Diflucan fluconazole for men

Common Questions and Answers about Diflucan fluconazole for men

diflucan

Avatar f tn was found during my annual) and my dr (who is new and i do not normally see) prescribed me diflucan for 12 weeks, one pill, once a week. I have never heard of this or treated a yeast infection with diflucan like this before and am starting to think this doctor I saw was a quack/slave to drug company kind of doctor. Has anyone ever been prescribed diflucan this way?
Avatar m tn Yeah, the Fluconazole I'm taking is just a generic brand of Diflucan. So taking a single dose of Diflucan usually gets rid of your yeast infection? Lucky, haha. I'm on day 11 right now of taking Diflucan and I can't say its doing anything. I've heard that taking probiotics while taking antibiotics is also good for avoiding yeast infections, especially Acidopholous (which is the bacteria found in yogurt naturally).
Avatar m tn I've had this irritation in the area under my foreskin for over a year now. A fungal cream seems to keep it at bay and I've even taken Diflucan/Fluconazole (200 mg daily) for a week. They seem to help but yet it comes back. It's manageable and I can masturbate (with some temporary redness and slight burning sensation).
Avatar m tn You don't need to take fluconazole (Diflucan); it wouldn't make any difference in your wife's risk for recurrent infection. Women do not acquire yeasts from their partners. Yeast is present all the time -- it resides normally in the vagina, rectum, on the skin, etc. When an apparent new yeast infection appears, it arises from within -- i.e. the yeast already there grows to larger numbers or causes more inflammation.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your reply. I've already been on fluconazole for over two weeks. My probme is that while some parts of my body is getting cleared up, new lesions have also appeared in the past few days. Is it normal to get more lesions during a treatment? Is this a sign that fluconazole isn't effective and I should switch to something else?
Avatar f tn Once I stop within a few days I feel terrible again. They prescribe diflucan for 14 days. Had it 6 x’s. Always comes back. No bacteria grows in urine. I am also antibiotic resistant from antibiotics for 49+ years. I Am not diabetic but do have polycystic ovarian syndrome. WBC >182 /HP no bacteria growth is current urinalysis.
Avatar f tn Yes it's safe after 12 weeks. I am on round 2 of my dose. I am a rare case and I get VERY bad yeast and BV infections which cause bladder retention and usually have to get catherized for a week. I've had a cath 4 times this pregnancy and i'm only 16 weeks! I just took diflucan again yesterday and have another dose I will be taking in 3-5 days if the symptoms are still here. When I'm not pregnant I use oil of oregano orally for yeast.
4928337 tn?1362751166 I have just gotten it for a yeast infection. Creams do not work and its been so persistent he prescribed me this pill. You take it once. I have never had yeast.
525485 tn?1314361301 I know that you cant take diflucan (fluconazole ~generic for diflucan) but I was wondering if there was anything else. My doctors office is not open yet so I will be calling them when they are available, but was wondering if any of you ladies knew anything about this. Any help would be much appreciated!
Avatar f tn They didnt want me to talk diflucan that early. I am the same way as u. Nothing works but diflucan for me. so i know how u feel.
869568 tn?1248372915 Okay, great! Thanks a bunch!
Avatar m tn Cipro is usually prescribed for something like a uti and the Diflucan can be given with it to keep a woman from getting a yeast infection. The combination of these 2 meds are very common and don't immediately convey an std. If she already has a yeast infection then ues wear a condom. I would ask her what the doctor prescribed her the meds for and go from there.
Avatar f tn Not one of them can offer me any advice on how to rid myself of this painful illness, except for advising me to use antifungals on a regular basis. I find that fluconazole (Diflucan) works better than any of the others I've tried except Mycelex troches (which helps somewhat). In spite of trying yogurt, lactobacillus pills, caprylic acid, and eating less sugary food, and taking 150 mg of fluconazole daily for a over a week, the infection always returns.
Avatar f tn My doc usually calls me in terconazole goo, he said the diflucan or fluconazole pill isnt allowed during pregnancy which ***** because having a yeast infection isnt bad enough, add dealing with the goo treatment to it.
20797525 tn?1510602613 Every visit ending the same with a prescription for Diflucan, topical nystatin and steroid cream or drying powders. NOTHING WORKS. The snowball doesn't stop there. About three to four months ago, let's say August, is when I started having vaginal yeast, BV, UTI's, infection after infection. I have tried every single medication under the sun with not a day of relief. Every doctor I go to looks me over, does some tests, and ALWAYS sends me home with Diflucan or another treatment.
Avatar f tn ve had 4 different doctors look at my penis and they all say it looks normal and suggested I had a mild yeast infection on the glans of my penis due to the cracking and some patches that appeared. I was prescribed Diflucan (fluconazole) and also applied anti fungal cream for a week. After a week, it didn't really do much. I feel as if the brown color of my penis makes it easy for dermotologists and the doctors to overlook what i KNOW i see.
Avatar n tn I would go to the doctor and get a script for Diflucan and have your boyfriend take garlic pills which are a great probiotic, wait a week and see what happens. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Background info: I was given 3, 150 mg Fluconazole tabs to take, every other day. I started this Tuesday, I have taken 2 pills and will take my last one Saturday. My question is, before I started the medicine, my symptoms were pretty consistent with that of a mild Yeast infection: minor swelling, and my cervix was covered in thick, clumpy white discharge. No pronounced itching or burning, but some slight redness.
Avatar m tn I'm a 25 year old male, and I believe that in December I have caught some kind of a yeast (or bacterial?) infection after repeatedly having protected sex with a 21 year old female (we were seeing each other regularly during December) — it first started affecting my balls and then in mid-January the irritation seemed to have moved more to the penis. I've never had unprotected sex.
Avatar n tn You can get something like a cream (Canesten, Monistat) or you can get fluconazole (Diflucan) which is a tablet. The tablet takes a little longer to work as it needs to get into your bloodstream first. The cream gives you relief faster.
Avatar n tn The test were done months after the contact, so if there were an anti-body to an STD it should have showed up. They gave me Clotrimazole and Fluconazole (Diflucan) twice. My urologist said it was balantis and I would be fine. Initially, I felt a little better, but it never went all the way away. Oh.....and when the burning sensation is bad, I feel an anal burning, scratchy feeling too. It never feels normal. So.... I still think I have a drug resistant yeast infection (albicans).
Avatar n tn It is OTC but you have to ask for it. It does not cure but it does help to clear the candidia up for a while. If you have insurance there are prescriptions for yeast infections.
Avatar f tn He gave me a 150mg tablet of fluconazole. I am still having symptoms, before I started taking the fluconazole I had some swelling in my vulva, and after I took it the swelling went down, but now I still have the discharge, and a couple more tiny cuts. It doesn't really burn when I pee, its just an uncomfortable feeling because the cuts sting.I started taking bactrim to see if any of this goes away, today is friday and I have a dr appt on monday. I am so scared...
Avatar f tn You can use a cream or pessary ie clotrimazole (Canesten) or take a single dose tablet ie fluconazole (Diflucan). At the same time you might want to take some probiotics to help recolonise the good bacteria in your gut.
Avatar f tn t need to go to the doctor. You can get a once only tablet (fluconazole - Diflucan) or you can use a cream or pessary such as canesten (clotrimazole). It is very common to get thrush after antibiotics as they kill off all the good bacteria and allow there to be an overgrowth of Candida (the yeast that causes thrush).
Avatar f tn Hi - We don't look at pics here. We aren't doctors, and sure wouldn't disagree with a doctor who has actually examined you. If your doc thinks shaving bumps, it's probably shaving bumps. Add the irritation from monistat (and doesn't that stuff BURN), and a yeast infection, and I'm sure you're quite irritated. Ask your doctor for oral fluconazole.
