Avatar n tn All they told me is that I have SVT and that in the upper chamber of my heart there is a nerve that changes the route of the signal that tells the lower part of my heart to beat. When this happens the upper chambers quiver and it does not pass blood through my heart. I get dizzy and the last one started at 3:30 pm and escallated to the last severe one at 1:30 am. I was totally exhausted and I had a severe headache.
Avatar f tn This effect is likely to be caused by reduction of sympathetic activity or increase of parasympathetic activity. Increase of systolic blood pressure during sleep is probably caused by the positive inotropic effect of the drug. Oxygen saturation levels are measured before nebulisation to check the amount of oxygen required to be administered . After the process , the levels are checked to see whether the required levels of above 95 % or more have been reached or not . Hope this helps you .

Avatar n tn s explanation where he states digoxin is used to treat irregular heartbeats. I was on digoxin for a few months following my congested heart failue event. It is my understanding the medication is used to increase contractility of the pumping chambers. My medication for stablizing heart rate is a beta blocker (coreg) and an ACE inhibitor. My research: "Digoxin is contraindicated in patients with ventricular fibrillation.

Avatar f tn s common use is for Afib and Aflutter, beta and calcium channel blockers are the more modern medicine of choice. Digoxin has potentially dangerous interactions with verapamil, and amiodarone, and a number of other commonly prescribed drugs.
Avatar m tn How safe are prescription drugs? In 1998 an extensive study published in the reputable Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) showed that 106,000 people die each year in American hospitals from medication side effects (4). Let's look at this statistic a different way: 106,000 deaths a year averages out to nearly 300 deaths per day, every day. Deaths from all major airline crashes in the U.S.
Avatar f tn s my completely unprofessional opinion on what I know about digoxin, and I took it for a number of years as a kid for SVT. It's an old drug that's been used literally for centuries. I took it back in 1957. It's inherently toxic and if that fact was not enough to curtail its use, there's evidence that suggests the drug, even at dosages normally considered safe, can cause visual problems, serious skin rashes, and may significantly aggravate asthma.
Avatar m tn Would this route of administration work similar to faster acting benzodiazepines such as Xanax or Ativan, or does it depend solely on having a steady amount of Klonopin in your bloodstream already? I'm confused; why would a doctor prescribe Klonopin for anxiety attacks (i.e., take it as needed)?
Avatar n tn I have been taking digoxin .25mg to help control them and 2 baby aspirin daily. I have just started waking out of a SOUND sleep with heart rate in excess of 126 bpm w/ bp146/98 (last night). I will then start shaking. I did goto the ER a few weeks back when my heart rate was 158 bpm and a bp of 198/110, the EMT said I was having an anxiety attack. When I got to the hospital they ran tests and noted that I had no level of digoxin in my blood.

Avatar f tn After my heart attack and surgery I was put on lopressor and amiodarone for heart irregularities. Because of the bad side effects of amiodarone I was taken off of that and also my beta blocker got changed. My beta blocker was changed to metoprolol tartate ..25mg twice a day. It didn't take long before I noticed that I was having pvc's again (hadn't had while on lopressor and amiodarone) and it has progressed to where it is noticeable every day ......all day long.
Avatar n tn Retailers who carry Digitek should return the product to the place of purchase. Overdosing on this drug can be very dangerous. In fact, digoxin was used in a series of murders in the 1980’s and 90’s that were committed by a male nurse who claimed to have killed the patients to “end their suffering”. Digoxin is a generic of digitek and it is the generic that has legal issues.

Avatar m tn A friend of mine has a daughter who had an ablation around that age. She did quite well and is having no problems with her arrhythmias now. What a relief for her to be free of that and go on to enjoy her youth. I've had arrhythmias all my life and didn't hear of "ablations" till 2000 when I was 48 years old.

Avatar n tn I am wondering if you are uneasy about taking digoxin. If so, I would ask you cardio if you can get by with just the TOPROL XL. Digoxin, xanax, toprol xl, and lisinoprol seems like a lot of stuff to be taking. I am a runner and only take TOPROL XL 12.5mg. This knocks out my extra beats and really slows my heart down. A little seems to go a long way for me.
Avatar f tn I am taking Digoxin for tachycardia--my cardiologist says that while there aren't good studies available for cardiac meds while pregnant Digoxin is believed to be safe. It is not a betablocker, however the dr felt the digoxin would be safer than a betablocker while preggo. Also the changes in your blood volume while pregnant may correct the tachycardia.
