Avatar n tn Digoxin should generally be avoided in patients with preserved left ventricular systolic function, although it has been used for ventricular rate control in the subgroup of patients with chronic atrial fibrillation. Cardiovascular side effects have been reported the most frequently.
Avatar f tn I agree with everything pointed out above. It is way too early to in the healing process for anything to be "normal". You're going to need to give it a lot of time, perhaps up to a year for things to settle down. I get skips and little runs of SVT, and mine was down over 4 years ago. Keep in mind that the conductive circuit remains within your heart. Nothing was removed or taken out. Only a tiny scar tissue barrier was burned across it to prevent conduction.

Avatar f tn They should tell you what the clinical studies showed, side effects and all of the pertinent information....good luck to you....
Avatar n tn Many diuretics can cause potassium loss. Low levels of potassium in the body increase the risk of digitalis toxicity. Digitalis toxicity may also result in persons who take the drug and who have low levels of magnesium in the body. Risks include taking digitalis medications such as digoxin or digitoxin along with medications that interact with digitalis such as quinidine, verapamil, amiodarone, and others.
Avatar f tn tgo to bed because I am waking to make sure I breathe. Can I stop taking Dig and if so are there side affects to that? What should I expect? Please help me!
Avatar n tn Is amiodarone as safe a drug as digoxin or linoxin for A-fib as far as long term side affects are concerned?
Avatar f tn Appareantly those are normal side effects from that medicine. It might take a while to get used to it, if not you should definitely ask to try another one!
Avatar f tn I was on it for a week and ended up in ER due to some nasty side effects like chest pain and severe weakness and shortness of breath. However, I can take a different CCB (Diltiazem) without much trouble. Some people are on beta blockers for years and do well. I hate to say it but it kind of a drug roulette. All the doctor can do is have you try something and see if it helps you. If not, there are other choices out there.
Avatar n tn Did you take Tikosyn? What were side effects, etc.
1098097 tn?1258142472 If he is experiencing an increase in heart palpitations while taking Florinef, I would recommend asking his doctor to check his Potassium level. Florinef can deplete the body of Potassium, which can cause all sorts of unusual side effects. Not to mention the fact that patients with Dysautonomia are notorious for being particularly intolerant to any electrolyte imbalance. The reaction you describe does sound a bit more like an allergic reaction though.
Avatar f tn It takes very careful experimentation to find just the right dosage. There are so many adverse side effects, and with so many new modern alternatives available, my physician would have to a lot of explaining to do in order for me to take it today.

21064 tn?1309308733 I am trying to compile a list of common heart medications for one of the Health Pages. So many times someone asks for suggestions, about side effects, etc. It would be great to have a place closeby where we could provide a hyperlink to more information on medications common for heart patients. Will you please help me by letting me know what medication(s) you are currently taking, or what medication(s) you would like to know more about?
Avatar n tn It does not specify which side effects are from potassium being too high and which are associated with it being too low, but you could certainly google "potassium too high" and get some good information.
Avatar n tn , digoxin, quinidine, tricyclics, and many others and there can electrolyte abnormalities of potassium, magnesium, calcium that will cause an non-specific ST- The electrical impulses follow a conductive pathway and non-specific intra ventricular indicates there may be a right side interruption (in matter discussed, can be left side) to an impulse causing dyssynchrony.
Avatar m tn I took Amiodarone for 9 months for SVTs. I stopped the drug because of the nasty side effects. The skipped beats were gone by then and haven't returned since.
Avatar f tn My wife in the 2nd week of her 6th chemo session of carboplatin, paclitaxel and avastin. Most of the side effects are predictable and have been increasing in severity over the sessions. For the last few days she has been subject to very painful occasions of bloating and severe intestinal gas pain. Don't find these in any of the listings of side effects other than "abdominal pain". Anyone know if this is a common side effect and what can be done about it.
