Diovan and metoprolol

Common Questions and Answers about Diovan and metoprolol

diovan

Avatar m tn I was still feeling dizzy and I wanted to stop the Diovan or the Metoprolol Succinate. My cardiologist said I should continue the Metoprolol succ and I can stop the Diovan. I was OK for a week or so, then suddenly, I felt the same pressure in my head again and I woke up at night. My BP was 150/100 and I got scared again. In the ER, they kept me overnight and I was admitted. The doctor put me on Metoprolol Succinate (25 mg) twice a day and observed me for 4 days.
Avatar f tn my Dad went to see our family doctor. had his blood work and ecg done and showed no sign of heart attack over the weekend. the cardiologist and physician talked and they put my dad back to metoprolol 25mg with the diovan 160/12.5mg. so now he's on lipitor 80mg once daily, metoprolol 25mg (2x daily), diovan, and aspirin 81mg. any comment on this prescription mix? thanks so much for your advice.
378273 tn?1262097621 I respond because I have been on both Toprol and Metoprolol for periods of time, the latest has been about a year now. My dose has been much higher, as high as 200 mg a day (2x100mg). While this has given me undesirable side effects I am not aware of one being depression. I've read the warnings, maybe I've overlooked. Metoprolol does make me tired and at high dose make me short of breath, which doesn't seem to be your reaction as you are able to run.
Avatar n tn I tried to withdraw from it. I took diovan hct and metoprolol after I withdrew from the cardizem cd but after 24 hours my heart rate was up to 110 bpm. my bp was normal but none of the other meds would bring my heart rate down. I took my regular dosage of the cardizem cd and my heart rate came back down to normal. after taking it for about 10 months now I seem to be experiencing circulation problems in my lower legs and feet that seems to be getting progressively worse.
Avatar n tn ? . I have high blood pressure. I was taking diovan 320 and dilitiazem 360 & metoprolol 100mg. With this my blood pressure averaged 130-140 over 80-90. Now all of a sudden my blood pressure was down to 85-90/50 with a pulse of 50'ish, i was dizzy and felt weak. I dropped my diovan to 160 and dilitiazem to 120, but my pressure is still running about 95/55 w/a 60 pulse. I feel my blood pulsing? thru my body, and am sweaty. Whats up???
10483820 tn?1410466172 Currently maxed out on Diovan and Toprol. Experiencing from 170/79 to 192/90 readings in mornings. My PCP has added Imdur: 2/ 30mg @ night with 320 mg Diovan; and 1/ 30mg Imdur with 200mg Toprol in the morning. I have a 45 year history of valvular heart desease having had 4 open heart surgeries starting at age 28. Resulting in 2 mechanical valves and a pacemaker. Believe me, I am not complaining and feel pretty good.
378273 tn?1262097621 I posted earlier about a fainting episode I had after being in Afibs during the night. Have seen my internist and don't have blood results yet. He thinks it was due to dehydration or maybe low blood pressure (although my BP is usually high and I'm on Diovan and Metroprolol (for the Afibs) I think perhaps Diovan & Metropropol in combination is too much and making my BP drop. What do you guys think? In any case, I just had an episode of extreme slowing of my heart beat.
Avatar m tn I had the tests because I was having PVCs, the doc adjusted my BP meds, I take Diovan 160 hydrochlorthyazide 25 mg and metoprolol 25 mg x2 daily. That solved problem no more PVCs or not that I noticed. Now 4 years later they are back, only when i lay or sit, doc did Ekg it was normal, said not to worry, well they are scary and wake me up and that all I think about. Any ideas why they started or what to do. My BP IS good, my pulse is good, just driving me crazy.
378273 tn?1262097621 Without medication (I take Diovan and Metoprolol 25 mg daily) my BP is around 140/90. However a few weeks ago when at the doctor's with a knee injury it went up to 184/105! Oddly enough it gets really low after running: 95/55 I hate these extremes, can't be healthy!
Avatar f tn Thank you both for the important information. I couldn't have received this information from my Internal Doctor who is only part-time at the clinic I go to. I'll have the Gastroenterologist look into the valve where the esophagus meets my stomach. The oil I was taking may have caused it to stay open.
640719 tn?1277140030 I have had the same symptoms, Numbness on the bottom of the toes and balls of the feet, prior to December 2008, I was on Metoprolol for High Blood Pressure and now I am on Diovan, I do not have a problem with water, although since I started on treatment for Hashi's I have had an on and off swelling and pain in the ball and bottom of toes on my right foot.
612551 tn?1450022175 s Physician Assistant (PA) concerning my change about 3 weeks ago from 100 (or more) Metoprolol a day to taking 50 mg Metoprolol and 240 mg Diltiazem XR (Diltia XT) a day. The former is Beta Blocker (BB) and the latter a Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB). Both are long/extended/slow (whatever) release and are often prescribed for taking once every 24 hours.
Avatar f tn I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan. He told me to just stop taking the Metoprolol. I questioned starting off with such a high dose of Losartan. I seem to be very sensitive to these medications and felt starting right off with 100 mg was a bit high. Everything I've read online suggests people are usually started off with 50 mg.
Avatar n tn Some beta blockers are able to cross the blood-brain barrier and some are not. Propranolol and metoprolol are fairly able to do so, but Atenolol is, as far as I know, not. Which means, propranolol and metoprolol can provide more cognitive side effects (forgetfullness, confusion, mood disturbances, etc.) than Atenolol.

378273 tn?1262097621 I am really puzzled. I had two grey-out episodes last night with the Afibs. The doctor wants to see me to put me on a 3 week monitor. It is still too early to call the office, so I'm hoping someone can answer some questions 1.Could Coumadin cause the long pauses 2. I have a one degree left bundle block, do the new long pauses mean the bundle block is getting worse? 3. Can the long pauses be caused by too much medication (I'm also on Diovan and 25mg Metoprolol as well as the Coumadin. 4.
Avatar m tn I am taking 160 mg Diovan for high blood pressure, as well as 20 mg Levostatin for high cholesterol. I believe that I have ed caused by the Diovan. Is it safe to take ed drugs as well?

Avatar m tn 3 months ago I was at 230lbs, and I would always get these pains in my chest and my heart would beat fast. Current weight 207lbs. Cardiologist said I have too many extra beats and put me on Atenolol on Tuesday. But he doesn't know about my history of HBP from my family doctor. My BP had always been high since last year. Untill now my Family doctor put me on Diovan 80mg plus Cardiologist put me on Atenolol 50mg. Can High Blood pressure cause PVC's?
Avatar n tn Mine runs about the same, the highest it has been is 110, and averages about 86 BPM, I used to be on Metoprolol, it was prescribed by a Cardiologist, and controls High BP by slowing the heart rate, that could be an option, if you have Palps, maybe your bouncing back and forth between Hypo and Hyper, I am Hypo and taking Diovan for BP, but my HR still spikes now and then, and with stress it tends to spike also.
Avatar f tn I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.
