Avatar f tn After spending 8 days in the hospital getting my heart back into sinus rhythm (3 cardioversions + Tikosyn) I am back to Afib (off the Tikosyn) and have a 'normal' heart rate of 100 now. I presently take Lisinopril, Digoxin, Warfarin, and Carvedilol. Is 'my present condition' truly something that should not cause concern to me. Isn't being in constant AFib causing my chances of a stroke to rise considerably???

Avatar m tn How do you tell if Afib converted on its own or if the medication did the conversion or if the medication was causing the Afib? I have been to the Primary doctor and Emergency room both said I was not in afib currently. Another words, when do you know when to stop taking the medications? In Nov 2013, I have Aortic heart valve replacement and a maze procedure. My old cardiologist wanted to do a cardioversion but I didn't want it, so I had to change Cardiologist.
Avatar m tn best thing is that you retest with architect for both hbsag and hbsab, then if you find hbsab less than 10miu/ml just have vaccine again
Avatar m tn My doctor was very surprised because he had never seen atrial fibrillation in a young adult. My doctor prescribed digoxin and my heart rhythm returned to normal. About six months ago I moved to a different state. I recently went to a new doctor to have my digoxin levels checked and he noticed that my afib had returned. He was concerned because digoxin would not have been his choice of treatment and he said I should have also been taking aspirin or a blood thinner.
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar n tn s explanation where he states digoxin is used to treat irregular heartbeats. I was on digoxin for a few months following my congested heart failue event. It is my understanding the medication is used to increase contractility of the pumping chambers. My medication for stablizing heart rate is a beta blocker (coreg) and an ACE inhibitor. My research: "Digoxin is contraindicated in patients with ventricular fibrillation.
Avatar f tn Hello, there is not an easy conversion between unit syringes and cc syringes and you have a very high risk of overdosing (= dangerous). If you are in US you might be able to buy some unit syringes over the counter at wall mart chemist or another chemist. It is very important that you control your blood sugar well. Although it is not widely discussed, it is possible to reuse insulin syringes providing:- 1.
Avatar f tn Also my T3 FREE is measured in PG/ML (2.45) and T4 measured in NG/DL (0.31) which also is a different unit of measure than the tracking chart... What is the conversion between AU and IU?
Avatar f tn However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes. There are so many newer drugs now that are far more effective. My basic understanding of Digoxin is that it works on the heart's electrical system and decreases the heart rate, but increases each stroke volume.
Avatar f tn If you are talking about the weight tracker on MedHelp, then you can add your weight in pounds only. For conversion you will need a conversion scale. You can change the unit on an application only if there are multiple provisions to add in your weight in different systems. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn Been on Viread since end of March 2012. My quantitative PCR in Nov. 11 was 17587; Feb 2012 was 7895, May 2012 was 63. So there is a reduction in HBV DNA, which is great....but Is there a "conversion" from PCR to IU/ml? Can I tell from these results if it good to start Pegasys as an add-on yet, or can you only base this on levels of hbsag? Also how are the treatment programs of stef2011and grmr coming along?
Avatar f tn Great news, and if you are on medications to help hold you in NSR, keep the schedule as best you can. This will help keep you from slipping back into AFib.
Avatar f tn i hev a question concerning digoxin....wat is its effect in the body. I mean its pharmacokinetic effects. i am having a hard time searching the net for it...
162069 tn?1224677411 It seems that the addition of digoxin to her regimen is what has done the trick, as it has significantly lowered her amount of SVT pac's are still very frequent, but as long as her ef is improved I am a very happy camper....
Avatar n tn I am wondering if you are uneasy about taking digoxin. If so, I would ask you cardio if you can get by with just the TOPROL XL. Digoxin, xanax, toprol xl, and lisinoprol seems like a lot of stuff to be taking. I am a runner and only take TOPROL XL 12.5mg. This knocks out my extra beats and really slows my heart down. A little seems to go a long way for me.
393685 tn?1425812522 With Selenium, 200mcg is 200IU. International units are determined by a bunch of people getting together and saying "this is a unit of selenium, and this is a unit of iron, and this is a unit of copper". It might be a milligram or it might be a quart. In the case of selenium, one microgram is one International Unit. Taking it can't hurt, unless you get carried away.
Avatar f tn I am taking Digoxin for tachycardia--my cardiologist says that while there aren't good studies available for cardiac meds while pregnant Digoxin is believed to be safe. It is not a betablocker, however the dr felt the digoxin would be safer than a betablocker while preggo. Also the changes in your blood volume while pregnant may correct the tachycardia.
4356842 tn?1353312209 Been taking digoxin since being diagnosed. I am pretty sure I have had svt all my life, I do recall having attacks when I was younger, but three years ago is when it go bad and more frequent. My cardio told me at first that he things surgery is a last resort for me. I am tired of dealing with the episodes. I feel lucky that their not that bad and that they are tolerable. I am just worried about having the ablation and coming out worse than what I am now.
Avatar f tn I'm 76 and have had 2 cardio versions. My cardio just took me off digoxin and started me on propafenone which is really making me sick. Do you ever adjust to it? I'm taking 225 mg twice a day.
