Avatar n tn A multivitamin has magnesium in it so this should be fine. Potassium and magnesium levels often go together, and if there is a low potassium there also may be a low magnesium level. There are many websites that can educate you on foods that have high and safe levels of magnesium and potassium to incorporate in your diet. I would start with these conservative measures first.
Avatar n tn It can be a tall T wave and the cause includes hyperkalaemia (too much potassium in the blood), hyperacute myocardial infarction (heart attack...heart muscle damage) and left bundle branch block (causes arrhythmia). Usually requires other abnormal wave forms in addition to the t wave abnormality. Causes of small, flattened or inverted T waves are numerous and include ISCHEMIA (blocked or partially blocked arteries), age, race, hyperventilation, anxiety, drinking iced water, LVH, drugs (e.g.
Avatar m tn I used to take aldactone but had to discontinue as it was increasing my serum Potassium level. Dr has now started me on Eptus 25 with strict advice that I do blood test for Potassium every week and report back to him. LVEF very rarely improves. I have an ICD implanted to address pacing and sudden heart stoppage. I feel fine and drive car and do all normal activities. Just be sure to limit your water intake and salt intake. Best of luck.
Avatar n tn I went to my cardiologist, she increased my digoxin from .25 to .375 and told me that my potassium level was on the lower end of normal to eat a banana or drink a glass of OJ daily. I had asked her if she thought it was some sort of panic attack (I have no prior panic attacks) with really no response other than lets monitor for the next 3 months. Well it has been 3 weeks now and I have woken up at least 2 times a week w/ the same problem.

398059 tn?1447945633 Your nephrologist may advise you to check her serum potassium at frequent intervals (elevated serum potassium by more than 5 mmol/l may lead to worsening of the renal failure and heart-related problems). It is wise to follow a diet low in potassium and avoid citrus fruits which are rich in potassium.
1090423 tn?1286287650 Were there diagnostic tests done in the past? You need to have imaging studies and blood tests including serum potassium to check on your potassium levels also. Have this checked by your doctor or have another doctor's opinion if you are not comfortable with your previous doctor's management. Take care and do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn Recently, I tried a potassium gluconate supplement. I experienced rapid and dramatic reduction in all of my symptoms. This effect has been repeatable for 2 months. If I stop the supplementation, the symptoms return within a day. Severe, chronic symptoms improved: • Asthma and respiratory issues. • Nasal congestion. • Constipation. • Headaches. • Muscle cramping, weakness and pain. • Insomnia. • Palpitations. I’ve also suffered from unexplained osteoporosis since my twenties.
Avatar f tn Underlying cause can be excessive potassium intake, disturbed cellular uptake of potassium, or impaired renal excretion of potassium. My system is periodically tested to monitor renal excretion of potassium as well as liver functionality. An ACE inhibitor as well as a beta blocker can raise potassium to an abnormal level. Hyperkalemia has been reported in 1.3% (serum potassium greater than 6.0 mEq/mL) to 10% (greater than 5.3 mEq/mL) of patients.
Avatar f tn My husband and I would like to start trying for a baby but i'm on Betablockers for a tachycardia that no-one can find a reason for! i'm only on 1.25mg of bisoprolol, and would like to know what risks there are. I'm currently on a waiting list to see cardiology and find out what their opinion is but would like a bit of advice.

Avatar f tn My dog has had a very severe and difficult case of epilepsy, and after 6 months of raising Phenobarbital and adding Potassium Bromide, we added another drug called Keppra and are finally seeing results: down to one seizure every 3-5 days, with NO clusters (his were up to 15 in a day).
