dilantin

Avatar m tn It turned out I really did those things. I got up and walked around knocked over a few things and was in like a sort of a trance until i flopped onto my bed. when i woke up i was on my bed rolled over a fell on the floor and didnt have the strengh to get up. Is that a seizure or is that something else? I am going to see my doctor but he only comes to my clinic once a month and my next appointment is not til december. so any help would be helpful. Thanks.

Avatar f tn Following a heart attack back in October 2007, I am not at much of a loss of memory. however at times I could feel how sharper my memory was before the onset of the ailment. I would forget for a moment even names of closely known people. The event is however brief and i would soon gain my memory back.I would attribute possible reasons for this to the score o medicines taken.
Avatar f tn I HAVE SUFFERED FROM SEVERE DEPRESSION SINCE THE AGE OF EIGHT, OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER AT AGE 11, PANIC ATTACKS, HYPOTHYROIDISM, CELIAC DISEASE, MEMORY LOSS AND THE LIST GOES ON, AS WELL AS CHRONIC INSOMNIA. MY PSYCHIATRIST HAS TRIED EVERY MED YOU CAN POSSIBLY THINK OF FOR THIS INSOMNIA, NOTHING WORKS. MY DEPRESSION IS NOW GONE, BUT RIGHT NOW I AM IN A MESS BECAUSE I HAVE SLOWLY BEEN TAPERING MYSELF OF THE CLONZEPAN AT THE RATE OF 1/2 TAB PER MONTH.
Avatar m tn I'm only 29 yrs. old and have been taking Dilantin since I was 15yr. old. My seizures have been under control the only time I actually had full blown seizures is when I was a teenager and I missed doses I had one and When my doctor decided to take me off my dilantin gradually since I hadn't had a seizure for 6 yrs. but, when I got completely off the medicine I had a full blown seizure from it.
Avatar n tn These may include temporary or permanent weakness, numbness, difficulty speaking, persistent symptoms such as memory loss, dizziness, headache, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating. These may be present for months after treatment also. So don’t worry about the numbness or headaches. You are taking Dilantin which is an anti-seizure drug. These drugs are prescribed mainly to treat epilepsy.
327385 tn?1378360731 I'm lucky in that on certain days I feel a little "woozy" and know things are not going to go well that day. So I try not to drive or work or do much of anything on those days. I have the mini attacks preceding a grand mal - rolling of eyes and my hands suddenly jerking back from the elbows. I'll also drop things like I've touched something hot, and my mind is usually going at lightspeed.
Avatar m tn “These reports generally have not been serious and the patients’ symptoms were reversed by stopping the statin. However, patients should still alert their health care professional if these symptoms occur.” New labels also include a warning that increased blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) and an increased risk of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes have been reported with statin use.
Avatar f tn The center is focusing on feedings and pain control. She is on morphine, fentanyl path and klonipan as well as Dilantin. She still twitches. I am thinking about calling Hospice. does she have a chance of recovering??? I don't want to be the voice of gloom in the family but I want to know when to take off work and spend more time with her. She is still coherent - just has short term memory disorder.
Avatar f tn my neuro is taking me off dilantin slowly. i take 400mg daily . my neuro told me dilantin will cause mood swings and cause me to be irritable and was hard on your body after being on them so long. i have started keppra and dropping 1 dilantin a month . i was told my moods will improve and i will start to think more clearly. my neuro told me dilantin does slow your thinking and leaves you in a fog.
Avatar m tn There have been some reports of memory loss and disturbance of other cognitive functions including alertness following Carbamazepine (Tegretol) use. The effect of the seizure focus in the frontal lobe can't be denied. The two combined together may be responsible for the memory loss.
Avatar n tn He is under the drug Dilantin. How does the Archnoid Cyst effects his life. Is there any dangerous, any loss in memory, or growth or something like so. Please provide the answer?
20866773 tn?1551913127 Immediately thereafter, I looked at my wife and daughter and we all began laughing so hard because of how fast everything occurred and what I looked like in my attempt to stand back up. Thinking the episode was nothing more than some kind of weird fluke (my knees never buckled before this in any shape, form or fashion) and after the three of us stopped laughing, we began to resume our walk; problem was though, it happened again.
276875 tn?1400451578 I have been doing some research into the medication i currently take (dilantin) and it would seem as if i suffer from one of its side-effects. I was wondering if there was an alternative to counteracting this side-effect or is it something i will have to deal with as i take this medication..
Avatar f tn I have been on meds for bi-polar and have developed tremors and memory loss (phone #, SS# etc plus other). I have gotten off the meds, been a few days, and am scared that this will be a permanent change. Friends who hadn't seen me in months, came over recently and were shocked and concerned about me, telling me that I seemed like a zombie. My husband's friends are pulling him aside and asking what's wrong. This is NOT the normal me.
Avatar m tn I'm sorry you're dealing with terrible pain in your knee. It can be really difficult to be taken seriously about pain at a young age. I was 26 when I first started having constant pain in my neck and shoulder and had had occasional pain earlier that was never taken seriously. The only thing I could recommend might be to see a Pain Management doctor. They work on treating the pain in different ways, not just surgically and not just with pain meds (usually).
508033 tn?1211889477 I have been going through seizures since I was 12yrs. and now I'm 54. At first they were bad seizures and my neur. but me on dilantin and other meds. and then as I was growing up they would be daily and then they experment with my med levels and they got my seizures down to a couple a week. When I was about 34 I moved and had to go to another neur. and he took all kinds of test and a MRI.
Avatar f tn But get this--my knees DO NOT buckle when I run. In regards to the Dilantin; well, once again, relying just on my memory I believe I was on it for three, or four months. Since then (the end of 2000) to present, my knees continue to buckle (whenever they feel like it...lol) I'm standing and walking; but again, THIS DOES NOT happen when I run. Further, I've never been put back on Dilantin (or any other medicine for that matter) for this condition.

Avatar f tn if the levels are high, in the toxic range, and then your dose is cut down and your episodes stop, then it could be the dilantin. But non-toxic (normal) dilantin levels to my knowledge do not cause sleep attacks. If you are suffering from sleep attacks, one possibility is a sleep disorder. Sleep apnea, which is due to increased resistance in your airway during sleep, can lead to poor ventilation.
Avatar f tn Two months ago my sister, 29, had a seizure, full body shaking and unconciousness, bit her tongue and some memory loss. At the hospital her MRI, EEG, EKG CT scan and blood and urine test all came back clear. The Neurologist said, "well, sometimes this happens." Then a week and a half ago she had one in her sleep, and then another just a few days ago. This time the doctor has put her on Kepra. Again her tests came back clear. What does this mean? Does she have epilepsy?
501086 tn?1210123831 Was just interested if anyone has had to transition from Dilantin to Lamictal and if they have had any side affects
Avatar f tn i just started taking dilantin and im 4 weeks late for my peiod and not pregnant
327385 tn?1378360731 Since you are suffering from neurological symptoms like dizziness, black outs, memory loss and confusion it is pertinent that undergo a complete neurological exam and tests like CT scan or MRI of head. There is a possibility that these symptoms are due to TIA or transient ischemic attacks, however nothing can be said for sure without examination. Please schedule an appointment with your neurologist as soon as possible.
