diflucan

Avatar f tn I've had diabetes for almost 40 years, I'm IN my 40's, a female married to same man (thus one sexual partner) for over 25yrs. My GP recently dx'd me w/double ear infection & put me on Omnicef (I am an SJS survivor so antibiotics are a dangerous area for me as I developed SJS after taking Bactrim.. for an ear infection, no less!
Avatar n tn m hoping to see the doctor again soon. I read on the internet that Fluconazole is not the most effective medication, and oral Lamisil is better. Is this true? Should I ask for Lamisil when I see the doctor? I'm worried that what I have is not ringworm at all, but then again, it did respond somewhat to the Fluconazole.
Avatar n tn yeah nystatin is actually not as effective...BUUUT much safer since it's not absorbed into the blood barrier so..your doctor will probably have no problem letting you try nystatin or nystatin WITH diflucan. I've heard you can take high amounts of that pill with little risk. Good luck with that... my doctor looked at me stupid when I asked about Candida.. I know lots of doctors discount it but i'm glad you have a diagnosis.
Avatar m tn 2 years ago my doctor prescribed Diflucan and it worked well for a while (cleared up the infection right away). About 8 months ago the Diflucan stopped being as effective, and I would have to take one 150mg pill then followed by another 150mg pill 3 days later. For the past 6 months I've had a yeast infection that has not really gone away. I have relief for a couple days to a week max and then the symptoms returned.
Avatar n tn Generic valacyclovir and brand name Valtrex are not the exact same formula. The generic is not nealry as effective. I took the brand name valtrex by GlaxoSmithKline for 9 yrs with ZERO outbreaks. My insurance changed last year and they will no longer pay for the brand name. In the 9 months I've been taking the same dose of the generic valacyclovir, I've had several outbreaks. I've tried 3 different generic manufacturers without success.
Avatar n tn I did in fact get tonsils out when I was little so I know it is not tonsil stones or tonsilitis. Just hoping someone can answer my questions and I am hoping I do not have something that is contagious or life threatening. I do not think so but you never know. My throat is a bit sore as well. Drinking water helps a little bit. I do not know this is an allergic reaction or thrush or what? And if it is thrust how do you get it? Thanks for the advice.
Avatar n tn One common cause would be a mild yeast imbalance. You should probably go to the doc and be checked for yeast. Diflucan is a very effective tablet by Rx. Or take Azo-Yeast, 2 pills a day while reducing dietary sugar and carbs and increasing vegetables. Use a very mild soap, like unscented Dove. You could use a topical yeast medicine, but they have ingredients that irritate a lot of women.
Avatar n tn I was treated for a yeast infection last month with diflucan and it worked great. I do have some discharge now with these new bumps. What could it be? I'm flipping out a bit over here!
Avatar f tn On May 2nd, I was treated for gonnorhea with a shot of rociphine and 1,000 mg azithromycin. About a week later, I went back to my doctor having burning, itching, and irritation. I was given Diflucan to take one pill every other day for 6 days. After finishing that, I still didn't feel better. Called my doctor this time and they told me to buy Monistat 7 and try that to see if symptoms cleared up. After those 7 days, I still wasn't feeling better.
Avatar f tn So about 2 months ago I had an outbreak and learned I had general herpes. One month ago I developed oral thrush. I have taken a suspension, diflucan, and lozenge and the thrush is not improving. I was concerned there could be something larger wrong since the herpes and thrush issues started. I got a CBC, thyroid, blood sugar, mono and strep test- all results fine. My doctor wants me to go to the ENT next. I had my annual in April and hiv test was negative...
Avatar n tn These include topical antifungals like econazole (Spectazole) or oxiconazole (Oxistat) and oral antifungals like Itraconazole (Sporanox),Fluconazole (Diflucan) or Terbinafine (Lamisil) Triamcolone acetonide is a more potent type of triamcinolone, being about 8 times as effective as prednisone. It should not be used to treat fungal infections without consulting a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn Its a good combo. I am allergic to sulfa so I was on rifampin.
Avatar n tn I should also note that I have not had sex since showing symptoms so I know I am not being reinfected by a male partner.
Avatar n tn I have a patch of raised white bumps in the back center of my tongue that appeared about three days ago and are still there. They do not hurt unless I pick at them but they are raised so they are irritating. I have been rinsing with a medical oral wash but it has not seemed to help. I burnt my tongue several days ago but I have burnt it before and this has never happen. Do you have any idea what this might be?
Avatar n tn But the best and most effective treatment is thrush cream (clotrimazole 2%) for external thrush and a pessary for internal thrush
Avatar n tn I took the Diflucan. Day 5 i got my period. What do i do now?? And can i re-fill my Diflucan to take when i am thru with the antibiotic?? And really no tampons?? at all??
Avatar f tn You may need to repeat, but asking you to go two more weeks is too much to ask. What you are using probably is not effective in general. I use over the counter Monostat one day ovules. The problem is, the issue of why you are getting the yeast overgrowth will not go away until you stop taking the other med. Maybe using that med is no longer necessary and you can stop sooner than 2 weeks? So, check back in with your doctor.
Dog When you return, your doctor may want to prescribe diflucan for you--which is oral, and possibly a bit more effective. As far as which to use, most brands are very similar. Good luck!
Avatar m tn I use to take macrodantin and cipro and I would clear. Now the macrodantin is not effective and I needed to take cipro with doxy for 21 days and that seemed to finally clear. I have had a test for gc or ngu and it was negative. I do not have pain when i urinate so I feel that it may not be a UTI but PID. Any idea's on what to do?
Avatar m tn hi grace, they did not do any testing of the secretions... by the time i got in to see the doctor almost 10 days had passed since my initial symptoms plus my period had just begun so she did not see anything worth while to test. the uncertainty of what it was is tough to take... i have not had any recurrences in over 2 years and now i'm under the impression that i may have just had 2 in the last 3 months.
Avatar f tn this is my first yeast infection so i dont know why diflucan will not cure me. i am 22 years old, smoke and drink on the weekends, work out regularly, work nights, recently pretty stressed. tested negative for STD'S (including HIV), not a diabetic. im starting to change my diet more to eliminate yeast and sugar, and taking probiotics--but im feeling helpless and worried! any suggestions would help please, i feel like it is only getting worse...
215461 tn?1331862765 A few months ago I noticed my mouth was really sore when I woke up. I looked in the mirror and I had white ulcers on my tongue. At first I was treated for thrush although the docs didn't think it was thrush. That did nothing. I then noticed I had white lacy stuff all over the sides of my mouth, and gums. Basically my whole mouth has problems. I seen an ENT who gave me a biopsy.
