Avatar m tn Then I found on the internet how toxic Digoxin could be with the other medicines I was taking, and that no one should be kept on it for very long. Since the second cardiologist removed Digoxin from my prescriptions, and I was healing and getting better, I think I must have been under a toxic level of Digoxin causing blood in my urine and poisoning affects of awake,eyesight,cuts,etc..
Avatar f tn Just got an email from the np that said she had talked to the doctor and wants to put me on Vitamin k 10 mg daily. I gave her the pharmacy number and asked her to send me the lab results. Still waiting to hear back. Have any of you had to do this before? What is the Vitamin k used for? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Vitamin K is an essential vitamin but too much can be toxic to the liver. Vitamin K2 has shown more benefits to the liver, particularly in the area of fibrosis, also known as MK7, you can read more about it on the life extention web site. I think the verdict is out on whether this is a good thing or not for liver patients, and especially while on tx the risks may outweigh the benfit..
Avatar n tn I have heard that there is some problem mixing vitamin K with a blood thinner. I am taking 75 mg of plavix and cannot find anything about the vitamin K interaction. I need additional calcium, and the brand I am looking at taking would give me 40mcg of vitamin K. Is this safe or a problem? Where can I find how much vitamin K is in a serving of broccoli or spinich?
Avatar f tn I have read of using a constant daily low dosage (100mcg) of vitamin K to resolve INR instability the theory being that the instability may be due to a vitamin K deficiency and the constant dosage gives a bias level for the coumadin to work against. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?
Avatar f tn I think those who are opposed to a vitamin K shot for baby should do more research. Vitamin K can prevent a bleeding disorder, not blood clotting. Vitamin K aids in the ability of blood to clot, which is why it is given to newborns as a preventative measure. A lactation consultant friend sent me a link to an article, which includes statistics, about this very debate. http://evidencebasedbirth.
Avatar f tn There are possible negative side effects and it's 20,000 times more then they need there are alternatives such as breastfeeding and oral versions of it. I'm doing the other shots and I will vaccinate my baby. But the vitamin K if you need to sign a consent to a shot I think it's a little questionable. I have an appointment tomorrow I'm going to talk with my doctor about my options. Because I want him to get his vitamin K I would just rather it through different means.
535822 tn?1443976780 But, when someone decided to supplement them with magnesium, too, then their little bodies made use of the vitamin D and the children finally started to improve and they finally recovered from the Rickets. It was heart-breaking to read about how the parents were blamed for child abuse when it was really a case of malnourishment that the parents and even the doctors were unaware of. My neurologist wants me to concentrate on taking the magnesium supplements to help with the migraines.
Avatar f tn It has really not had any affect on me at all. The one thing that I know warfarin affects is Vitamin K. Vitamin K is what causes your blood to clot. Therefore the warfarin cancels out some of the Vit. K to make your blood thinner. I have to have my Protime (PT) checked every couple of months to make sure my blood is not too thin or thick. Really no big deal. BTW, it doesn't lower blood count, just the ability to clot.
4939681 tn?1361299299 Re Vitamin K: I realized not long ago that I had worked myself into a calcium deficiency by avoiding milk (I'm lactose intolerant), and I needed more calcium in my diet that I just wasn't getting enough of from dark leafy greens alone. A good friend who is an amateur herbalist suggested I take Vitamin K-2 (not just Vitamin K, which can be at least two kinds, K-1 and K2, iirc), because K-2 is the specific one that accomplishes the transport of the calcium into bones.
Avatar f tn My husband and I would like to start trying for a baby but i'm on Betablockers for a tachycardia that no-one can find a reason for! i'm only on 1.25mg of bisoprolol, and would like to know what risks there are. I'm currently on a waiting list to see cardiology and find out what their opinion is but would like a bit of advice.
Avatar f tn Tingly feet, legs and hands, unbalanced and lightheaded and have passed out a few times. Now, with my new bloodwork my Vitamin K is elevated at 1453. I have no idea what this means. Am I not processing vitamins correctly in my body because of the MTHFR gene mutation. My doctors don't seem to have an answer for me.
Avatar f tn I was reading yesterday that after the baby born the midwife will ask you if you agree to give him vitamin k . This is new for me ( FTM) ..of course if it is good for my son l will do it, just want to know if you have been through this ?
Avatar f tn My HR is the same and I do not take any other medications, just a vitamin. The drug info says these can be side effects and i am wondering if these are a forever side effect or just my body getting adjusted. The doc said it take 6 days to be therapeutic so why would i be getting the side effects now?
Avatar n tn My father recenlty fell, fractured his hip and I have been getting contradicting information about digoxin, since he has low blood pressure and digoxin may not be safe for him.. Thank you This discussion is related to Dijoxin Level.
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.
Avatar n tn The skin on the rest of my body does NOT do this. My dermatologist recommended vitamin C serum to improve my skin and vitamin K cream to help the bruises. He also prescribed ammonium lactate lotion for my dry skin. I have used these creams for several months with little result. The vitamin K cream does seem to help the bruises fade faster. Is there anything else I can do to prevent this problem?
1298588 tn?1330318981 In my country, we often lack vitamin D in the winter (cold and little sun) so we take fish oils or vitamin D supplements. Whenever I do this through a multivitamin, my B12 gets too high. No vitamin directly affect the heart rhythm, but several minerals do. Make sure your potassium, calcium and magnesium are within normal limits. As DeltaDawn said, vitamin K can be a problem when you have A-fib (coumadin is as far as I know, a vitamin K "blocker").
4356842 tn?1353312209 So I had a pretty crappy cold about a week and a half ago, now being on digoxin I can't take cold meds so I stick it out. Well the cold is now over and my teeth are hurting. I see no signs of abscess' and my mom thinks it might be a sinus infection. No from what I've read online they usually give amoxcillin to treat it. My question is has anyone else on digoxin taken amoxcillin? Is it safe. Being on dig I know there's a lot of stuff we can and can not take.
Avatar f tn The amount of vitamin K is an insane amount, I have read as much as 25,000 times the amount (give or take, depending on size of baby) and the overload causes the body to overreact and not absorbed correctly. Vitamin K toxicity causes jaundice, which is already a problem facing newborns without the shot. During the last trimester, the vitamin K levels for the mother decrease and more is passed through the placenta, therefore newborns have their own supply of vitamin K.
Avatar f tn The Heart Rhythm Society did a few randomized trials to assess the efficacy of calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers and digoxin in SVT. A comparison of verapamil, propranolol and digoxin showed equivalent efficacy in a small group of patients. However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes.
Avatar f tn I have some Afib and some PAC's, my doc said Digoxin and Toprol do the same thing, I chose the Digoxin. Does anyone take the Digoxin for these conditions and it works? Which do you think is better?
Avatar m tn Although, there was no deficiency with that vitamin, the doctors suggested us to continue cartinine vitamin supplements for her as there are not much side effects. Currently she is on enapril, lasix, digoxin. Her EF when we had checked last month was 25%.
