Avatar f tn I could handle the fatigue and muscle aches but the chest pain and SOB did me in. Recently I was on Diltiazem for awhile. Was tired a bit, had headaches the first couple of weeks but overall it wasn't a bad med. I can't take beta blockers because of asthma. The Diltiazem was helpful in easing some of my tachy times and got rid of my chest pains.
Avatar f tn So Cartia XT is the name brand for time release Diltiazem. This is a pretty potent vasodialator so it is very effective in lowering blood pressure by relaxing the arteries, and slowing the heart rate It has a very short half life, so unless you're taking large amounts, it's hard to acquire a buildup.
Avatar n tn I am on Crestor, Atenolol, Cartia and Digoxin and Synthroid. I had Tachicardia and Atrial Fib. I have symptoms of shortness of breath, a dry cough, extreme fatigue, short term memory loss, extreme joint pain and stiffness, poor balance, weakness at times, vision gets dark at times, neck and throat soreness. I'm going to my doctor because I can't function with these symptoms. Can you tell me which meds can cause this and what other meds I could take. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I take Renexa 1000 mg twice a day, Isosorbide 60 mg twice a day, Cartia 120 mg twice a day, Simvastatin 80 mg once a day, I wear a 4 mg nitro patch daily, sometimes if I need to, I wear two patches. I also take 60 mg of Cymbalta twice a day. I take 1200 mg of fish oil, 400 magnesium twice a day, glucosamine and MSM, and a multivitamin every day. And I have sub lingual nitro if needed. I don't let people see me take my meds because it's a little embarrassing.
Avatar f tn I have taken name brand Cardizem CD for years along with 3 other bp meds. The pharmacys here can't get the name brand Cardizem for some reason now so switched me to Cartia XT. I started this today early morning like I took the name brand. That was at 5;30 a.m. At 11 a.m. I took my bp and HR as I do daily. Its consistently around 110/70 with HR in upper 40s to low 50s. Never gets above 70 as EP wants it this way due to an autonomic dysfunction. It was 145/92 HR 64.
Avatar m tn First I will ask my question then give history about my health. I was wondering if anyone wanted to exchange emails or connect on facebook etc.... for support and answering each others questions from our own personal experiences. okay with that said.....I am a 29 year old male who develpoed A-fib in july of 2011. I was a heavy drinker. the doc said i weakeded my heart and brought on A-fib from drinking. I was doing a follow up at doc office from weekend before.
544531 tn?1221339601 He has now changed me to Cartia XP 240mg...I can now breath fine, but my heart beats seems very, very hard, not fast (85 bpm), just very hard. When I try to lie down, they keep me awake, they are so hard. Is this normal with this medication?? The PVC have dramatically slowed, maybe one or two a day, but I seem to have a headach I can't seem to get rid of.
Avatar f tn Hello. So I have afib. And I was prescribed propranolol and Cartia. Lately I’ve been extremely dizzy. The doctor told me to go off Cartia and to increase propanalol. That was just yesterday. I feel better but still a bit dizzy. How long before the dizziness will stop?
Avatar n tn He also put me on Diltiazem ER, with instructions to take three 30mg diltiazem fast acting, 30 minutes apart for an episode (which I just had this evening).........I add a 7.5 mg Tranxene, and that seems to help end it.......I'm nort an anxious person, but it's my opinion that my brain just automatically goes into that state when my heart is beating that fast and erratic.........
Avatar n tn I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.
Avatar m tn I think you have to weigh the significant risks involving ablation and the location of your accessory pathway vs. drug therapy and living with your condition. How often do your events occur? Are you able to convert them yourself by some means; Valsalva, etc.? At 30 years old, time is on your side. Perhaps a new technique in the next decade will make your particular situation less risky. Verapamil is a serious, Class IV anti arrhythmic that is indicated for SVT.
Avatar m tn BP is relatively normal. I take indapmide for that (From my regular doctor). In fact when my cardilolgist put me on diltiazem, he took me off indapamide. That didn't last long. The diltiazem did nothing for my BP. It went back up (Only talking +/- 140/90), so let me add bavk the indapamide. So, that is not an issue. Just the MVP/ diltazem issue. The pulse can stay n the 60's for awhile. At most during the day, in the 80's. (Of course, that is only when the rythym is normal).
Avatar n tn I'm writing today to ask a doctor this question: When electrical remodeling of the atria can take place so quickly, it would stand to reason that doctors would inform a fib patients that have intermittent atrial fibrillation that they should go straight the ER for cardioversion if it lasts 24 hours. If this information was readily provided by M.D.'s many patients could avoid the risk of falling into permanent A Fib. Why is this line of thinking not used with patients?
1622431 tn?1299070442 I have recently been diagnosed with pacs, and my doctor put me on diltiazem. Can any one tell me from experience how effective this treatment is?
Avatar m tn Anyone have an intolerance to heart medications? Flecainide (50mg) and Cartia. (120mg) Did you upgrade to an ablation, pill-in-the-pocket alternative? Or do you suffer daily with symptoms because the "meds keep you in sinus rhythm?" For 25 months I have had daily symptoms (extreme fatigue, nausea, sleepiness) which match the side effects of Flecainide and Cartia.
Avatar m tn At any rate, my cardiologist prescribed one daily Diltiazem CD 120mg Caps. What seems strange to me is that Diltiazem is for angina and high blood pressure, but is only an OFF LABEL use for arrhythmias. Hence, I have noticed no change in my PVCs (perhaps even a little worse for these first 25 days on Diltiazem, and especially heavy PVCs when I first try to go to sleep at night), nor has my blood pressure been lowered.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
Avatar f tn I have had worsening rhythm problems over the last several years, dating all the way back to viral myocarditis in 1993 when I had a resting pulse of 180 for nearly 6 months. I had three ablations in the last couple years that were unable to fix it. They just kept adding more and more meds until I fell over pulseless. Now I'm on coreg, flecainide, diltiazem, and lisinopril. I never have had high blood pressures and all these sometimes about tip me right over.
Avatar n tn First time, adenosine failed twice to bring down 180+ pulse. Diltiazem given, and worked. Sent home with extended-release 120mg diltiazem. Experienced breakthrough arrhythmias and eventual return to tachycardia 170bpm that lasted 8 hours before heading to the ER again. Given fast-acting diltiazem 60mg, which seems to be working so far, although I'm still experiencing arrhythmias. Cardiologist preliminarily diagnosed AVNRT and recommended ablation asap.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome. I was on diltiazem xt 120mg. I stopped taking the medicine 12 days ago could it still be in my system and be causing slow heart rate 40-45 during th day.
996946 tn?1503249112 s on Vetmedin, 5mg...Enalapril, 10mg...furosemide (lasix) 40 mg, and Diltiazem 40mg. His coughing has not improved. I'm wondering if he really needs the Vetmedin or the Diltiazem? I know his HR seems normal now but because of having heartworms a few yrs ago, he has the residual side effect of CHF. I just hate giving him so many meds and he's not getting better! Any quick suggestions?
Avatar f tn If one never had swollen gums after taking Diltiazem Hydrochloride Extended-release Capsules USP for years and then suddenly has swollen gums (no redness or infection) could the Diltiazem suddenly cause this after getting a "deep cleaning" of the teeth, or 'probing for pocket depths' at a dentist?
