Avatar f tn Treatment for coronary artery spasm is with calcium channel blockers (nifedipine, diltiazem, verapamil, etc) and nitrates (nitroglycerine). Hope this helps, and thanks for sharing. If you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond. Take care, and I wish you well going forward.
Avatar n tn Does the nitrate relieve the chest pain? The diagnosis of coronary artery spasm has taken on new significance because of the marketing in this country of a new class of drugs, such as nifedipine, called calcium channel blockers. These drugs have afforded dramatic relief in spasm-induced angina. Patients were treated with calcium channel blockers such as diltiazem, amlodipine, nifedipine, and benidipine.
Avatar f tn s disease may include prescription medicines that dilate blood vessels, such as calcium channel blockers (nifedipine) or diltiazem. In severe cases, a sympathectomy procedure can be performed. I sincerely advise you to consult a physician and discuss this possibility with him. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.

Avatar n tn He may prescribe you diltiazem, nitroglycerine or nifedipine which is used to relax the sphinicter so it can begin healing or if your case is really serious you may need a Lateral Sphincterectomy which is an outpatient procedure involving cutting a sphincter muscle to change the resting pressure of your fissure to help it heal. You could be in the early stages so be pro-active so it won't turn chronic.Luckily I avoided surgery,I used nitroglycerin for 2 months and I finally got it to heal.
Avatar f tn Hey ladies, just wondering if anyone has used nifedipine? Im 33 weeks today and went into labor Monday. Nifedipine stopped labor but I've been off of it for almost 24 hours now. Wondering if anyone had labor stop for long/short periods of time...
415165 tn?1243660347 here's what i found just putting Nifedipine and breastfeeding into google....this is going to be long, and i'm sorry, but i do hope it helps! apparently the nifedipine is for relief of painful breastfeeding? nifedipine----used to treat painful breastfeeding caused by the vasospasm of arterioles ---- Treatment options include methods to prevent or decrease cold exposure, avoidance of vasoconstrictive drugs/nicotine that could precipitate symptoms, and pharmacologic measures.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had to take nifedipine fo a few weeks towards the end of their pregnancy? Its my birthday today and I spent it in l&d because I was contracting and they were really close! I was prescribed nifedipine to smooth out contractions. When I stop taking it, is it possible I will go into labor?
Avatar f tn Hi, Adalat is nifedipine, a calcium channel blocker. Nifedipine is completely absorbed after oral administration. The elimination half-life of nifedipine administered as Adalat CC (nifedipine) is approximately 7 hours. So, its unlikely that the medication can be excreted as such, but check with your doctor to rule out any malabsorption syndromes and also if your hypertension is adequately controlled. Regards.
Avatar n tn s I have had an anal fissure for about 3 years, I have had success with nifedipine 0.2% ointment. I will use the cream and it heals the fissure 90%, I say 90% because even when I am using the nifedipine ointment I still have some pain on certain days (when I have the occasional bout of diarrhea or I have mutiple bowel movements in one day) When I stop using the nifedipine ointment all together the fissure will come back and hurt me. My question is...
Avatar n tn He also put me on Diltiazem ER, with instructions to take three 30mg diltiazem fast acting, 30 minutes apart for an episode (which I just had this evening).........I add a 7.5 mg Tranxene, and that seems to help end it.......I'm nort an anxious person, but it's my opinion that my brain just automatically goes into that state when my heart is beating that fast and erratic.........
Avatar n tn I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.
Avatar m tn I think you have to weigh the significant risks involving ablation and the location of your accessory pathway vs. drug therapy and living with your condition. How often do your events occur? Are you able to convert them yourself by some means; Valsalva, etc.? At 30 years old, time is on your side. Perhaps a new technique in the next decade will make your particular situation less risky. Verapamil is a serious, Class IV anti arrhythmic that is indicated for SVT.
Avatar m tn I am fairly convinced these are esophageal spasms wonder why we haven’t tried Muscle-relaxing drugs including nitrate medications, such as isosorbide (Isordil), nifedipine (Procardia), diltiazem (Cardizem, Tiazac, others) or dicyclomine (Bentyl). I also wonder about Hyoscyamine Sulfate and what about this Heller Myotomy surgery (I’m desperate). In December 2012, I had an EGD done and was told it looks excellent, no ill effects of the acid reflux disease and esophagus looks good.
Avatar f tn Check out the documentary "Under Our Skin" which is about chronic Lyme disease. That's an eye opener! I have four autoimmune diseases and have a negative ANA btw. Hmmm :) I did find a study entitled - Syncope and Raynaud's disease. Syncope is the medical term for fainting. This does make sense that fainting could be a symptom of Raynaud's due to ischaemia (restriction in blood supply to tissues) in the brain.
Avatar m tn BP is relatively normal. I take indapmide for that (From my regular doctor). In fact when my cardilolgist put me on diltiazem, he took me off indapamide. That didn't last long. The diltiazem did nothing for my BP. It went back up (Only talking +/- 140/90), so let me add bavk the indapamide. So, that is not an issue. Just the MVP/ diltazem issue. The pulse can stay n the 60's for awhile. At most during the day, in the 80's. (Of course, that is only when the rythym is normal).
1622431 tn?1299070442 I have recently been diagnosed with pacs, and my doctor put me on diltiazem. Can any one tell me from experience how effective this treatment is?
Avatar f tn My doctor check my cervics to day ago and its 3.5cm, but because I am having so many he put me on Nifedipine xr 30mg but i have not started them. I feel pulled in all directions on what to do. I work in a pharmacy in a hospital and I am so scared of harming my baby. I hope someone can help ease my mind. Maybe I wlll be ok the whole 9 month without taking this med but I feel like I am going to have my little boy early if I dont take this drug. Help please.
Avatar f tn I had preterm labour stopped 3 times at 27-38wks and was on bedrest and nifedipine until 36wks. I then went into labour and my baby via emergency csection the day after stopping nifedipine at 36+1 but I had been having contractions every day since the preterm labour started 9wks beforehand. Wishing you and baby all the best!
8216409 tn?1405754433 Has anyone used nifedipine to stop you from going into premature labor? My dr. Prescribed it. I'm 30 wks 5 days. And in scared in going to go into labor. Un already on bed rest for low lying placenta and a short cervix.
Avatar f tn Hi he didn't give me vistaril. Nifedipine instead!! Lucky me.
Avatar m tn At any rate, my cardiologist prescribed one daily Diltiazem CD 120mg Caps. What seems strange to me is that Diltiazem is for angina and high blood pressure, but is only an OFF LABEL use for arrhythmias. Hence, I have noticed no change in my PVCs (perhaps even a little worse for these first 25 days on Diltiazem, and especially heavy PVCs when I first try to go to sleep at night), nor has my blood pressure been lowered.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
