dilantin and hair growth

i started taking dilantin and im late for my period almost 4 weeks.

My doctor wanted me to start with the Dilantin first, but then I read that bone-thinning and excess facial hair can be the some of the side effects. (So, I'm going with Tegretol.) I had no idea about the risk of leukemia! Are you okay?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this community. My neurologist just informed me that Osteoporosis and shrinkage of the Cerebellum are very serious side effects for long term users of Dilantin. Does anyone know more about this? I've been taking 500mg of Dilantin for over 30 years since I was a teenager, and now I'm terribly worried. Not one of the neurologists had mentioned anything about this over the years, and now at 46, I've learned that I may have severe osteoporosis.

I have a TSH of 0.24 and T4 of 1.04. I have been on Dilantin for 30 years. I have been on Thyroid replacement therapy for 18 years with monthly injection of B12. I have had extreme fatigue and chest pains. Seeing neurologist for medicine change and have be referred to endocrinologist. How concerned should I be? What tests should be given? Is this my pituitary gland?

that came off fast,your gums swell,some people get hair growth on face and chin.i just got a couple strays.but i never had a seizure while on dilantin,i did on the off brand.my neuo told me it can give you a lot of pimples ,but my face stayed clear.neuo wants to take me off of dilantin ,he said it can lead to weak bones.i have never had a broken bone in my life.if other meds work for her ,i wouldent change meds.im not going to let him change my meds.if i go even 2 days without i have seizures.

Recently he was diagnosed wiht an Archnoid Cyst in the right frontal lobe of brain, and he experienced with seizures for the first time. He is under the drug Dilantin. How does the Archnoid Cyst effects his life. Is there any dangerous, any loss in memory, or growth or something like so. Please provide the answer?

I would recommend consulting your Neurologist. Together, you and your Neurologist can weigh the pros and cons of taking Dilantin or possibly another medication.

s because of your prenatal vitamins. They help hair and nail growth. And the idea about it being a boy because you have a lot of extra hair, could be true. Before I got pregnant I just had peach fuzz on my tummy and now it looks darker and longer, and I'm having a boy. But yet again, I shave my arm pits and legs a lot more than usual. Also your pubic hair will probably begin to grow so much you can't keep up with it.

I take my vitamins everyday and my hair doesn't grow its dry and awhful actually. And I don't even colour my hair. It's been over a year since I've coloured it. I too am bummed about this because I was looking forward to my hair finally growing. I chopped it all off a while ago.

I lost a probably about 45% but luckily it thinned all over. the only part I had to hide was a receding hair line in the front (Like my dad has) So I didn't put my hair up and just combed long hair over for a while. I have been done with treatment for a couple months now..and my hair, (while still thinned out) is a completely different texture then it was on treatment. I noticed within a few weeks after tx the shine was back and it did not look so dead anymore.

Yes! I just chopped off my long hair, and it's already starting to grow a lot. Plus, I find myself needing to shave my legs/underarms more... Often I'm too lazy to do it, though.

I was very anxious for my hair to grow as well but even with eating healthier and taking my prenatal pills daily my hair has not grown at all. I feel my hair actually got so dry :/ but everyone can be different.

It most likely is a beard hair but is growing on your wrest.

Okay, so this is really embarassing but, I am sooo curious. Since Sept 2010, I've miscarried 4 times. Been getting some tests done and so far everything is normal But, for the last while (more so now which is why I'm asking) I've noticed hair growing on my stomach and a few on my breasts? Is this normal? If not, what usually causes that? Ty in advance.
