Common Questions and Answers about Digoxin mg

Avatar f tn The researchers found that the use of digoxin for at least a year was associated with a 30% greater risk of being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Digoxin has a very narrow threputic window. Many patients start on a dosage of 250 mg per day. But this is often too little for some patients and too much for others. It takes very careful experimentation to find just the right dosage.
Avatar f tn I'm 76 and have had 2 cardio versions. My cardio just took me off digoxin and started me on propafenone which is really making me sick. Do you ever adjust to it? I'm taking 225 mg twice a day.
Avatar n tn I dont know about the 325 mg. Im not familiar with the diltiaz but I did take furosemide, metroplol (toprol Xl) and digoxin without a problem.
Avatar n tn I am taking 25 mg of metaprolol split in half. Half in the morning and half at night. I also take 0.25 of digoxin and 5 mg of lisinopril. I have only taken the metaprolol and digoxin for less than a week so I guess it will stabilize soon. So far it has not really helped the arrythmias. If it does not help in several weeks maybe my cardio will change them. Thanks again for your help.
Avatar m tn She had no chest pain, only palpitations and general weakness. She took 1 mg digoxin PO and eventually the episode resolved. Had two more similar episodes in the past year: tachy with normal BP brought on by exertion. EKG was normal the next day. She's a dear family member who doesn't live in the states and her doctor didn't believe her when she described the episode.
Avatar m tn All occurred with activity and were relieved by rest and sublingual nitro. Her daily medications include Digoxin 0.125 mg, Furosemide 40 mg, Warfarin 5 mg, Lovastatin 20 mg at HS. Captopril 12.5 mg. KCL 20 mEq BID, and the nitroglycerine described above. We are to describe the pharmacological treatments present in this persons treatment plan.
304450 tn?1192686333 What is the underlying cause for the low EF. Digoxin can increase contractions and sometimes used if there is heart muscle damage. If the heart is enlarged causing low EF, then afterload can be reduced with medication such as coreg and vessel dilation, etc.
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar n tn s explanation where he states digoxin is used to treat irregular heartbeats. I was on digoxin for a few months following my congested heart failue event. It is my understanding the medication is used to increase contractility of the pumping chambers. My medication for stablizing heart rate is a beta blocker (coreg) and an ACE inhibitor. My research: "Digoxin is contraindicated in patients with ventricular fibrillation.
Avatar n tn The dose of AEC-I has been reduced from 1x12.5 mg to current dose of 1x2.5 mg). The BP did go low on earlier occassions but ACE-I was reduced and BP could be maintained at 110/70. I got my ICD interrogated last week, and it shows no episodes. My EF after MI was about 35-38%, it went down to 25-26% in the first year. After change of cardiologist and reduction in medicines it has gradually returned to 35% (last measured in dec 2009. Until two weeks back I was feeling very good.
Avatar n tn During af I got bisoprolol (not good, stopped), Digoxin and Dilmin (not good, stopped). Digoxin and atenolol were left until I got Multaq a week before electric cardioversion. Atenolol has been very good for me to prevent tachycardia for tens of years. Most betablockers are not good for me. Calcium blockers are not good either, eg. Verapamil is forbidden. I don't know Crestor and Cartia. Do you know to what group of medicines they belong? Now I have been without af over nine months.
Avatar f tn However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes. There are so many newer drugs now that are far more effective. My basic understanding of Digoxin is that it works on the heart's electrical system and decreases the heart rate, but increases each stroke volume.
Avatar m tn (no previous heart problems) Doctor prescribed Digoxin 1.25 MCG per day, and Plavix , to be taken in addition to 81 MG aspirin, (which I have been taking daily for years). My question: Is it safe and is it necessary to take Plavix with aspirin?
471161 tn?1317190950 Does anyone know or have experience with taking Digoxin or Metoprolol and did it cause you to have a choking feeling? I have been on both for about 5 weeks now and have had this choking sensation for about that long. I have been sent for an ultrasound of my neck and they found nothing. My Internest acted like it was in my head and told me to take Tylenol. Maybe she thought I was trying to get pain meds out of her. That just didn't make sense. I am not in pain.
Avatar f tn So our daughter (small ASD, large VSD, currently on 4 mg Lasix, 2 mg Spironolactone & 20 mcg Digoxin, all twice daily) has high blood pressure. Her latest readings (taken while awake, and calm, with an infant MANUAL bp cuff) were 114/80 (left arm) & 110/68 (right arm). What could be causing her high blood pressure?
Avatar f tn Our daughter has a moderate VSD, small ASD, is in moderate congestive heart failure. She was admitted to the hospital on Monday with failure to thrive. While there they checked her blood pressure which was 109/72, and the nurse said she thought that was a bit high. We didn't see the cardiologist. Is that reading high for her age (9.5 weeks)? Or would that be considered normal for a baby with her condition?
Avatar f tn t like that, so he prescribed 100mg Toprol in the morning (that was the only thing I was taking for heart rate after the cardioversion) to that he added the digoxin at noon and Toprol XR 50 mg (half a pill) in the evening. And he also told me to have the ablation to cure the flutter. My concern is that my rate even on all those meds is much higher than it was when j first had the procedure. It is slowly but surely climbing, from 91bpm yesterday at the ER to now 98bpm. Is that normal?
Avatar f tn i hev a question concerning digoxin....wat is its effect in the body. I mean its pharmacokinetic effects. i am having a hard time searching the net for it...
