I was on Augmentin (antibiotic) for a foot infection about a month ago and then soon started developing stomach cramps. I figured the cramps were related to what was wrong with my penis. The doctor said the antibiotics killed off the good AND bad bacteria in my stomach leaving me vulnerable to contracting this yeast infection, even on my penis head. Does this sound unusual, just kinda looking for opinions!
By this time my wife had come down with a yeast infection. I went back to the doctor and he gave me some diflucan. After 3 days the symptoms subsided, but never entirely went away. My wife's symptoms went away completely after 3 days of diflucan.
I went back to the doctor again. This time he did an STD screen for clamydia and gonnorea, both negative. He gave me some z-pack antibiotic to clear up any other bacteria, and told me to continue taking the difulcan.
since then i have been to my gyno who cultured my yeast infection and said best medication for it was diflucan, so he also prescribed me to diflucan for 7 days-never went away. then he again prescribed me diflucan 150 once for 3 weeks. never went away!!!
this is my first yeast infection so i dont know why diflucan will not cure me. i am 22 years old, smoke and drink on the weekends, work out regularly, work nights, recently pretty stressed.
It sounds as though it could possibly be herpes? You could google herpes and see what they look like and compare to what you have. Have you been to an obgyn? I would definitely suggest that. If it was a yeast infection the diflucan and creams should have worked. I"ve never heard of open sores with a yeast infection. I hope you start to feel better soon. I know it must be very painful. Let us know!!
I've had a yeast infection before, and everytime I have ever had it, I have had itchy skin that spreads and resembles something like psoriasis or something, this time it has stayed localized. I did call and my doctor did prescribe me diflucan, but I'm wondering also how long it takes to go into affect? I took it on the 25th, and I still have quite the yeasty discharge.
I've been taking Keflex and Prednisone for an ear infection that I've had for 2 months (this is my 3rd antibiotic in the last 2 months) and I have developed a very red rash starting right below the opening of my vagina, the skin beside it(kinda the start of my ver inner butt cheek), all the way up to my anus. The rash is itchy and sore (esp on my anus). It looks like a severe diaper rash. I've seen this type of rash on a friends child who had an external yeast infection.

In my opinion it could be fungal since you have absolutely ruled bacteria out, harmful bacteria anyway. Just to be sure why don't you get yourself 150mg of diflucan for fungal infections, if you don't have a fungal infection the diflucan won't harm you anyway.
The most important thing to do is to let go of the STD fear. Paranoia and anxiety play a major role in your body, it could be as simple as genital focused anxiety.

So my doctor prescribed Doxycycline antibiotic. The infection cleared up very quickly, but I continued the dose for 10 days. On the last day, a small red bump on scrotum that freaked me out, so I went to urgent care and the doctor said it was an infected hair follicle and prescribed Bectrum DS for another 10 days. That's when my problems started. I noticed skin lesions on both sides of the shaft on my penis. They didn't hurt, but when I touched them, they would itch.
I went to the dr last Thursday which is when I took the diflucan, a prescription antifungal. I don't really want to take more diflucan though, I'm more interested if anyone has tried and true methods to get rid of stubborn yeast infections. In late June I was diagnosed with my first yeast infection. I took monistat and diflucan and the infection went away quickly. A couple weeks later I got a UTI. A few days after finishing the antibiotics I began to have the same symptoms as the yeast infection and took diflucan and monistat again. A couple weeks after that irritation I experienced similar symptoms again. I took monistat for a day and I was fine.
The next day, i had red painless bumps and my scrotum was bright red. I went to a derm who said i had a bad yeast infection and gave diflucan. My whole groin became crusty and red and then died down. However, the bumps and ulcer remained for about two months. Derm biopsied a bump and came back as "Psoriaform Dermatitis". At 11.5 weeks, i had my derm do another Herpeselect IGG as I was freaked out and came back negative for HSV1 (.5) and HSV2 (<.02).
Not until recently HAVE i had discomfort and itching to the extnt where i realized it was a problem. ASSUMING IT WAS A YEAST INFECTION i took a diflucan It didnt work. i went to the doctor and she said i did the right thing ebecause "it looks like theres some yeast in there". I took 3 more diflucan pills !!!!! then i took monistat 3 ovule!!!!!! and right now im suffering with swelling in the vulva. Not all day but for hours of the day at a time there is discomfort.
But then the diflucan was not helping the itch and burn still so went back and got told I had a bacterial infection took medicine for that but still felt the itch and burn after that... I am still suffering as the doctors cannot diagnose me or help me. Steroid cream just masks the discomfort. It burns, itches, sometimes stings.. Has anyone ever experienced this horrible situation ?? Or have any idea what it could be. My tests always end up negative for everything.
Yes you can also ask your doc for an oral diflucan too to try to clear it up. also fyi - if this is a recently acquired hsv2 infection for you genitally, it won't show up on a std panel this quickly.
vagintis can trigger hsv2 to shed. avoid sex at this point until a few days after she's completed her yeast treatments. is she on daily suppressive therapy to lower your risk?
I've been taking diflucan for years, but for this year my yeasts infections gotten worst. I went to a gyn that my gyn sent me too. She recommended a gyn doctor that is good with diseases but he is no longer at the hospital she sent me too. I am constantly getting creams and diflucan for the yeast infections. I feel that my gyn is not meeting my need. I do not want to live on the creams and diflucan. I heard about a gyn on the radio that I would like to go to.
It has been heavy because of the antibiotics I was taking for a bacterial infection in my cervix. I kept treating it after each round of antibiotics but it kept coming back. The other day I took a 3 day cream treatment twice but still it persists and now I am just not caring anymore. I am 34 years old, several months ago had an infection in the groin area, and was prescribed 3 200mg tablets for diflucan for a yeast infection. Well the diflucan did not clear the infection so I was prescribed 14 days of 200 mg diflucan again along with 30 mg of Lotrisone. I applied the Lotrisone to the groin area and to the glans of the penis. The infection did not clear after this and I was prescribed another 14 days of diflucan. I continued to use the Lotrisone.
It can be an overly sensitive reaction to the cream, or the infection might be so bad your skin is damaged or something alike (don't stop using the cream unless doc says so tho). Unless you lose blood non stop, or big amounts, there's no need to panic and a simple call should be fine.
Also a tip when you have a yeast infection: cut down on sugar (or eliminate it from your diet alltogether), at least until you're clear of the infection.
