Avatar f tn Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
672586 tn?1280933658 At my request, my family physician has agreed to change my medication from daily metoprolol extended release 100 mg to daily diltiazem 120 mg. Can I simply switch without fear of withdrawal symptoms from the metoprolol? His instructions were to stop taking the metoprolol when I start the new diltiazem. I was not aware that I might face withdrawal from metoprolol.
976897 tn?1379167602 Calcium channel blockers which he says also help to prevent spasm, IF that is my problem. He has given me diltiazem 60mg x 3 a day. Has anyone else here taken such medication? It says the side effects of these can also be headaches but he assures me that this is very rare. He also said if I get to the point of feeling so dizzy that I may faint, I should get straight to the hospital. Review in 2 weeks to see how they are working. Blood pressure today was 150/96.
760070 tn?1234470413 i take flecainide 100mg/50mg/100mg, this seems to have controlled my afib pretty well, however i still get many individual pvc. last holter was 175 single pvc in 48 hrs. i wonder what anyone gets in the # of pvc's. am i good or bad?i also take diltiazem, potassium and magnesium. am thinking of taking taurione, but don't know enough about it yet. if anyone here takes flec and taurine, please resopnd.
Avatar m tn A fib kicked in and would not abate for any significant period of time. increased drug dosage (Flecanide - 150mg - 2x; Diltiazem - 120mg - 2x) with no result. Continued testing revised diagnosis to atrial flutter. Underwent catheter ablation 8 days ago. Left hospital with normal sinus rhythm. Same evening flutter returned with heart rate varying from 120 - 130. Continued following day. Advised to wait 24 more hours.
177337 tn?1310059899 I just got back from my internist. She is truly a wonderful compasionate doctor that really wants to help keep me as healthy as possible. Of course all my blood tests came back perfect except that I was low in Vitamin D. I was actualy hoping something was off so that I had a reason for the increase in these damn episodic pvc's that have been lasting for hours at a time. She wants me to try a channel blocker called diltiazem on an "as needed" basis.
Avatar n tn The episodes are long and I have to go ER to terminate it by IV medicine each time. My heart rate is also very fast, around 200 b per min, even more. The situation is getting worse this year. I had four episodes already this year even I took medicine Diltiazem (180 mg) everyday. The good thing is I can terminate it by taking extra Diltiazem (250 mg) and lay down for 30 mins. My doctor told me my problem is left ventricular fascicular tachycardia, which is an uncommon tachycardia.
Avatar m tn Then comes Verapamil, which is a calcium channel blocker like Diltiazem. Perhaps is has something to do with the nature of how a Class IV anti-arrhythmic affects the cardiovascular system. It decreases or slows conduction through the AV node, and reduces the contractility of the heart, so it could be inappropriate in cases of heart failure. I believe that Diltiazem works on the reentrant type of SVT called AVNRT.
Avatar n tn I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.
Avatar f tn Whoooo Hoooo! Talk about falling into a pile of poop and coming up smelling like a rose!!! This cardiologist is a KEEPER! He was the cardiologist on call when I had the last (second) event on the event monitor. I didn't even know he was a local cardiologist I thought he was a TX cardiologist w/eCardio when he called me on the phone. The first time I saw him he was pleasant, etc., his office staff have been GREAT! But today, our second visit I KNEW.
Avatar n tn It seems heart meds are notorious for causing fatigue. They say it gets better in time. I took my Diltiazem for 3 months (it's a CCB) and although I did get over the headaches and dizziness, the brain fog and general "I don't care" feeling was still there. Wish my hunger had gone away :-) See if you can feel some improvement in a week or so.
Avatar m tn BP is relatively normal. I take indapmide for that (From my regular doctor). In fact when my cardilolgist put me on diltiazem, he took me off indapamide. That didn't last long. The diltiazem did nothing for my BP. It went back up (Only talking +/- 140/90), so let me add bavk the indapamide. So, that is not an issue. Just the MVP/ diltazem issue. The pulse can stay n the 60's for awhile. At most during the day, in the 80's. (Of course, that is only when the rythym is normal).
1622431 tn?1299070442 I have recently been diagnosed with pacs, and my doctor put me on diltiazem. Can any one tell me from experience how effective this treatment is?
Avatar f tn Newly diagnosed. .scared was taking metotropol (bad spelling) now prescribed diltiazem..
Avatar f tn Then all of a sudden the frequency jumped to almost all day every day, with very little respite. Usually around 5 per minute. I saw a cardiologist, who precscribed diltiazem. I took 30mg 3x daily for a month and went back to the cardiologist, during that month, the PVC’s started coming every other beat in clusters of about 4 at a time, with multiple clusters a minute at times. I didn’t really notice any difference when taking the diltiazem.
1655526 tn?1330655629 I have always been able to convert mine back unil this year, now I go to the ER and they give me an IV to stop my heart and convert it back . I am getting tired of living my life in fear as to wen I will have another spell. I have spoken with one EP Doctor and I am goin for a 2nd opinion june 20th. I will most likely due the abaltion. A lady at my church had the same thing as me and she had the ablation and is doing great. I hope all goes well for you!
Avatar n tn First time, adenosine failed twice to bring down 180+ pulse. Diltiazem given, and worked. Sent home with extended-release 120mg diltiazem. Experienced breakthrough arrhythmias and eventual return to tachycardia 170bpm that lasted 8 hours before heading to the ER again. Given fast-acting diltiazem 60mg, which seems to be working so far, although I'm still experiencing arrhythmias. Cardiologist preliminarily diagnosed AVNRT and recommended ablation asap.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome. I was on diltiazem xt 120mg. I stopped taking the medicine 12 days ago could it still be in my system and be causing slow heart rate 40-45 during th day.
Avatar m tn This is very interesting, because after my cardioversion 3 weeks ago, I went back on my Norpace CR and was told to stay on the 50 mg. of Atenolol I was on previously. For the last week I have been having (some major) dizzy spells and a feeling of a pause. Also felt like I might faint, short of breath. This has happened sitting, standing and lying down and scared me. I have an appt. Thursday for a follow-up on the cardioversion, so maybe I can find out what's going on.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 33 year old male, not overweight, not diabetic, I've been dealing with tachycardia for some time now. It comes and goes. I found that 50mg of Metoprolol twice a day would mostly control it, but as a 33 year old man, I began to notice major erection issues since being on it. Talked to my doctor, they want me to start 120mg a day of Diltiazem. I'm a little nervous about it, but they assured me it's no more potent a medication.
996946 tn?1503249112 s on Vetmedin, 5mg...Enalapril, 10mg...furosemide (lasix) 40 mg, and Diltiazem 40mg. His coughing has not improved. I'm wondering if he really needs the Vetmedin or the Diltiazem? I know his HR seems normal now but because of having heartworms a few yrs ago, he has the residual side effect of CHF. I just hate giving him so many meds and he's not getting better! Any quick suggestions?
