Avatar f tn s first poo) asperation. He was on a feeding tube for about 2 weeks because it was too much work for him to eat and breath at the same time. It's a little bit different with your grandson, but I would imagine the tube would be to make sure he gets enough to grow stronger to where he can tolerate a feeding without getting too tired that he can't finish. I hope this helps a little and that your grandson gains and grows well so he can go home. Please keep me updated on how things go!
469150 tn?1340228600 I have only ate one meal a day for 3 years now and in the past two weeks I have lived only on liquid but my weight is dropping fast. I feel better only on liquid and have been offered a feeding tube to help keep my weight and energy up but I want to know all I can about it before I go ahead with it. Also is it possible to get a feeding tube that stays in even if it is through my nose.
Avatar f tn My Dad has been on a feeding tube for almost a year. He had esophagus cancer and they removed it and he is now cancer free. My question is why he is so tired all the time ? and what kind of quality of life he can have? He does not have much interest in the things he used to enjoy. It makes me very sad to hear him like this. He lives in another state, so I do not get to see him.
Avatar f tn I just logged on. No experience there, but malnutrition is such a problem. I hope Hector logs on soon. There are many good people on this site.
541150 tn?1306033843 Hi there, My cat developed a fatty liver disease after we moved into our new home. He was very stressed and stopped eating. Also, he is an IBD cat. He was diagnosed with Chronic Colitis at 6 months of age...but nothing ever worked. He was on Hill's (you name the letters he's been on those) plus steroids and antibiotics. I got tired of my cat not getting better and switched him to raw diet. His IBD went away. Then these past few weeks he has been hospitalized due to stress from the move.
Avatar f tn My grandson has the G tube and Nissan and I think this has been the worst thing that a doctor has ever done to him. They convinced my son that he needed to have this surgery for his son to be able to feed. He also was 3 months early and had severe reflux. It did stop the reflux but his life and health iare so messed up because of this tube and Nissan that I wish they would have waited and sought another option.
Avatar f tn I do not have a feeding tube, but many POTSies who have feeding tubes have a GI disorder called gastroparesis. This is when the intestines and stomach move food too slowly and in severe cases the stomach can actually be paralyzed. The other reason I have heard for POTSies to get feeding tubes is because of extremely severe nausea and/or vomiting to the point where malnutrition sets in and severe weight loss occurs. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn i just started taking dilantin and im 4 weeks late for my peiod and not pregnant
Avatar f tn My son was born at 34weeks and 5days and he was eating slow. They used a feeding tube on him for 2 days and than he was off of it.

Avatar m tn s getting fluids but when she gets home levels increase. Vet is recommending a feeding tube because she is not eating or drinking. I understand the disease effects their appetities. Avatar n tn I have a TSH of 0.24 and T4 of 1.04. I have been on Dilantin for 30 years. I have been on Thyroid replacement therapy for 18 years with monthly injection of B12. I have had extreme fatigue and chest pains. Seeing neurologist for medicine change and have be referred to endocrinologist. How concerned should I be? What tests should be given? Is this my pituitary gland?
Avatar m tn During the first week I fed her water, food, and meds through her feeding tube and the vet decided to pull after a week due to the fact the feeding tube was causing her discomfort and that she started drinking water on her own. Although since the feeding tube was pulled she has not been able to eat on her own and I have been feeding her about every two hours with about 5-6 ml per session resulting in 20 ml a day as mentioned above.
Avatar n tn By bolus feeding him before meals he will feel full and not want regular food. Recommend feeding at night with a tube feed pump, higher calorie tube feed (2.0 calorie), and see a Registered Dietitian (RD) to help guide you. To find an RD in your area, go to the American Dietetic Association website, www.eatright.org.
2015036 tn?1332997788 My doctor wanted me to start with the Dilantin first, but then I read that bone-thinning and excess facial hair can be the some of the side effects. (So, I'm going with Tegretol.) I had no idea about the risk of leukemia! Are you okay?
Avatar n tn re that little) a feeding tube, and formula. When you tube feed, you take the feeding tube and hold it along the outside of the puppy so that the tip of the tube touches the puppy's side right in the flank area. You then mark the tube where it touches the puppy's muzzle. Normally you will have about a 5 or 6" length of tube marked off for newborn puppies, but giant breeds, of course, will be larger.
Avatar m tn Finally after he started vomiting, I demanded a neurologist see him, who immediately diagnosed the stroke and moved him to ICU where he stayed for 2 weeks, on the vent and feeding tube. After 2 weeks he was moved to the rehab floor with a trach and feeding tube. He receive inpatient OT, PT and Speech therapy for 3 months. He is now taking outpatient PT and Speech therapy. He still has numbness and really bad tingling of the right side. The left side is week as well.
3921209 tn?1348605095 I would recommend consulting your Neurologist. Together, you and your Neurologist can weigh the pros and cons of taking Dilantin or possibly another medication.
Avatar f tn And I am glad she arrived well and safe. Feeding issues can be so overwhelming and distressing. When Hunter was born, he was so sleepy that he didn't want to eat. It took him a bit to get it, we had to feed him with a nursing tube attached to my breast, but he was a smarty from birth, figured out how to spit out my breast and just drink from the nursing tube! Crazy.
Avatar f tn This landed us at the hospital for dehydration , for tests like endoscopy, swallow studies aso and now he is on a feeding tube. We went from a normal eating kid (picky, but I d KILL for picky at this point) to a kid who needs round the clock feedings and is hooked up to a pump all night, just to keep up with his calorie needs at 5 foot 10, 200 pounds. We started him back on anxiety meds, and are working with our speech therapist to start feeding therapy.
Avatar n tn Parents took him to the doctor and he was admitted to hosp and feeding tube put in. The diagnosis they are coming up with is Adversion to Food. Just how does a baby develope that and what can be done?
Avatar f tn My doctors finally agreed that I need a feeding tube, but the problem is I've been kind of obsessed with them for 4 years now prior to my current issues. I have a lot of GI issues and a lot of sensory issues with food. I prefer blended and pureed food and liquids. However with MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome), most of the foods I like to have are high histamines.
