Avatar f tn Our daughter has a moderate VSD, small ASD, is in moderate congestive heart failure. She was admitted to the hospital on Monday with failure to thrive. While there they checked her blood pressure which was 109/72, and the nurse said she thought that was a bit high. We didn't see the cardiologist. Is that reading high for her age (9.5 weeks)? Or would that be considered normal for a baby with her condition?
Avatar f tn 20 mcg Digoxin, all twice daily) has high blood pressure. Her latest readings (taken while awake, and calm, with an infant MANUAL bp cuff) were 114/80 (left arm) & 110/68 (right arm). What could be causing her high blood pressure?
Avatar f tn Our DD was born with a moderate/large VSD and ASD, only she was in heart failure by 10 days old, was placed on Lasix, Digoxin and Spironolactone and NG tube by 6 weeks. She was in very significant heart failure. She is now 3.5 years old, and surgery free. Both defects improved enough that surgery ended up not being warranted. She is still small, at 3 years, 7 months she is still only 28.5 lbs, but she is perfectly healthy!

Avatar f tn My husband and I would like to start trying for a baby but i'm on Betablockers for a tachycardia that no-one can find a reason for! i'm only on 1.25mg of bisoprolol, and would like to know what risks there are. I'm currently on a waiting list to see cardiology and find out what their opinion is but would like a bit of advice.
Avatar n tn My father recenlty fell, fractured his hip and I have been getting contradicting information about digoxin, since he has low blood pressure and digoxin may not be safe for him.. Thank you This discussion is related to Dijoxin Level.
Avatar n tn I took Digoxin for a number of years in reponse to an atrial fibrillation event. My new physician did not feel I needed to be on it any longer. What are the side effects of discontinuing this medication? I have been off it for several months and some odd changes in my body.

Avatar n tn He is on daily aspirin, a beta blocker (carvedilol), a statin (pravastatin), ACE inhibitor (ramipril) and spironolactone. I have heard that sprinolocatone particularly could affect fertility but am struggling to find any clear research or guidelines about this. I think he is on quite a low dose of the spironolactone. I know the easiest thing would be to get a sperm count done but we dont feel quite ready to do this.
4356842 tn?1353312209 So I had a pretty crappy cold about a week and a half ago, now being on digoxin I can't take cold meds so I stick it out. Well the cold is now over and my teeth are hurting. I see no signs of abscess' and my mom thinks it might be a sinus infection. No from what I've read online they usually give amoxcillin to treat it. My question is has anyone else on digoxin taken amoxcillin? Is it safe. Being on dig I know there's a lot of stuff we can and can not take.
Avatar f tn She is currently on Lasix, Spironolactone, Digoxin for her heart. Right now her symptoms as far as breathing, sweating etc.. are very well controlled by medications, though she's still struggling to gain weight. She had an NG feeding tube inserted due to failure to thrive, and even with the tube & 27-cal formula she only gained 20 grams in the last week. I'm wondering if we are wise to wait that long?
Avatar f tn The Heart Rhythm Society did a few randomized trials to assess the efficacy of calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers and digoxin in SVT. A comparison of verapamil, propranolol and digoxin showed equivalent efficacy in a small group of patients. However, in general calcium channel blockers and beta-blockers are preferred to digoxin. Digoxin has been around for a long time! I used Digoxin over 50 years ago for my PSVT, and my recollection was that it did little to prevent episodes.
Avatar f tn I have some Afib and some PAC's, my doc said Digoxin and Toprol do the same thing, I chose the Digoxin. Does anyone take the Digoxin for these conditions and it works? Which do you think is better?
Avatar n tn s contractions are weaker than normal, and digoxin helps provide a stronger beating heart. If one has increased functionality of the heart, the drug may be dropped, also, there can be a tolerance that develops with digoxin that may require discontinuation for a period of time.
Avatar n tn I am overweight, hirsutism, menstrual irregularies, depression. As prescribed I am taking Spironolactone Tablest and Metformin.I am scared of huge side effects of Spironolactone(being systemic drug).Kindly put your experience of using Spironolactone? . How should I adjust dosage and manage side effects. For how many years will I used it.
Avatar f tn s my completely unprofessional opinion on what I know about digoxin, and I took it for a number of years as a kid for SVT. It's an old drug that's been used literally for centuries. I took it back in 1957. It's inherently toxic and if that fact was not enough to curtail its use, there's evidence that suggests the drug, even at dosages normally considered safe, can cause visual problems, serious skin rashes, and may significantly aggravate asthma.
Avatar f tn I know if i was on digoxin i would look at the packaging the pharmacy gave me and go directly to the horses mouth so to speak and go onto the manufactuerers site and see what they have to say about long term effects, etc. They should tell you what the clinical studies showed, side effects and all of the pertinent information....good luck to you....
Avatar m tn Then I found on the internet how toxic Digoxin could be with the other medicines I was taking, and that no one should be kept on it for very long. Since the second cardiologist removed Digoxin from my prescriptions, and I was healing and getting better, I think I must have been under a toxic level of Digoxin causing blood in my urine and poisoning affects of awake,eyesight,cuts,etc..
