Common Questions and Answers about Diltiazem po to iv conversion

Avatar f tn The BNP was 608 before conversion and immediately went down to 200 after conversion. I realize this is considered heart failure. I am now on Flecainide and Diltiazem and have been AFib free for over 2 months. Have been on Eliquis for a couple of years now. My question is was this "acute" heart failure or once you have it do you always have it? In other words was it just because of the AFib episode or will I have heart failure the rest of my life? This is so scary.
Avatar f tn I had about 10 episodes of 140 BPN over ten years with no more complications than emergency room trips for conversion or conversion at home with propafenone. My particular type was atrial flutter which appears to have been cured by ablation a little over a year ago. If your heart is otherwise healthy it is a condition that can be managed (but certainly no enjoyed!) https://en.wikipedia.

Avatar f tn My question is could the Diltiazem be causing me to lose weight and has this happened to anyone else? My understanding is Diltiazem causes weight gain not weight loss.

Avatar m tn Dear Tom, Thanks again for responding. I have to feel blessed when I consider that you have had to deal with this problem since age 6, and mine didn't start until age 74. I really sympathize with you and the other people on this forum. I am feeling kind of foolish about all the attention and expense I'm demanding or getting involuntarily, so it helps with my feelings of guilt to talk to others with the same problem.
Avatar n tn My doctor told me my problem is left ventricular fascicular tachycardia, which is an uncommon tachycardia. My tachycardia is very sensitive to Diltiazem (calcium channel blocker). The doctor tried Adenosine, but it never works. If they inject Diltiazem, my tachycardia would terminate immediately. My Mon had same problem when she was young. She had a few episodes when I was fetus, but she never had that problem again in the past 20 years.
672586 tn?1280933658 At my request, my family physician has agreed to change my medication from daily metoprolol extended release 100 mg to daily diltiazem 120 mg. Can I simply switch without fear of withdrawal symptoms from the metoprolol? His instructions were to stop taking the metoprolol when I start the new diltiazem. I was not aware that I might face withdrawal from metoprolol.
Avatar m tn Then comes Verapamil, which is a calcium channel blocker like Diltiazem. Perhaps is has something to do with the nature of how a Class IV anti-arrhythmic affects the cardiovascular system. It decreases or slows conduction through theĀ AV node, and reduces the contractility of the heart, so it could be inappropriate in cases of heart failure. I believe that Diltiazem works on the reentrant type of SVT called AVNRT.
Avatar f tn Tramadol (Ultram, Ultracet) I copied this from her journal..it looks pretty close to the other conversion charts I have seen..but again..
Avatar f tn all I can say is request a new PO otherwise you could get a dr note for his PO explaining the situation but sadly if his PO is a d***k there isn't much you can do :(
Avatar n tn I'm going to guess it depends on the individual and what other changes need to be made. Weight may need to come down, increase exercise, reduce sodium in the diet. I'm on Diltiazem 120, a slow release so I only take it once a day. Haven't seen much change in my BP. Maybe 5 pts. in my readings at home. But it does help a little with my arrhythmias, has stopped the chest pains and helps with my Raynauds.
Avatar f tn I was on it for medium high blood pressure for 5 years and finally stopped taking it because it had caused deep depression, not to feelings of suicide though. It seemed to build up, so be on the lookout for feelings of not caring and hopelessness. Now I'm on Verapamil and am doing OK except for the ankle swelling. Tried another CB'er (Cartia XT or Cardizem) and had the same edema effect.
Avatar m tn ang alam ko ikaw gagawa mismo ng malunggay juice.search u po sa google how to make malunggay juice at makikita nyo po kung pano gawin.ok sana gamitin yong juicer kaso mahal, kaya ginagawa ko blender na lang then salain.
Avatar n tn My doctor is recommending cardiac conversion. I do not want to do an invasive procedure if possible. Is there a non invasive option for me?
Avatar f tn I too was in the ER with Afib. Hours of IV push Lopressor, Digoxin, and Diltiazem were unsuccessful in converting the rhythm. I was sedated and electrically cardioverted. I can't say for sure that this was the reason for my lung congestion. I attributed that to the massive amounts of IV fuid that were run in due to critically low BP. Afibbers can go into CHF which will result in fluid buildup in the lungs.
Avatar f tn Ah ganun po...maraming salamat po...but still do i need to consult sa doctor po?

Avatar m tn Although I said not to tolerate Verapamil, a doctor gave me another calcium blocker, Diltiazem, when I had atrial fibrillation. When I came home, I had to decrease the daily dose to half and then stop using it totally. Diltiazem made me weak (possibly low BP or pulse) and the rhythm became very variable. Doctors should be careful when prescribing calcium channel blockers. By the way, my pulse pressure (in sinus rhythm) can vary between 14 and 130. What does this mean? Is this normal?
1622431 tn?1299070442 I've taken Diltiazem and it works quite well. I have PAC's, PVC's and PSVT (a type of atrial tachy). Years ago they gave me Verapamil (similar to Diltiazem) and it did not agree with me at all. I can't take beta blockers because I have asthma. But the Diltiazem helped with the chest pain, slowed down my heart rate and lower my BP a bit, helped with my Raynauds (where my blood vessels spasm and my hands and feet turn a yucky blue/gray color).
Avatar m tn Thanks, sino pong hepatologist ang nag -aattend sayo? sang hosp? pra matry ko rin, hopefully, after this zero-conversion I may be able to pass the medical in the field I am longing.
