Diltiazem xr dose

tiazac

177337 tn?1310059899 I just got back from my internist. She is truly a wonderful compasionate doctor that really wants to help keep me as healthy as possible. Of course all my blood tests came back perfect except that I was low in Vitamin D. I was actualy hoping something was off so that I had a reason for the increase in these damn episodic pvc's that have been lasting for hours at a time. She wants me to try a channel blocker called diltiazem on an "as needed" basis.
Avatar n tn I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.
Avatar n tn An overdose of diltiazem can be fatal, so if you are not sure if you missed a dose, to be safe, don't take any that day. I used to get a marker and put M T W T F S S above each pill in line (they were in the foil strips). That way I could see if I had taken that days medication.
612551 tn?1450022175 I have not heard back from my doctor (or his staff) yet so it seems they are not too worried about it. But then I am now on Medicare and not a big profit patient. From what I've learned here the swelling may be mostly cosmetic, it doesn't bother me, and if it were winter and I was wearing long trousers I might not even notice. I think I'll ask for a lower dose on my upcoming prescription refill and see if I can have the benefits without the swelling.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 33 year old male, not overweight, not diabetic, I've been dealing with tachycardia for some time now. It comes and goes. I found that 50mg of Metoprolol twice a day would mostly control it, but as a 33 year old man, I began to notice major erection issues since being on it. Talked to my doctor, they want me to start 120mg a day of Diltiazem. I'm a little nervous about it, but they assured me it's no more potent a medication.
1689583 tn?1387752394 It depends on what medication you're taking. I take diltiazem, although I take it for esophageal spasm. I don't have high blood pressure. I had to reduce the dose while in a study for a similar medication (PI). PIs can increase the amount of blood pressure medication in you if you take a calcium channel blocker like diltiazem.
Avatar m tn Although I said not to tolerate Verapamil, a doctor gave me another calcium blocker, Diltiazem, when I had atrial fibrillation. When I came home, I had to decrease the daily dose to half and then stop using it totally. Diltiazem made me weak (possibly low BP or pulse) and the rhythm became very variable. Doctors should be careful when prescribing calcium channel blockers. By the way, my pulse pressure (in sinus rhythm) can vary between 14 and 130. What does this mean? Is this normal?
Avatar n tn I am supposed to start taking pristiq 50mg. along with effexor xr 75mg for a week and then effexor xr 37.5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.
Avatar m tn I have suffered with taking diltiazem(180 mg ER) AND metoprolol (50 mg ER) for atril fibrillation for the past two and a half years. The side effects have been debilitating.. Both drugs have the same side effects and together and one or the other or both create what I can only describe as chaotic turbulence in my chest and pain in my left arm when the second drug kicks in.. My cardiolgist now wants me to add a blood thinner (xarelto) to my meds menu.
Avatar f tn i am 24 and am now on diltiazem lowest dose. i am very symptomatic to meds. i was on metoprolol and i had bad asthma with it. so recently i was switched. well i am a nursing student ready to graduate and am pretty fond of the heart and conduction, so i am affraid of things like clot formations and the fact that the medicine isnt stopping the flutters. if i up my dose i get very dizzy and feel like i have motion sickness like the floor is moving from under me. its really odd, anywho...
Avatar f tn I can't speak for the diltiazem, but the dose of Metoprolol is on the low end of the scale. I'm currently on 75mg, and had been as high as 200mg per day. The high end dosages are 400mg. This is not to that you could be adversely affected by your dose level. The best way to take care of your SVT is to eliminate rather than try to supress it. An electrophysiologist can eliminate for good with a cardiac ablation procedure. Have you considered this?
Avatar f tn i was just wondering where 6 mg Xanax fits in the continuum of Xanax. is it a high dose / average dose / worrisome dose /okay for a couple months / "other"? i get conflicting information about this. i thought Xanax XR was considered much more safe than the IR because it just takes the edge off persistent anxiety through most of the day -without the buzz-. is this so?
612551 tn?1450022175 s Physician Assistant (PA) concerning my change about 3 weeks ago from 100 (or more) Metoprolol a day to taking 50 mg Metoprolol and 240 mg Diltiazem XR (Diltia XT) a day. The former is Beta Blocker (BB) and the latter a Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB). Both are long/extended/slow (whatever) release and are often prescribed for taking once every 24 hours.
Avatar f tn i am on efexor xr i am 37.5 and i think i need to put my dose up but scared to I halps me but the axiety steel there .but every one is diferent i think.
397906 tn?1208241269 5mg and have been on this dose for 3 months now.Is it possible that xanax xr can cause PVCs?, i seen in your earlier posts that you say xanax xr builds up rapid tolerance?well i am concerned because of these skipped heart sensations that i have been getting, i also have mitral valve prolapse since i was 16(now 22). My question is could the pvcs be caused by using xanax xr on a daily basis, because of the rapid tolerance you mentioned with shorter acting benzos, maybe i should dose the .
Avatar m tn Referred to another doctor for cardioversion. He put me on diltiazem 180mg . I told him about the problems with tiazac. He told me the lower dose and because along with rythmol would be OK. Some symptoms returned but much less. Had cardioversion May 22, 2012. A-fib returned May 25 2012.Next time hope to be off diltizem. Also I think I will try magnesium (2 gm/day) . Any suggestions etc appreciated.
Avatar f tn Dose anyone have any thoughts of meds that are better alternatives to Verapamil? Is there another therapeutic drug with fewer side effects? My loved one is on two drugs, Crestor and Verapamil...but the fatigue is almost debillatating. Help....any thoughts. Any successes out there?
564491 tn?1320360393 ve taken it for a number of years -- before that I took Xanax XR). I have found these benzodiazepam lose their effectiveness when taken for years. I also took Effexor XR for many years, but was advised by my headache practitioner to stop taking it, as it was theorized that it might be contributing to my quantity of headaches. I then tried Zoloft for a month, but stopped taking it (with doctor's approval), as it seemed like my headache quantity was returning.
Avatar n tn I am a 64 yo runner (including marathons) who started noticing racing heart rates on occasion, even while sleeping. (I was using a heart rate monitor.) My max heart rate is 163 and resting heart rate is 38. Last week I went for a run and my heart rate went up to 260. Apparently it was already 130 before I started running So I went to the dr. yesterday and was prescribed Atenolol (25mg). Is that suitable for someone who already has such a low resting heart rate?
Avatar f tn org/posts/Depression-Mental-Health/Effexor-XR-withdrawal-symptoms/show/267377 that the lowest dose they had before going to zero of Effexor XR was 18.75mg. The lowest dose available in the market is known to me as the 37.5mg. Frankly, I'd like it for the 18.75 mg to exist - but how true is it? (Also, on other sites I read about people opening up the capsules but many don't recommend that as not all particles are exactly the same.
Avatar m tn Stay with effexor xr do not switch to regular effexor- bad side effects!!! If for any reason you stop taking effexor xr, taper down your dose to avoid w/d feelings. Hope this helps and please post any other questions you may have. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Looking to safely taper off of my calcium channel blocker diltiazem extended release capsules. I have been on them a little over one year. My blood pressure is perfect and was perfect prior to my heart surgery. The only reason I am on them is because I had a large tumor in my heart and once I had my open heart surgery I developed post-op SVT, afib, a-flutter and my heart rate has skyrocketed over 200 beats per minute several times.
Avatar f tn You may be decreasing your Xanax dose too quickly if you've gone from taking your 1 mg dose to only taking the Xanax XR in one week. Discuss a tapering schedule with your physician. Or you can try taking the 1 mg twice a day for 1 week (while still taking the Xanax XR). If well tolerated, decrease to 1 mg once daily the next week, then 1 mg every other day the week after.
1021784 tn?1306363011 m tired of taking the 4x/day 1mg Ativan because with the 2nd dose I either at times have to take late ( 30min - 1hr) or skip the dose. One day I even skipped 2 doses in the same day ( the 2nd and 3rd dose ). I'm planning on asking the pdoc Thursday if he has time to see me about taking Xanax XR instead of the Ativan. But I don't know a good conversion or if the shift will affect my seizure threshold. Any help? Ideas? Thanks, Andy...
Avatar m tn They seem to work well together. Maybe you can take a lower dose of Metoprolol along with the Diltiazem, perhaps at a higher dose. Your post implies you nightmares are gone now that you are off of the BB... the CCB may also have that side effect. What I am suggesting is talk with your doctor about taking a lower dose of BB along with your CCB, they act in different ways, so they do not compete, or conflict.
932485 tn?1245767294 In some cases if your depression is not getting better, your dr will increase the your dose to 150mg. At that dose effexor xr works on both serotonin and neuropinephrine or mood and motivation. Be sure to tell your dr if you are not feeling better because increasing the dose really helps.
999828 tn?1250122926 I took my last dose of methadone yesterday morning. Was at 85 mg and detoxed 3mg A DAY and today took the last dose of a whopping 6mg. I got my script for suboxone today but won't be filling it until Friday. Dr. gave me sample Seroquel XR 150mg to help me sleep the next few days. My question, I have taken REGULAR Seroquel before, 50mg, and it knocked my arse out!!! I see everywhere it says to NOT crush, cut, chew the XR. I don't want to take the entire 150mg. That is too much.
Avatar f tn I took Effexor Xr 37.5 mg for a month and decided to get off the medication. I will never again take this medication. The "brain zaps" are horrible and the feelings are just as bad. I thought since I wasn't on this drug long enough that I wouldn't have side-effects, wrong! I'm also not happy with the way this drug is being marketed and the lack of mentioning of these "zaps".
