8 years later I had to have triple bipass surgery diagnosed by the same heart doctor. Just after the surgery, in the hospital, they said it looked like I had diabetes and my heart had a little bit of funny beating rythm. They stopped Actos because my family doctor said I did not have sugar. 4 months later I started noticing affects like falling asleep at work or at the wheel of the car and began taking caffiene pills.

The only medication I was taking was Metoprolol Tartrate & Lasix. However, the coughing-hacking got worse after surgery but my Metoprolol Tartrate was increased. My husband went into a fib on Friday and they put him on it. He converted while in the ER and was told to take it in addition to his beta blocker. I do know the cause is not Digoxin. I do remember I was on Metoprolol Tartrate before surgery. I can't remember if I was on Lasix though. I think I was on Lasix. The acid levels rise. The body will go into cardiac shock. The lungs, kidneys, liver shut down. His heart was too weak to support his organs. Left side heart failure happens suddenly.

He has surgery scheduled next week and my gut tells me his body will still be adjusting to the new medication never mind withdrawing from Atenolol.
