haven't changed my eating habits and I am a 47 year old female.
I was going to be put on a month long Holter, but was not. I am on Toprol XL and Diovan. I am told I have COPD and ashtma. Could this be why my heartrate goes so high?
This is a long story, but I will try to make it short. As a child, I was raped by my Father and I never delt with it properly. I was very smart in school so I went off to University at the age of 15. There I met a professor who cared about me and was like a real Father figure to me. We engaged in unsafe sex, I was a virgin, and I contracted HIV 20 years ago. Back in those days they told you to go home and die, but I decided to take a job in Utah working for NASA.

I tried to withdraw from it. I took diovan hct and metoprolol after I withdrew from the cardizem cd but after 24 hours my heart rate was up to 110 bpm. my bp was normal but none of the other meds would bring my heart rate down. I took my regular dosage of the cardizem cd and my heart rate came back down to normal. after taking it for about 10 months now I seem to be experiencing circulation problems in my lower legs and feet that seems to be getting progressively worse.
Having finally been confirmed with SVT by an ekg in the ambulance my doc has me put on Metoprolol 25mg twice a day in addition to my Diovan HCT that I've taken for 5 years. My heart rate is now in the mid 50's to low 60's...was usually in the mid 80's. I'm also scheduled for an appt with cardiologist but not until December. I'm just a little concerned because the whole event was very scary and having turned 50 I need some assurance that this course of action is reasonable.

I used to have pvc's practically nonstop and still do occasionally. Thes were helped tremendously by the addition of Diovan to my blood pressure meds because they keep my potassium normal. But my trouble is sinus tach now. I had it before the diovan. Personally I believe the taking of Celebrex for two years started this.
Currently maxed out on Diovan and Toprol. Experiencing from 170/79 to 192/90 readings in mornings. My PCP has added Imdur: 2/ 30mg @ night with 320 mg Diovan; and 1/ 30mg Imdur with 200mg Toprol in the morning. I have a 45 year history of valvular heart desease having had 4 open heart surgeries starting at age 28. Resulting in 2 mechanical valves and a pacemaker. Believe me, I am not complaining and feel pretty good.
