Avatar f tn Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
177337 tn?1310059899 I just got back from my internist. She is truly a wonderful compasionate doctor that really wants to help keep me as healthy as possible. Of course all my blood tests came back perfect except that I was low in Vitamin D. I was actualy hoping something was off so that I had a reason for the increase in these damn episodic pvc's that have been lasting for hours at a time. She wants me to try a channel blocker called diltiazem on an "as needed" basis.
182884 tn?1259312906 took me off of Atentonol because of the blood pressure problems or the fact that it may make the spasms in my heart worse. Can somone explain this to me?He allso put me on a new med called Diltiazem CD. HCL SR capsule, 180 mg. What can you tell me about this med, and what side effects are most common with it's use? My dr. wouldn't tell me all of it's side effects, acutally none of them, because he said he did not want to scare me?????
672586 tn?1280933658 Good Day, I would like to ask how long have u taken both the Metoprolol & Norvasc? I was prescribed by my Internist recently Norvasc 2.5 mg with Metoprolol 25 mg. I used to take Metoprolol with Diltiazem CD 120mg 2X /day for almost 2 months but noticed a "burning chest pain" with Diltiazem that's why I stopped using it. But now I'm afraid to take Norvasc, too.
Avatar m tn At any rate, my cardiologist prescribed one daily Diltiazem CD 120mg Caps. What seems strange to me is that Diltiazem is for angina and high blood pressure, but is only an OFF LABEL use for arrhythmias. Hence, I have noticed no change in my PVCs (perhaps even a little worse for these first 25 days on Diltiazem, and especially heavy PVCs when I first try to go to sleep at night), nor has my blood pressure been lowered.
Avatar m tn I mentioned about switching from Effexor Xr 225mg (which on my own I lowered to 150mg) He said that Effexor XR affects two different areas of the body whereas Zoloft only affects one area. Now he mentioned NOTHING about keep taking the Effexor Xr in lower does while I make hte switch to Zoloft. Am I supposed to just switch right over to Zoloft and discontinue the Effexor Xr??
Avatar f tn I was taking it for arrhythmias and high BP (160mg XR propranolol with 180mg XR diltiazam daily) and when I ran out 4 months ago I just kept taking the Dilt. hoping the symptoms were just withdrawals and that they would go away... Symptoms are what you would think, I'm just curious if to someone with similar conditions (i.
Avatar n tn I have been on Diltiazem for over 45 day's. And have tken Verapamil for over 4 years, I just can't believe their is nothing to do for this ever day i have between 10 to 100. Lately it is getting worse I feel like the one that isn't going to stop is going to happen real soon.
1021784 tn?1306363011 we can only offer suggestions....but perhaps discuss with your doc the pros/cons of Xanax XR vs Klonopin, which would only have to be dosed 2 to 3 times daily. Best of luck!!
612551 tn?1450022175 s Physician Assistant (PA) concerning my change about 3 weeks ago from 100 (or more) Metoprolol a day to taking 50 mg Metoprolol and 240 mg Diltiazem XR (Diltia XT) a day. The former is Beta Blocker (BB) and the latter a Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB). Both are long/extended/slow (whatever) release and are often prescribed for taking once every 24 hours.
Avatar n tn He also put me on Diltiazem ER, with instructions to take three 30mg diltiazem fast acting, 30 minutes apart for an episode (which I just had this evening).........I add a 7.5 mg Tranxene, and that seems to help end it.......I'm nort an anxious person, but it's my opinion that my brain just automatically goes into that state when my heart is beating that fast and erratic.........
Avatar f tn If it has a xr on the bottle then that means that it is extended release and made to trickle through the day. The good thing about it is that it is a off on med. That means that you have greater control over the need vs the just keeping it in the body. These type of medications tend to suppress the appetite and the on off makes it so that say on the weekends or long breaks many of us will not give them and feed the kids up LOL.
Avatar f tn I have tried weaning off the effexor XR a couple times and have gone into Panic Attack mode when I do. I only will get a panic attack maybe 2-3x a year, so I know that the medicine has helped (for 6 years), but I have to say that it definetly has decreased my sexual relationship with my husband (I have heard this is a common side effect). I have heard that lexapro or wellbutrin do not do this.
Avatar n tn my son is 7 years old and has adhd, after years of doing all the things we were told to do-behavior tech-counslers,theripy etc.my son have now been put on adderall 10 xr ,that had no effect so the doc said up it a little bit so now he is taking 20mgs a day xr-still no difference in his behavior.do we up the meds again.
Avatar n tn I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.
Avatar m tn I think you have to weigh the significant risks involving ablation and the location of your accessory pathway vs. drug therapy and living with your condition. How often do your events occur? Are you able to convert them yourself by some means; Valsalva, etc.? At 30 years old, time is on your side. Perhaps a new technique in the next decade will make your particular situation less risky. Verapamil is a serious, Class IV anti arrhythmic that is indicated for SVT.
Avatar n tn My husband das been diagnosed with depression and anxiety had been taking Effexor XR 75mgs or about 1 year however the side effects ie weight gain tiredness and loss of libido was troubling him. The switched to cymbaltor, due to high costs (even with insurance) of this medication is wanting to switch to somethig that is less expensive and that has a generic available. What about Wellbutrin or do you have any other suggeations?
1367899 tn?1278121440 My sister and I started a blog on Adderall to learn more about the medication along with alternative and complementary ADHD treatment options. Any feedback from users of Adderall or Adderall XR would be greatly appreciated. Topics to be added this week on http://Adderall.org How is Adderall XR different from Adderall? [Adderall vs. Adderall XR] What is Adderall? How to Make Adderall: [Adderall Background Information] What are the best Adderall and ADHD books?
Avatar m tn BP is relatively normal. I take indapmide for that (From my regular doctor). In fact when my cardilolgist put me on diltiazem, he took me off indapamide. That didn't last long. The diltiazem did nothing for my BP. It went back up (Only talking +/- 140/90), so let me add bavk the indapamide. So, that is not an issue. Just the MVP/ diltazem issue. The pulse can stay n the 60's for awhile. At most during the day, in the 80's. (Of course, that is only when the rythym is normal).
1796524 tn?1315586487 Watch out for "CR", "XR" and "SR" versions of meds. As far as I know, only Wellbutrin "CR" and Effexor "XR" are superior than the originals. I was taking 6mg's of Klonopin/day for many years before swiching to Xanax, also 6mg's/day. I suffer severe anxiety, and although the K-pins were O.K., they took too long to work and didn't stop panic attacks.
1622431 tn?1299070442 I have recently been diagnosed with pacs, and my doctor put me on diltiazem. Can any one tell me from experience how effective this treatment is?
1225040 tn?1274025598 and 400mg. vitamin E and wear a nitro patch at night for 14 hrs. and take nitro when needed. and diltiazem cd 120mg. once a day. I am supposed to call him in 3 weeks and see how I am doing, he also took blood work for thyroid and anemia. hopeful at some point they can get to the bottom of this. I at least have a little better outlook. I will keep everyone posted.
