They sent me for a bone density exam and I show signs of osteopenia in my hips. Mind you I walk for my job everyday and spend about 2/3 of my waking hours on my feet so it's not like I'm NOT doing weight bearing exercising.
I was taking 425mg per day right after my surgery (today is my 6th anniversary for having a second chance at life from brain cancer). They gradually got my blood levels at a constant therapeutic level with 350mg. For the last two weeks have been taking 325mg.
Twice I have had dexa scans that have told me I have very high bone density. Where normal is -1/0 mine is 4.4. I have the specific results but I cannot find any information on this. I hope it means good things. The man who has done thousands of these tests says hes never seen anything close to this.
t witness but the symptoms were that of a seizure according to the Doctor who saw him in the hospital (he had a fall at the time and had superficial facial wounds) The doctor put him on dilantin and they did an EEG. Then he was taken off the dilantin because the EEG didn't show anythin g. A month later in the night he had two grand mal seizures and at that time a full workup was done at the hospital.

My Bone Density was real low, I was Dx'd with Osteoperosis. Im only 21 and a male.

So, I have medical induced menopause. I just had a bone density scan test done but can someone help me make some sense of it? I had one done two years ago and a repeat one done last week.
It states that it is a comparison to my scan two years ago.
Findings: -0.9 lumbar spine (L1-L4): Density (g/cm2) of 1.084; T-score of -0.9; Z-score of -0.5; %change of -3.1
Femoral neck (mean):Density (g/cm2) of 0.783; T-score of -1.8; Z-score of -1.8; Z-score of -1.2; %change of -4.
I had 3 Bone density scans done in last 6 years, and the last one which was on Friday came back showing:
Left proximal femur, the lowest score is obtained in the femoral neck. The BMD of this region is 1.134 gm/cm2 with a T-score of 1.3.Between examiniations, there has been a significant increase in the total hip BMD (.0.019 gm/cm2)
Then it says: Based on the lowest T-score, the diagnostic category if : Normal (T-score >-2.5).
Hi yesterday i got my bone density test results back from a scan i had and although the nurse was unable to tell me much she said i have low bone density showing in hips and spine...
I actually do not have pain in those areas but do have pain in my forearms,wrists,lower legs and ankles so would this all be related?
In the morning i wake feeling extremely hung over, unrefreshed and my body feels stiff and on negotiating the stairs my ankles feel like they will snap!

Does anyone get the Prolia shot for bone density loss due to chemo? If so what is your experience? I was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago, had partial mastectomy last May, on oral chemo with calcium and Vit D supplements. I already had osteoarthritis and am at the age for bone density loss. Oncologist recommended Prolia shot to combat bone density loss but insurance has denied due to not medically necessary.

This study can be looked at in the light of the previous thread regarding Growth Hormone deficiency, which also causes or correlates with bone density loss. How many on the forum have had any concerns on bone loss in recent years? Maybe a doctor looking at an X-Ray made a comment, or a dental X-Ray showed bone loss, or deterioration, etc. Here is the study link:

Surgical menopause apparently makes you lose more bone than regular menopause. I had perfect bone density when I did my first DEXA test one month after my surgery in early 2002. By that I mean that my T-scores were slightly positive. I did not have chemo, but my bone density has decreased significantly since then. I just saw my endocrinologist, and she agreed that I am not at the point yet where I need drugs.
