Avatar f tn Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
182884 tn?1259312906 I can share my own experience with Diltiazem. Back in February I was put on Diltiazem 120 ER (extended release) and only had to take it once a day. Compared to the Verapamil (also a CCB) that I had to try years ago and I ended up in the ER, the Diltiazem was a dream to take. I had some fatigue, was a bit slow mentally. The hardest part was the nasty headaches I got during the first week or so. They would hit a couple hours after I took the pill then go away.
556087 tn?1226595414 How often are you taking it...be VERY CAREFUL..it is addicting. I'm trying to get off of them now..Do NOT exceed the dosage and then work with your doctor to taper off of them. Do they help with your back pain? I find they do very little for mine. and yes, they do make you "sleepy" but over time that kinda wears off.
672586 tn?1280933658 At my request, my family physician has agreed to change my medication from daily metoprolol extended release 100 mg to daily diltiazem 120 mg. Can I simply switch without fear of withdrawal symptoms from the metoprolol? His instructions were to stop taking the metoprolol when I start the new diltiazem. I was not aware that I might face withdrawal from metoprolol.
Avatar m tn ,still some time i get bad thoughts, I feel ok working mood may be 2 day a week ,other days as sleepy . I asked my doctor ,he just varies the dosage of the tablets. As I working on writing softwares.
976897 tn?1379167602 Calcium channel blockers which he says also help to prevent spasm, IF that is my problem. He has given me diltiazem 60mg x 3 a day. Has anyone else here taken such medication? It says the side effects of these can also be headaches but he assures me that this is very rare. He also said if I get to the point of feeling so dizzy that I may faint, I should get straight to the hospital. Review in 2 weeks to see how they are working. Blood pressure today was 150/96.
760070 tn?1234470413 i take flecainide 100mg/50mg/100mg, this seems to have controlled my afib pretty well, however i still get many individual pvc. last holter was 175 single pvc in 48 hrs. i wonder what anyone gets in the # of pvc's. am i good or bad?i also take diltiazem, potassium and magnesium. am thinking of taking taurione, but don't know enough about it yet. if anyone here takes flec and taurine, please resopnd.
177337 tn?1310059899 I just got back from my internist. She is truly a wonderful compasionate doctor that really wants to help keep me as healthy as possible. Of course all my blood tests came back perfect except that I was low in Vitamin D. I was actualy hoping something was off so that I had a reason for the increase in these damn episodic pvc's that have been lasting for hours at a time. She wants me to try a channel blocker called diltiazem on an "as needed" basis.
Avatar f tn t burn, just makes me kinda hoarse and hurts my throat, etc. Has anyone else had this problem when their dosage has been changed? Also lately my hair is falling out more, I feel shaky and weak at times and real anxious.....I can't have endoscopy done for another month. Went into ER yesterday becuz I don't feel good and have lost almost 30 pds since all this happened.....I weigh 90 and I look and feel horrible.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, a balanced diet will not work if the First Stage of Digestion is not producing sufficient HCL (stomach acid ), to sterilize and emulsify the nutrients consumed. People with Hypochlorhydria or Achlorhydria cannot convert and absorb the nutrients consumed, because of the lack of HCL. There is little or no conversion of Protein into Amino acids without the presence of sufficient quantities of HCL.
Avatar n tn I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.
Avatar f tn Whoooo Hoooo! Talk about falling into a pile of poop and coming up smelling like a rose!!! This cardiologist is a KEEPER! He was the cardiologist on call when I had the last (second) event on the event monitor. I didn't even know he was a local cardiologist I thought he was a TX cardiologist w/eCardio when he called me on the phone. The first time I saw him he was pleasant, etc., his office staff have been GREAT! But today, our second visit I KNEW.
Avatar n tn It seems heart meds are notorious for causing fatigue. They say it gets better in time. I took my Diltiazem for 3 months (it's a CCB) and although I did get over the headaches and dizziness, the brain fog and general "I don't care" feeling was still there. Wish my hunger had gone away :-) See if you can feel some improvement in a week or so.
Avatar m tn BP is relatively normal. I take indapmide for that (From my regular doctor). In fact when my cardilolgist put me on diltiazem, he took me off indapamide. That didn't last long. The diltiazem did nothing for my BP. It went back up (Only talking +/- 140/90), so let me add bavk the indapamide. So, that is not an issue. Just the MVP/ diltazem issue. The pulse can stay n the 60's for awhile. At most during the day, in the 80's. (Of course, that is only when the rythym is normal).
1622431 tn?1299070442 I have recently been diagnosed with pacs, and my doctor put me on diltiazem. Can any one tell me from experience how effective this treatment is?
Avatar f tn Newly diagnosed. .scared was taking metotropol (bad spelling) now prescribed diltiazem..
Avatar f tn Then all of a sudden the frequency jumped to almost all day every day, with very little respite. Usually around 5 per minute. I saw a cardiologist, who precscribed diltiazem. I took 30mg 3x daily for a month and went back to the cardiologist, during that month, the PVC’s started coming every other beat in clusters of about 4 at a time, with multiple clusters a minute at times. I didn’t really notice any difference when taking the diltiazem.
Avatar f tn What exactly is Oxycodone HCL 30 mg? My sister was getting 100 pills a week since Dec 2008 for this amount. Isn't this quite a bit for someone who has a bulging disk in her back? One week prior to her starting the 30 mgs, she was taking 15 mg @ 100 a week. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn I have had GERD since about 2009, I was treating it with Prilosec, over the years I have had my dosage increased, increased again, then told to start taking it twice a day, now they have switched me to Nexium. In 2013 I had trouble swallowing food-bread was the worst. I had an endoscopy and they found chronic gastritis, abnormal mucosa and esophaegeal stricture, which they dilated, 6 months later I had to have it dilated again.
Avatar n tn First time, adenosine failed twice to bring down 180+ pulse. Diltiazem given, and worked. Sent home with extended-release 120mg diltiazem. Experienced breakthrough arrhythmias and eventual return to tachycardia 170bpm that lasted 8 hours before heading to the ER again. Given fast-acting diltiazem 60mg, which seems to be working so far, although I'm still experiencing arrhythmias. Cardiologist preliminarily diagnosed AVNRT and recommended ablation asap.
Avatar m tn I have this too, I regained my weight(I only slowed my eating, never vomited) by taking enough HCL after meals to make the LES close, since the reflux was what was bothering me the most. Maybe you are still not digesting your food because your dosages are too low. You would know because your feces would have strange unusual smells, and be of strange colors too!
