Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar n tn One reason may be overmedication of hypothyroidism. Since the onset of af I have taken 2.5 pills of Erfa Thyroid vs 3 before af. Before af I felt excellent. Present symptoms may be due to other diseases. I may have hypeparathyroidism. I am waiting for FESS operation ( chronic sinusitis). Today going to a neurol spec because of trembling of upper back and neck. I also have problems in my lungs.
Avatar f tn This effect is likely to be caused by reduction of sympathetic activity or increase of parasympathetic activity. Increase of systolic blood pressure during sleep is probably caused by the positive inotropic effect of the drug. Oxygen saturation levels are measured before nebulisation to check the amount of oxygen required to be administered . After the process , the levels are checked to see whether the required levels of above 95 % or more have been reached or not . Hope this helps you .
Avatar n tn s explanation where he states digoxin is used to treat irregular heartbeats. I was on digoxin for a few months following my congested heart failue event. It is my understanding the medication is used to increase contractility of the pumping chambers. My medication for stablizing heart rate is a beta blocker (coreg) and an ACE inhibitor. My research: "Digoxin is contraindicated in patients with ventricular fibrillation.
Avatar f tn hi, i want to ask you that which of the digoxin or verapamil are better for prophylactic treatment of paroxysmal superaventricular tachycardia for sone one who was treatet with intravenous adenosine?
Avatar f tn s common use is for Afib and Aflutter, beta and calcium channel blockers are the more modern medicine of choice. Digoxin has potentially dangerous interactions with verapamil, and amiodarone, and a number of other commonly prescribed drugs.
Avatar f tn s my completely unprofessional opinion on what I know about digoxin, and I took it for a number of years as a kid for SVT. It's an old drug that's been used literally for centuries. I took it back in 1957. It's inherently toxic and if that fact was not enough to curtail its use, there's evidence that suggests the drug, even at dosages normally considered safe, can cause visual problems, serious skin rashes, and may significantly aggravate asthma.
Avatar n tn The right-upper chamber node produces electrical impulses that are transmitted to polarize and depolarize specific heart cells. This action contracts and then relaxes heart tissue for heart pumping contractions and relaxation for filling heart chamber. Nonspecific ST-T wave abnormalities, is frequently used when the clinical data are not available to correlate with the ECG findings. This does not mean that the ECG changes are unimportant!
Avatar n tn I have been taking digoxin .25mg to help control them and 2 baby aspirin daily. I have just started waking out of a SOUND sleep with heart rate in excess of 126 bpm w/ bp146/98 (last night). I will then start shaking. I did goto the ER a few weeks back when my heart rate was 158 bpm and a bp of 198/110, the EMT said I was having an anxiety attack. When I got to the hospital they ran tests and noted that I had no level of digoxin in my blood.

Avatar m tn m interested in hearing from anybody who has had similar symptoms, or a similar course of action before getting a diagnosis. I have never really heard of tinnitis or vertigo being symptoms of MS, and those are the main reasons I even started pursuing medical help to begin with. The doctors have ruled out some explanations (like the acoustic neuroma), but there are still other possibilities on the table (Meniere's disease, or even high blood pressure for example).
Avatar n tn It kind of sounds like a form of Action tremors, but I have to agree with mkh9.
Avatar f tn She had her pressure checked manually today, with an infant cuff. She was awake but settled, and her numbers were still high. Her L arm readings were: 128/62 & 130/68 and her R arm was 126/52. So given that she's had 7 high readings, consistently with bottom #'s in the 60's and upper numbers over 100, VSD, ASD, CHF (taking Lasix, Spironolactone & Digoxin), is there a course of action that should be taken?
Avatar n tn Retailers who carry Digitek should return the product to the place of purchase. Overdosing on this drug can be very dangerous. In fact, digoxin was used in a series of murders in the 1980’s and 90’s that were committed by a male nurse who claimed to have killed the patients to “end their suffering”. Digoxin is a generic of digitek and it is the generic that has legal issues.

Avatar m tn The onset of action ranges from 45 minutes - 1 ½ hours, and the duration of action is six hours. Diazepam carries a bi-phasic half-life of 20-50 hours (for Diazepam), and 30-200 hours (for Desmethyldiazepam). Valium is indicated for the long-term management of generalized anxiety and tension-anxiety. Tolerance will not develop to the anxiolytic property of Diazepam, although tolerance will develop to the sedative/hypnotic property.
Avatar n tn I am wondering if you are uneasy about taking digoxin. If so, I would ask you cardio if you can get by with just the TOPROL XL. Digoxin, xanax, toprol xl, and lisinoprol seems like a lot of stuff to be taking. I am a runner and only take TOPROL XL 12.5mg. This knocks out my extra beats and really slows my heart down. A little seems to go a long way for me.
Avatar m tn A partial µ-opioid receptor agonist, its mixed agonist/antagonist activity affords it a lower risk of dependence and abuse than full µ agonists like morphine. Meptazinol exhibits not only a short onset of action, but also a shorter duration of action relative to other opioids such as morphine, pentazocine, or buprenorphine.
Avatar f tn I am taking Digoxin for tachycardia--my cardiologist says that while there aren't good studies available for cardiac meds while pregnant Digoxin is believed to be safe. It is not a betablocker, however the dr felt the digoxin would be safer than a betablocker while preggo. Also the changes in your blood volume while pregnant may correct the tachycardia.
