? . I have high blood pressure. I was taking diovan 320 and dilitiazem 360 & metoprolol 100mg. With this my blood pressure averaged 130-140 over 80-90. Now all of a sudden my blood pressure was down to 85-90/50 with a pulse of 50'ish, i was dizzy and felt weak. I dropped my diovan to 160 and dilitiazem to 120, but my pressure is still running about 95/55 w/a 60 pulse. I feel my blood pulsing? thru my body, and am sweaty. Whats up???

Recently I stopped taking Diovan, because I noticed that it appeared that this whole thing started after i took Diovan. I tested my blood sugar and my mornings results for two days were in the 130s and went up to 150 again, so I went back on Diovan per my doctor's insistence. Then my doctor suggested about two weeks ago that I switch to Lantus (My A1c is at 7.2 now). I did that and no change. I tried adjusting the amount, almost up to 50 a day, no change.

For three weeks of consistently avoiding gluten the BP has stayed in the healthy range. I diminished the Diovan HCT to nothing and plan in August after more walking and careful diet to have another fasting blood sugar done since I am hoping the high reading was due to the hydroclorothiazine and not belly fat, obesity and a family history of type 2 diabetes. So what's my question?

I have a fasting blood glucose level of 101 and 102 for several years now and have been taking diovan hct and excedrin. I know these drugs have the ability to raise blood sugar readings. Should I be concerned about these readings? If I get off these drugs will my levels return to normal?

I can no longer take my heart meds for high blood pressure and irregular hb; topomax for migraines; metaphormin; and a few others. Which I quit taking some of my meds before pregnancy because I did a lifestyle change in which it helped enough that I could quit taking the extra meds. As far as C-section...both my boys were early but big because of the diabetes (not gestational) and I could not have them natually so this is another C-section baby.

I am taking 160 mg Diovan for high blood pressure, as well as 20 mg Levostatin for high cholesterol. I believe that I have ed caused by the Diovan. Is it safe to take ed drugs as well?

my Dad went to see our family doctor. had his blood work and ecg done and showed no sign of heart attack over the weekend. the cardiologist and physician talked and they put my dad back to metoprolol 25mg with the diovan 160/12.5mg. so now he's on lipitor 80mg once daily, metoprolol 25mg (2x daily), diovan, and aspirin 81mg. any comment on this prescription mix? thanks so much for your advice.

3 months ago I was at 230lbs, and I would always get these pains in my chest and my heart would beat fast. Current weight 207lbs. Cardiologist said I have too many extra beats and put me on Atenolol on Tuesday. But he doesn't know about my history of HBP from my family doctor. My BP had always been high since last year. Untill now my Family doctor put me on Diovan 80mg plus Cardiologist put me on Atenolol 50mg. Can High Blood pressure cause PVC's?

Part 1: I am a 54 year old male. I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for about 2 years now. I started taking Diovan 40 mg about 3 years ago, but my doctor thought it wasn't working so he increased it to 160 mg. After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together.

Mainly for panic,and anxiety.I am a 43 yr old female,and seem to have inherited the high blood pressure.I thought the Klonopin would help with the blood pressure,but it doesen't seem to.I would like to know the best blood pressure med,without the side effects.Like weight gain.Maybe something that has a diuretic as well.Any answers?Thanks everyone!

Currently maxed out on Diovan and Toprol. Experiencing from 170/79 to 192/90 readings in mornings. My PCP has added Imdur: 2/ 30mg @ night with 320 mg Diovan; and 1/ 30mg Imdur with 200mg Toprol in the morning. I have a 45 year history of valvular heart desease having had 4 open heart surgeries starting at age 28. Resulting in 2 mechanical valves and a pacemaker. Believe me, I am not complaining and feel pretty good.

To bring down the creatin levels Now I am on clonidine 3 xs a day and tekturner 150 mg and diovan 160 mg . still havimng erratic blood pressure this moring 160/144...I am goin to a Duke specialist tomorrow and see what they are goin to tell me.....

I am 73 and take Warfarin for atrial fibrillation. I also had a hip fracture nine months ago. I also take a blood pressure medication, Diovan, and Metopropolol 25 mg. Would any of these drugs cause the elevation in liver enzymes?

I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.

I advise the dr what took place with the ER and my primary. The endo doctor then took me off the Diovan HCT and started me on Diovan so that i could take a renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests. With not being on the diuretics, my body was retaining fluid rapidly that I started to look like the pillsbury dough girl.

Why dont they ditch the ace inhibitors and beta blockers, and put you onto calcium channel blockers. These will lower blood pressure, by resticting the amount of calcium that the artery muscles can absorb, and act as a heart relaxant. 200+ is too high and sustained levels as high as this are likely to start causing long term problems. I assume kidney tests have shown they are functioning correctly?

This was very unexpected, but I guess the best surprises are! I have been taking Diovan (blood pressure med) up until this point and just read that it should not be taken when pregnant. I am about 6 weeks along. What effect will this have on my baby up to this point? This has me very worried!

I agree. However, there are medical conditions that can cause high BP and you usually don't know it's high. I can occasionally tell when it gets close to 200 and at that point mindfulness and deep breathing don't really help. I hate taking bp meds and have tried most of them and quit most of them but it finally got to the point where I accepted take them or die. Losartan is the least annoying of them.
