I'm a 48 yr old black female who began having seizures 7-8 yrs ago. they have increased to about 1 time a week. I'm taking 750 mg of Keppra and Dilantin 100mg 2 x a day.

The reason he stopped taking his meds is because the doctor put him on phenobarbital and he has a hard time getting up in the morning and getting around. A long time ago when we first met he was on Dilantin and I think I am going to ask the Dr. to put him back on it because that seemed to work the best for him and he just cant get used to the phenobarbital and he still gets the shakes.

i have been on dilantin for over 25 years . i to have very bad mood swings and i just cant take any stress at all . my neuro is taking me off dilantin slowly. i take 400mg daily . my neuro told me dilantin will cause mood swings and cause me to be irritable and was hard on your body after being on them so long. i have started keppra and dropping 1 dilantin a month . i was told my moods will improve and i will start to think more clearly.

What is the normal range for Troponins? How high or low can it be? I know this is involves with testes for heart. Recently, my mom in emergency room for chest pain. They run many testes for her. The testes are stress test, ECG, and Echo. I am just curious about Troponins and would like to know more about it. Thank you!

I had blood workup 2 weeks ago with my GP and everything was fine except cholesterolwas a little high and she put me on zocor. I have a seizure disorder and take 125 mg Dilantin and my doctor took my synthroid up to 175 mg. For the past few weeks I have been jittery,explosive temper,lightheaded, very foggy and started having horrible palpitations and breathlessness..I am really scared at this point and can't seem to get any answers..I am going to schedule an appointment with a endo.

My husband was recently diagosed with glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer. The neurosurgeon put him on Dilantin "for life." He isn't even going to check blood levels. My husband has not had any seizures. Does this seem appropriate?

From my experience no but people do grow out of it if they are lucky enough our healed from it. I was on Dilantin, Phenobarbital and Lamictal three years ago. My Dr took me off of Dilantin and no more problems. I was on Dilantin over twenty years and i was scared. My surgeon has my switching from Gabapentin to Dilantin, by early this week I should be solely on 400 to 500 MG of dilantin per day however it is doubtful if the meds will fully control the pain so then my only real option is an injection which may cause permanent facial numbness. Anyone have elevated ammonia levels? Are you having any symptoms and at what level did your symptoms start? I just had my first ammonia screening done and the level came back 119, with less than 47 being the reference range. I'm not having any symptoms. This seems to be the story of my life.
