That's great to hear. I was curious what they chose Digoxin. That is a very, very old drug. I took it in 1957 when I had my first episode of SVT. For me, it did little to stop them. There are so many newer, frontline drugs for the treatment of SVT that don't have the unwanted side effects that digitalis based drugs include. It would be interesting to hear their reasoning for using it. There is something that you should ask you physician. Digoxin has a very long half life.

Beacuse I also have heart problems, the neurologist and cardiologist got together and prescribed DIGOXIN. Altho I have not see anything on the INET about the use of digoxin in auto neuropathy, I don't know why not. It made a tremendous difference in my pulse, bp, and even in decreasing stomache nausea and constipation (stomache is also controlled by vagal nerve). I felt almost normal. Digoxin is the only drug I know of on the market which strengthens the vagal nerve.

I'd be careful with this particular drug by observing the many other side effects it can cause. To the layman that I am, it seems to me that taking Digoxin for your particular heart arrhythmia is like using Malox to treat stomach ulcers when there are numerous and more effective front line medications to treat it.

Lopressor aka. Metoprolol is commonly given today for among other things, SVT. It's a modern (although pretty mature) beta blocker. Lot's of us are prescribed it. I've been on it for nearly 10 years now, and continue to take it following my electrophysiology procedure 4 years ago.

Not the answer/help you're looking for, but I add my data point saying I've taken Toprol and Metoprolol in medium to high dose and have never had a chocking sensation. I do not know anything about Digoxin. If the chocking has not stopped with your discontinuation of Metoprolol I'd say it has/had nothing to do with the chocking.

I am taking 25 mg of metaprolol split in half. Half in the morning and half at night. I also take 0.25 of digoxin and 5 mg of lisinopril. So I had a pretty crappy cold about a week and a half ago, now being on digoxin I can't take cold meds so I stick it out. Well the cold is now over and my teeth are hurting. I see no signs of abscess' and my mom thinks it might be a sinus infection. No from what I've read online they usually give amoxcillin to treat it.
