Diflucan yeast infection pill

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan yeast infection pill

Diflucan is usually prescribed as one pill of 150mg, depending on the person and the yeast infection more than one pill may be prescribed or at higher doses. Once taking the diflucan 150mg it usually stays in your system for at least 7 days. Were you only prescribed one tablet?
I have a yeast infection and took the oral pill and got some external cream. How long do i need to wait before having intercourse again? I have had problems for 3 years and finally got a hysterectomy. I have finally found an understanding man and we are very sexually active more than daily.. I want to know how long we have to wait before having sex?
Hi, I took the morning after pill and began having symptoms of a yeast infection one week later. I have taken Diflucan 200 mg x 2 and just went back to my gynecologist and I still had the yeast I am now using Terconazole 80 mg suppositories. Is this something that will eventually resolve or am I looking at having a chronic yeast infection from using the morning after pill which changed my PH levels from the high dose of synthetic hormones?
Called the doc, and he called in Diflucan pill. 2 Questions--does the yeast infection have anything to do with the steroid (doubtful b/c one occured before the other) Main question--can my using the steroid make the diflucan ineffective? I can usually tell a difference by now, and don't have to take the 2nd dose. But, tonight makes 48 hours since the first diflucan pill and still no relief. Do steroids affect Diflucan? Thanks...
cheese discharge. Was sure it was a yeast infection. Only had it once before, 2 years ago when I was pregnant, but I remember it well! MD gave my Diflucan ( I think one dose) and gynazol-1 cream. It worked well, but I don't remember how long it took. This time, I tried Monistat3 before calling the MD and it burned really badly...so I called her and she prescribed the Diflucan and the gynazole cream. This time she gave my a 150 mg pill to take on Sunday, Wed, and again on Saturday.
Could cold medicine have interfed with the diflucan? What can I do to clear up this yeast infection? It's very bothersome! Thanks for your help!
i went to the dr. and she said i had a slight yeast infection and gave me 1 pill of fluconazole. its a one time pill to cure it. but today it still burns alittle after urinating sometimes, ocassionaly itchy. how long does the pill stay in your system for?
Diflucan - is a pill - but you can't get it over the counter. Must have perscription. 1 pill doasge & the infection should be gone within 3 days.
Yeah, diflucan (the one time pill) is awesome. Definitely don't take antibiotics for a yeast infection--you'll make it worse. If it hasn't been swabbed and checked for yeast, it's possible you could have something like bacterial vaginosis, which would require antibiotics. It could also be just the delay between treatment and relief. Even if you take the one pill, you will still itch for a few days. If you're still itching in a few days or it gets way worse, see your doctor.
one word: Diflucan. It treats a yeast infection effectively in 24 hours and it's just one tiny pill you take. It's presciption only though. You should go to the doctor anyway and get properly diagnosed.
there are stronger medications your doctor can give you for a yeast infection like diflucan. it's just one pill. ask for that instead of buying over the counter stuff.
For about the past day I have been having severe itching and irritation down there and was wondering if that's a sign of a yeast infection. Discharge and everything is normal. It is just really bothering me.
For OTC meds do Monistat 7 ( the 7 day cream ) and do it right before bed at night ... If you go to your doc they will proscribe you one pill that stays in your system for 7 days but does nothing for the itching at all..
i have never had a yeast infection but I think I may have one now. Have any of you had one and if so what do you do to treat it?
It certainly sounds consistent with a yeast infection, especially since your symptoms improved with the diflucan. (I'm assuming that was the pill you took). Sometimes the inflammation takes a while to die down, even after the yeast is under control. Sometimss a steroid cream such as Clobetasol is necessary, or you might respond to hydrocortisone. Also, you will want to re-establish the "good bacteria" so the yeast doesn't come right back again.
well i have had a yeast infection for maybe 2 weeks now my doctor said i still have a lil case of a yeast infection i used the monistate for 3 days but i had missed 1 day but took it the next maybe that could be the problem should i get some more monistate medicine and a few days ago my discharge would be a lil red bloody like but it wouldnt itch as bad as it was what you think could be the problem
I've had a yeast infection since last Friday. I did the one day treatment (monistat), didn't go away. Went to the dr and got diflucan, took the pill last night. It's still not gone. Could this be something worse? or am I expecting a miracle overnight? I can always get rid of them with monistat. Anyone have a clue?
i took a diflucan pill and then also used a monistat one day suppository (with the cream it came with) in the same day thinking i would speed up the healing process and it made it all feel worse. It completely accelerated the burning and itching. What can i do to help this now? I have read online that i just created a "super resistant yeast" possibly! Help!
Yesterday I was diagnosed with a yeast infection and the doctor gave me a Diflucan (sp?) pill which I took around 4pm. Today, I noticed the one scratch/cut I had was gone but the area around it seemed dry and flaky. Also, I've noticed a slight increase in discharge nothing extreme but definitely not my normal amount of discharge. I was just wondering if this was normal? Thank you.
In september i went for a full std checkup for a green discharge and oder and suprisinly everything tested negative and i was told it was a yeast infection. I wasnt happy with that so i got a pap smear everything tested negative again. The green color went away know i always have a creamy white discharge. So i gave up on that. In november i got punemonia and got put on antibiotics and since then i've been on like 20 different sets of antibiotics, i know its horrible.

So this is my first yeast infection-sexually active with my fiance. i first started it right before my period, and it continued afterwards so i went to my dr and got a perscription for diflucan, one pill treatment. it's been about 3 days and i'm still producing the white discharge and am very slightly itchy still but otherwise feel fine. how long does it take for the diflucan to work usually and is there anything else i can do to speed it along?
Any mommy ever take diflucan 150 mg its a one time pill for a yeast infection
im 28 rys old, female and married. i've been suffering a yeast infection for almost 2 months now due to antibiotics. first the doctor gave me 7 day vaginal cream clotrimazole. But then, i still have the burning sensation after 7 days treatment. so i went to another doctor, and she gave me diflucan 150mg one pill only.i took it for the past 7 days. she said i would not have sex for 1 week. it will remains in my body for many days. but how come, i still have the burning sensation?
He or she would be the best to tell you about side effects. If not enough info from that person, then go see your ob-gyn. Probably there are yeast-infection/antibiotic/birth- control-pill knowledgeable women posting here, but it is a complex interaction you are asking about, and an ob-gyn would be the best to advise you. Home treatment of a YI without even a call to a doc makes me nervous.
I suggest you go to the doctor and confirm if it's a yeast infection or not. If you treat yourself for yeast infection and have a bacterial vaginosis instead, you will only make it worse.
He said not the 3 or 1 day, but the seven day. I asked him about that pill but he said definitely NOT. Also I had a yeast infection for a couple of weeks before I had any discharge or foul smell. Just itching. My doc did not give me an exam either but he was right. I have only had 2 in my life and I'm 38. Hope this helps.
