Avatar n tn I hope you are taking digitalis glycosides (digoxin) as they play an important role apart from the other therapies in improving the EF. I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.
Avatar f tn I have been through Digitalis and Digoxin toxicity. The classic sign of toxicity is seeing 'cracked walls'. I too had the upset stomach and vomiting, but it did not take very long for that to happen to me; I never lasted anywhere near 5 weeks. I would question if something else is going on with that. The other symptoms you describe can also happen as a result of the lower HR and BP.
Avatar n tn I have seen green halos before due to digoxin toxicity....You don't happen to be on that drug are you? I remember it was awful....Regardless, if you keep seeing green, please see someone about it.
Avatar f tn I agree with everything pointed out above. It is way too early to in the healing process for anything to be "normal". You're going to need to give it a lot of time, perhaps up to a year for things to settle down. I get skips and little runs of SVT, and mine was down over 4 years ago. Keep in mind that the conductive circuit remains within your heart. Nothing was removed or taken out. Only a tiny scar tissue barrier was burned across it to prevent conduction.
Avatar f tn I received a letter in the mail from the pharmaceutical company stating they accidentally put a double dose of the medication digoxin I was taking since my surgery because of an irregular heartbeat. I feel that this is the reason I now need these valves replaced but all the doctors feel differently. I would like to know if anyone has had 3 valves replaced at one time? I had rheumatic fever when I was young and that's why I needed the valves replaced the first time.
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar n tn s explanation where he states digoxin is used to treat irregular heartbeats. I was on digoxin for a few months following my congested heart failue event. It is my understanding the medication is used to increase contractility of the pumping chambers. My medication for stablizing heart rate is a beta blocker (coreg) and an ACE inhibitor. My research: "Digoxin is contraindicated in patients with ventricular fibrillation.
386141 tn?1291396896 Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this or tried it?. It is supposed to contain Digitalis ( think that is how it is spelt) which helps with heart contractions.
1585301 tn?1296785573 With an EKG output an abnormal reading does not mean anything is wrong. Digitalis may have various ECG manifestations. Thus, there may be arrhythmic disturbances, conduction block, or a combination of both. ST abnormality can be due to a prior heart attack (myocardial infarction), and/or ischemia (occluded coronary vessels) that reduces the supply of blood to heart cells.
Avatar f tn However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes. There are so many newer drugs now that are far more effective. My basic understanding of Digoxin is that it works on the heart's electrical system and decreases the heart rate, but increases each stroke volume.
Avatar m tn Depending on the cause of CHF there are a few basic groups of medications that could be prescribed, depending on the specific heart condition are digitalis medicines, diuretics, Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBS) and nitrate or hydralazine. Digitalis medicines improve circulation by increasing the force of the heart’s contractions. Diuretics are prescribed to patients whose bodies retain fluid.
Avatar f tn i hev a question concerning digoxin....wat is its effect in the body. I mean its pharmacokinetic effects. i am having a hard time searching the net for it...
1585301 tn?1296785573 You have an answer to your other post with the same questions. Thank you, and please don't double post it can cause some confusion.
162069 tn?1224677411 It seems that the addition of digoxin to her regimen is what has done the trick, as it has significantly lowered her amount of SVT pac's are still very frequent, but as long as her ef is improved I am a very happy camper....
Avatar n tn I am wondering if you are uneasy about taking digoxin. If so, I would ask you cardio if you can get by with just the TOPROL XL. Digoxin, xanax, toprol xl, and lisinoprol seems like a lot of stuff to be taking. I am a runner and only take TOPROL XL 12.5mg. This knocks out my extra beats and really slows my heart down. A little seems to go a long way for me.
Avatar f tn I am taking Digoxin for tachycardia--my cardiologist says that while there aren't good studies available for cardiac meds while pregnant Digoxin is believed to be safe. It is not a betablocker, however the dr felt the digoxin would be safer than a betablocker while preggo. Also the changes in your blood volume while pregnant may correct the tachycardia.
4356842 tn?1353312209 Been taking digoxin since being diagnosed. I am pretty sure I have had svt all my life, I do recall having attacks when I was younger, but three years ago is when it go bad and more frequent. My cardio told me at first that he things surgery is a last resort for me. I am tired of dealing with the episodes. I feel lucky that their not that bad and that they are tolerable. I am just worried about having the ablation and coming out worse than what I am now.
Avatar f tn I'm 76 and have had 2 cardio versions. My cardio just took me off digoxin and started me on propafenone which is really making me sick. Do you ever adjust to it? I'm taking 225 mg twice a day.
